For those of us who prefer a lighter, but sophisticated kit, thanks for giving MFT a chance. I look forward to your final impressions of the OM-1 and the format in general.
The OM-1 is fantastic, it offers features none of the competitors has. For animals in action that is specially the ProCaptureSH2 mode. - The animal and eye detection is at least as good as the one of the Sony a1. The M.Zuiko lenses outer worldly good. Honestly, I don’t understand why Olympus ditched the camera section. However, the new company OM Systems did an awesome introduction with the OM-1.
It seems like MFT has moved in the direction of high quality but hefty gear. The cameras and lenses don't seem all that much smaller than the competition. The om-1 is basically the same size as an r7
@@Reloading20 I think that's a good observation. I just rented an R7 and found my Lumix G9 more refined across the board, BUT, an R7 Mark 2 with some of its rough edges smoothed out and that 33-meg sensor, combined with the 100-500 zoom, would be a very serious lightweight contender, maybe a replacement for the much respected Nikon D500. The R7 has eye-track while my G9 is more face-tracking but I was surprised how often the R7 told me it was locked on the eyes of a bird when it actually had the wing. The Lumix 100-400mm is a very sharp lens but not as smooth as Canon or Nikon glass but it is lighter than the Canon zoom and at least a grand less expensive plus I really like the ergonomics of the G9 which was way ahead of its time in 2018. If Lumix can improve the G9 even as half as much with the G9 Mark 2 it would be a camera worth waiting for.
Another great Video Duade, yes I love my Om-1 and my 300 F4, I add the 1.4 teleconverter when required, the 40-150 F 2.8 is also fantastic. Have booked a trip to O'Reilly's with the two Mad Photographer's in September but we are going to extend our stay to three weeks total ,to have a good look around in the back blocks. Cheers and enjoy your new lightweight combo, its also great for bees and butterflies !
I like the great energy you always have when you take a picture. It is like your you never took a picture until then. Amazing that you still have that emotion all the time.
Love your enthusiasm when you're out in the field Duade! There's something quite infectious about it. My favourite moments are always when you go to talk to camera and then spot something and off you go to grab a shot . . . .Love it!!
I love this type of video. There’s a mix of gorgeous wildlife/scenery, not only the perfect wildlife shots are shown (nobody only takes stunners), and a gear review, to boot. I always take delight in your videos. You’re brilliant!
This was excellent Duade, I loved it. I note the fox at the end. I had one walk up to me over there yesterday afternoon. I stood dead still and it walked up to just 1 meter from me before it realised I wasn't a tree. LOL
Nice photos. I use this lens with a em1 mk2 and it works brilliantly for bif. I'd recoomen the Mc-14 teleconverter as well - it never comes off mine and doesn't negatively impact image quality or focus speed.
Been loving the recent content and this is no exception, keep it up! Since finding your channel, i've been loving wildlife photography more and more. You're a huge inspiration 👍😁
Great to see your enthusiasm and love for your subject and not bring everything down to what is the best gadget to use. Although of course I will still look forward to a 300mmm f4 review!
It is fun to watch how much you enjoy your "job". I saw the landscapes behind you, and was screaming at my laptop. Then, you noticed too and produced some enviable landscape images. Blue gums make great subjects. How did it feel getting great shots _without_ lying in the mud? What are the four-color blue-ish bands across the top of the trees on the road? And sulfur-headed cockatoos, I think they are my favorite bird ever.
I have been using this lens with EM1 MK II and its a killer combination. As others have said, this performs extremely well with 1.4tc while maintaining the image quality. It’s nice of you to show m43 gear here Duade as they have some pro level gear with very low price which might help a lot of hobbyist or entry level photographers, even help others who are thinking of making the switch. I switched from Nikon 2 years ago and have never been happier. I even had few images do well in international photography competition so image quality wise there are no issues at all.
Yet another enjoyable watch. I'm a Canon user but it's interesting to see other brands. I often use my RF100-500 for landscape pics whilst out looking for birds
Its really nice to see you having fun with MFT. I think its still an underapreciated system and your MFT-videos capture exactly why most of the MFT-users love their system: Its light, its small, it has great lens qualitiy and most imortant: its just a lot of fun to use. It would be nice to see some more MFT-content of you in the future.
Thankyou Duade, as an ex-Zimbabwean now living in NZ I have purchased an R7 and this in conjunction with your videos has re-ignited my passion in nature. I am starting to get into bird photography and look forward to sharing my journey with you.
I'm so glad to see and hear about your experiences with the OM-1. I've had my OM-1 for about a year and the ProCapture feature that you mentioned has completely revolutionized my bird photos. I use the ProCapture SH2 feature about 50 percent of the time I'm shooting and I love the take-off shots that I get, which I always used to miss. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your experiences with the OM-1. Thanks for your wonderful videos.
Been waiting for this for so long. I moved from Canon 90D to R5, missed crop factor but after Canon stopped Sigma I cancelled my R7 order (it is too compromised too) and was thinking the ON1 with that very lens might be the perfect accompanying body (together the cost less than a 500/600mm f/4 lens for the canon and seem to get great results.
