Got my 4WD Atlas yesterday! Easily worth every $! The delays sucked for sure, but OMFG SO MUCH FUN!!! BTW I can confirm the production model motors indicate 4240 at 160kv
In my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with the price of the atlas. Instead of undercutting evolve like some of the other brands are doing, they’re competing with them directly. And personally I’m more than happy to see them do it, I’d love for exway to run evolve out of business entirely, considering that evolve’s boards are unreliable deathtraps. Evolve still hasn’t fixed the brake locking issue, I’m happy to see a direct competitor.
Yep ^^ what this guy said. I had an evolve stoke that threw me off after the brakes locked up!!! I ended up getting an exway flex riot and it’s been the best decision I’ve made, such a lovely board. The other thing with Evolve is those terrible terrible remotes !! Never going back!!
Wow..very nice review ... Hope one day i can buy one electric skateboard...😞..its been 2 years i stil watch video but never try to ride because its to expensive...godbless like your review
8:13 - you mention it has double kingpin trucks which can accommodate two set of bushings per truck. Every DKP truck has that. Did you mean two sets of barrel bushings (vs barrel + cone)?
This is simply the most polished, well engineered and reliable skateboard in it’s price range. Just check out Exway’s board manufacturing process videos here on RUclips. Insane amount of attention to detail. It beat Evolve uphill and reliability wise. Next time you feel like bashing startups on RUclips Evolve, just remember how Exway mopped the floor with you.
I'm glad they have dropped the price a bit. The range is a let down but the build quality thus far appears to be good quality. You covered points missed by others, especially the bit about it bein harder to go 4wd from 2wd, most people would have missed they would need another ESC too not just another drive train. 👏🏼👏🏼
Yeah, the range is something that keeps popping up. I think I'm going to do another range test in the street wheels at a cruising speed without Turbo mode on. It'll be interesting to see the difference, if there is one at all.
great review, informative and unbiased (i think). The price ruined this board for me especially after the conversion to AUD, was really looking forward to it.
great review. but in my opinion, i dont think its worth the price. the range is around a budget board range. if ur going 4wd, u need an impressive battery.. the website says 4wd street should be 42km. u got 26km. thats not a good sign.. ..i get 21 miles on my zealot lol.
Yeah 26km wasn't an ideal range to get. I'm going to do another test with Turbo mode turned off and ride at a more cruising pace between 25-30kmh and see what happens.
Oh man. Tough question. If you want a board for just AT and for cruising/commuting, go the AT2. If you want to ride hard trails need a lot of acceleration power or you want the option to go street wheels, go the ATLAS.
My biggest question is allowed to take on airplane ? If not there is any Eletric longboard? I’m looking in purchase one and I going be traveling to others countries and I like to take with me
I'm 220 pounds and I want to get into electric skateboarding. I live in the mountains with plenty of hills. Western North Carolina. Would the 2WD be a good first board? It's pricy but worth the investment? My second choice is Backfire Zealot S with cloud Wheel. I feel like road wheels won't work in my area and I don't want to face plant.
For heavy riders + a lotta hill-climbing, 2wd means less range than normal, while 4wd means more torque and less range drop. Taken into consideration the normal range of 2wd and that of 4wd, the range is less of a concern in this scenario. HOWEVER, if you'll be climbing and coming down steep hills regularly, 4wd would be so much better as to safety concern, since you're relying on four belts when breaking rather than 2, which means if one or even two belts snap at the same time you'd still be able to break. Learnt this the hard way a week ago... I had one belt snap on me when I was riding downhill and didn't jump the board soon enough, resulting in a really bad road rash.
@@bastion9178 ouch. I rode sport bikes for years. I know the days of scrub brush and roadrash. Thanks for the input. Wish the 4wd was cheaper. This is my first eboard so I want to get something I enjoy but I am afraid of not liking it as much as I think for 2k
@@rutleyj yeah the price on the 4wd is a bit high. You could always go for a normal 2wd board and gear down for more torque, especially with cloud wheels on. Just find a pulley with a lot more teeth than you’d normally use.
