I absolutely love this Zelda Game and Watch. Living in a space as small as the typical $100,000 a month bread box that is a Manhattan apartment, it’s practical and the closest thing to having an arcade 1-Up. I look forward to the inevitable Donkey Kong and Kirby Game and Watch devices.
Having it made me miss my Gameboy Micro, but then I remembered that there’s Switch lite.

Same here. Though for me, I bought this almost entirely for the original version of Link's Awakening (my favorite Zelda game). I know many others would've preferred the DX version - but that was already made available on the 3DS VC, which I have. Whereas this is the first time the original version has ever been made officially available since the original release. And since I have a lot of nostalgia tied to playing it back in the early '90s (plus, with the exception of the color itself, I actually don't like some of the added stuff in the DX version), I was very happy they included that version. No, it's probably not objectively worth the $50 price point. But for me, for the reasons mentioned, it was. I'm definitely enjoying it. :-)

I do have to say something, and it's because I haven't heard many people talk about this. The reason Nintendo doesn't give you convenient solutions for legal emulation isn't because they are too greedy or lazy to. It's because licencing the literal thousands of second and third party games would be almost impossible today without incurring massive costs, leading to even higher prices. Let's face it, when you say you want to play Gameboy games, you're not just talking about playing Mario Land or Link's Awakening. You probably have like 50 games you could name off the top of your head that you'd want to play and like 45 of them had nothing to do with Nintendo IP. I think Nintendo should just embrace letting people emulate systems they would no longer support and actually partner with the archiving community to give people an all-in-one website that they can trust and, I don't know, support through donations or just let it go on as is. And yes, by "partner," I mean Nintendo should just let it happen and not shut it down any chance they get. Something like what Sega did back in the day with cheat devices, just giving them a thumbs up in the form of a licence.

i like the form factor, not sure how comfy it will be after a long time.
but I got handheld emulation coverd for most part but its split up in 2 consoles for diffrent purposes, GBA DS & 3DS runs perfectly on 3DS console.
So i softmoded my 3DS witch can run, GB, GBC, GBA, NES, NDS & 3DS ( it can run SNES, Genesis and some more emus but i don't use it on that system cuz they ran bad).
I also use a softmoded PS Vita for Vita games , PS1 roms & PS1 roms converted to PSP eboot roms, PSP roms , SNES, Genesis, N64 ( a few), NES, & it also run other random games like Heroes of Might & Magic 3, Doom (1,2, Final ) Another Metroid 2 Remake and some japanese translations from PSP etc.

And it's enough while waiting my very big and heavy Steam Deck for PS1, N64 and modern games. I just don't need all that big devices for 2-3-4 prices of G&W. Some of them are pretty crappy. G&W is cool and light, the purchase is my little thanks to Nintendo. At the same time ordered 64Mb chip (tested by community) + 128Mb (untested) from China for less 5$ each (with delivery) to replace and play nes+megadrive+gameboy games (many roms at once).

Don't get me wrong, the switch remake is absolutely beautiful, and probably one of the best redesigns of an original game. This just hits it differently.