DUDE! That foggy sunrise is just stunning! Also funny how you are "struggeling a little bit" in the beginning just to have an incredible session later. That's how it goes sometimes :)
Thanks Duade, another great video. Landscape photographer as well as bird and wildlife, and what a place to do both! Super camera and lens combo as well.
Really pleased you are giving the OM1 and 300mm f4 a crack. It is the kit I have been using for a while as it is so good, so light and has some awesome features. I also have the Canon R5 and 100-500 and find I almost always use the OM1 as the Procapture and in-camera image stacking has transformed my photography. Despite any prejudice about low light performance, my default ISO is 1600 and I find that even 12800 is usable as long as you don't underexpose and use DXO to tackle noise.
Great video here Duade that highlights a number of things........ 1: you'll always get better images if you get out early and scout your location and intended subjects behavior and movements, rather than staying at home and missing the best light and activity. 2: take "the blinkers" off and immerse yourself in your surroundings , it's amazing what else you might observe. 3: be prepared.......make sure you've got all your camera gear ready to go, wear suitable clothing, and experiment with different POV and heights etc. You also amaze me with how quickly you seem to adapt to different equipment, formats etc. The Olympus gear certainly looks the goods and so compact too!! I will be interested in what Canon reports on your R7...........hopefully something that is isolated to just yours! Thanks for such informative videos and your willingness to share your skills and thoughts.......much appreciated!! 👏👏🖒🖒
Thanks for the comment and wonderful observations, all very true and things I am constantly working on myself. Yes, it will be interesting to hear what Canon have to say. Cheers, Duade
Excellent video. I really like that you show the raw file, how much you crop the image, and the final result. I really enjoyed your previous video on using the OM1. What is the tall thin thing you have on top of the camera in the final parts of the video ?
Just want to say THANK YOU for giving OM system a chance! It’s honestly a wonderful system and I find so much joy when using their cameras! I used to own the Sony a1 and multiple g master lens but then I tried the OM1 and the 300mm combo and I was hooked! I find myself using the 1.4x teleconverter quite often to give myself 840mm range and the image quality with the teleconverter is still exceptional! Autofocus performance is affected slightly, though. If you choose to get the 1.4x teleconverter, I’d love if you could do a review on it! Lastly, would be really cool if you could get your hands on the Olympus 150-400 review to do a review on it with the OM1:) just some ideas Thanks again!
Duade I really enjoyed the beautiful subdued winter light and tones and it looks like you did too! So much creativity on offer with the mist/fog and wonderful to see many moody silhouette shots. Trees and underrated and make great subjects in mist/fog conditions like this. That foggy sunrise on the hill reminded me so much of rural NZ this time of year (and the Hutt Valley river valley I live in). The sunrise Grebe shots are a delight and so beautiful in that light. Impressive subject tracking and focus on the Cockatoo and Egrets inflight Duade. An impressive and versatile package with the OM-1 and 300mm F4 coupled with the crop factor. Great to see the OM-1 name live on from the original film camera of the same name 50 odd years ago. A really enjoyable winter landscape and wildlife experience and your enjoyment in the field was infectious! Thanks as always mate.
Thanks Mike, it was very enjoyable for sure, yes, as well as possums NZ inherited lots of Australian trees. As a small kit the Olympus offers a lot for its price. I look forward to continuing to try it out. Cheers, Duade
The absolute best photography videos on RUclips are your out-in-the-field sessions! I could watch them for hours on end. Not only do you give us useful information in regards to the particular equipment, you also provide a fantastic entertainment element. Love how you always make the best of every situation- switching from birds to landscape and back as the situations warrant. As for the weather conditions on this kind of day, I actually prefer the diffused lighting created by clouds and limited fog. This helps me to keep from blowing out the highlights and improve the fine details of the white plumage of Egrets or other brightly colored water birds. Color enhancement/saturation can always be done in post editing. Of course, a warm ray of sunlight at daybreak or at sunset is always a nice touch but it doesn't always work out that way.
Thanks mate, you are too kind, I too enjoy the infield videos, but they can be boom or bust if there are not birds about. Yes, overcast can be great as you can shoot all day, works well for bush birds. I struggle a bit with water birds as the water takes on a white reflection which can be hard to deal with. Have fun out there, Cheers, Duade
Very nice video! You’re absolutely right about just getting out there. I almost never regret it once there. Many times I think that the conditions are bad or whatever but I usually end up getting something that I enjoy. I really am enjoying the OM-1 with the 300mm F4. It works great with both teleconverters as well.
Thanks mate, yes, I agree, getting up can be tough but once out there I have a lot of fun. My mate has the 1.4 so I will try that out also. Cheers, Duade
No need to apologise for wonderful landscape shots. Getting into nature is the whole point of the exercise, so why not record it. A desire to get a photographic record of birds I see has morphed into a growing love of photography in general and in particular birds in landscape. I have read many reviews of the Olympus 100-400 and 300 f4 but still look forward to yours. My M.Zuiko 75-300 does a great job for the price and is so portable, but too often I find myself wishing for greater reach especially with small birds.