Won't the range be a lot less with the higher performance motors? Wish they didn't send out a demo board... The retail board could be so much different. Hopefully they are not trying to cover something up
Yeah, it's always a worry when they send demo boards instead of production boards. Another reason they send out demos is so that we catch the potential issues and they can fix them before sending them out to customers.
@@eSkateHub if they don't pay you by the hour for testing the board out then you should not be giving them free help. They also shouldn't give you a board that still needs QA to be done for a review... Kinda a stupid idea Just because you are a smaller channel doesn't mean they can take advantage
What if you take off the belts on the front and only power on the back motor controller? Would that not work with 2WD, and not having to change out the trucks as you suggested?
Yeah, I've been trying to think about how you can get around all of the work needed to switch to 2WD. Exway's plan is to have both ESCs automatically turn on when you power on the remote. I wonder if you'll be able to manually turn one off. I don't think Exway have even figured out how they're going to implement it.
@@eSkateHub it seems very simple, I would think you can just switch between the 2 on the remote. Of course having the belts attached would cause unnecessary drag so just removing those should be sound. I saw on the remote switching between drives, I assume that works with both motor controllers installed but no one is experimenting with that yet apparently. Very excited to see because evolve is a no-go now. If this lives up to its specs in 2WD then it's a winner
Thanks for you video !! Man you forgot another downside !! Range !! 2400$ get you only 20km range and I can imagine a lot less in a real offroad trail .... for that price it should come with a much bigger battery and all options included .The M24 and the propel are much better 4wd off road board for similar price. I like the idea of the Atlas but having no range specially at this price really sucks !! : ).
Yeah, the range is a bit of a let down for a lot of people. I'm interested to give it a go in the 2WD setup to see how it differs. Yeah, I dunno about those boards. The Propel is a Cycleagle clone and the M24 might be the same, but not sure. Propel has a specced range of 27km and as we all know, boards never do what they're specced at. Then again, I haven't ridden them so I can't be sure.
How the hell did they get close to 42km of range on the street wheels+ 4WD? If 26 is the best that you get out of a board like this then in my opinion it is not worth it at all. Maybe there is some kind of mistake?
Yeah they kinda messed up having only one battery option and no easy way to swap them. But people are buying evolve's 2000 dollar gtr that doesn't even get 20 miles or the speed.
They put the board upside down on a flat surface lock mode 2 full throttle... What does people expect... It's literally 2 twice the battery of the flex with exactly the double ESC motor pulleys and belt to consume electronic energy. The 2 only exceptional things they did on this board are the DK trucks and the silly price they put on it.
I keep thinking I've made a mistake too haha. I'm going to do another 4WD street range test but this time I'll have turbo mode off, I'll ride at a more cruising speed between 25-30kmh and I'm going to loosen off my belts a bit, I think they might be a tad tight.
@@eSkateHub Please do, I think if the range test is done in normal conditions on speed mode 3 & 4, the values should satisfy a lot of viewers like myself.
I have a demo board which didn't have the final battery system in it. There are wires still all over the place. Exway are planning to release the board with a swappable battery but you'll still need to remove 12 bolts from the top of the board to lift off the lid.
It's not convenient, but definitely doable. You don't have to peel any grip tape back but you do need an allen key to undo 12 bolts. The lid on top of the deck lifts off and you can swap in and out the battery. My demo board didn't have the final battery-swap system installed yet so I couldn't show it.
Evolve made 4WD boards as experiments long before Exway, they did not fail but the decided against it since you can make much more powerful 2WD boards and the 4WD makes if heavier and more hardware. i.e gimmicky. Also, with street wheels you cannot drag the board behind you...
Interesting what’s the next for the electric skateboards? What I see it just plateaued already, pretty much everything is the same, kinda lack of innovations in this industry.
Not even close. Esk8 boards are lagging far behind other high power electric machines, as far as battery tech, control, motor, etc. There are some electric helicopters that have more power than many esk8 boards. Point is, esk8 still has a lot of room to grow!
The problem with Exway is customer support. I you have a defective board good luck, the warranty is fake advertising.