Thanks Kim, very true and yes that is the reason we head out. Glad to hear your 75-300 is doing well. I will hopefully do a review of the gear in the future after using it more. Cheers, Duade
100-400 is great but doesn't crop as well as the 300 f4. You really notice the quality of the 300 f4 compared to the 100-400 when your target is 50 metres or more away.
The Panasonic 200 f2.8 is a very nice lens to consider (a bit hard to find used) , I also have an old 150mm f2 Olympus from the older four thirds (vs current micro four thirds), there is a simple adapter that works well with the OM1. I shoot with both a Canon and Olympus and Panasonic. Gotta love the backpack options with OM1
I'm glad to see these photos in that environment. They were so beautiful. The 300 f4 Pro lens was always a little more that I wanted to spend, plus I preferred the convenience of a zoom & why I ended up with the 100-400 f5-6.3 lens. Thankfully I was able to later get the OM-1 too.
Love your videos, Duade! I had a feeling the fog would burn off as the morning progressed. It's fun just watching you walk around and getting excited about each new thing that catches your eye. Even the landscape shots, especially that morning sun!
For a relative newbie still reeling from sticker shock, like me, it's very encouraging to hear someone of your calibre saying things like "I got this second hand". 😅
Thanks mate, yes, I was happy with how they turned out, yes, we have a number of Kites down here, the Whistling is common around water. The Black Kite is also numerous inland. Cheers, Duade
Nice work as always, Daude! I really like that location. There is one more birding lens to try out with the OM-1 but it's really expensive. One day I'll look into OM-Systems, right now I'm preparing to experiment with the new Sony a6700.
Love your enthusiasm and some great shots. I have had this combo over a year and it works well. The sync IS means a tripod is really optional maybe even a hindrance.
I bought this lens when it first came out and paired it with an EM1 mark2. I really loved the combo for bird stills, but I'm primarily a videographer, so traded that lens in for a Sigma 150-600 Contemp, Metabones speedbooster and some cash and put them on a Panasonic GH5. The versatility of that Sigma lens far outweighs the sweet size and performance of the Oly 300mm f4. The Oly was razor sharp, but the Sigma is at least knife sharp, too...I still think the best bargain in long-tele zoom lenses ever. Thanks, Duade. Another sweet video.
That was a great session. For a birder, you caught on to landscape pretty well! I loved the whole session, what an incredible morning Well done, thanks for sharing
Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always, I love that type of weather and the colors it's wonderful for different types of photography 🐦👍🤗
Thanks for taking the time to show us all these types of videos we really appreciate it. I know it's a lot of work! I switched to micro four thirds last year after going through all full frame systems and apsc. Never in a million years would I have thought I would be an Olympus or Pansonic guy but here I am. There's something about the system that is just fun, not to mention portable. Obviously in many situations a larger sensor is better but I'm not a pro wedding or nature photographer and just like to have fun. But I will say there's no drawbacks for any of my landscape photography with M43. I like more depth of field without worrying about diffraction because I can just go to F11 and get F22 DOF. Just plain fun cameras, especially for video work as well. People don't understand until they try it, unless of course they use insane shallow depth of field as a crutch to make up for weak composition for portraits and such. But then again try out the Olympus 75mm 1.8 and it's bokeh city, if that's your thing. So many affordable lenses to experiment with.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and great to hear you are enjoying your kit, I agree it has a fun element to it that is for sure. I am struggling a little bit with shadow noise and higher ISO but that is to be expected from a smaller sensor. I look forward to using it more. Cheers, Duade
Great video. I had almost as much fun as you did. The first image of the heron on a branch would be a perfect one for editing out the upper-left branch. I'm sure that Jan would have done that!
Thanks Kevin, yes it was fun, yes, I would have cloned out that branch but the actual shot quality was so poor it was not worth the effort ;-) Cheers, Duade
Those fog photos are amazing, I wish our fog was that thin, you can't see more the, 6' (2M) in front of you sometimes with how thick our fog gets in my part of Maryland
Landscape photographers would have thought you crazy wishing the fog and mist away! 😄You got some great shots with and without the fog!! I loved the shots of the grebes diving under the water!
Looks like another nice prime you have there, Duade - enjoy breaking it in. Nice landscape portion this time as well...Always keep growing the skill set, I say. May the next session be a good one & best regards! ~ Chris
Really enjoy that opening landscape shot Duade! The Whistling Kites too! ! I'm now finally learning to do those little things like taking advantage of a lighting scenario and gaining the eye for what to shoot; and when to shoot it. Starting to shoot more landscapes really opened my eyes on how to better compose my wildlife shots too. Also, that wetland looks seriously incredible for bird and nature photography. Reminds me very much of a huge marsh I go to which used to be a channel of the Mississippi River here in extreme southern Illinois. One side of the road is sheer bluffs up to 200+ ft tall, which snakes den in after migrating out of the swamp. In summer there are tons of wading birds nesting and wood warblers, and not a soul in sight. Uphill it opens into dense forest and downhill is a nice winding river with a railroad bridge over it. Birds migrate right up the Mississippi River and stop along the way for a rest in this area.
The scenes in the intro are breathtaking...The colors are simply amazing! rewatched the 1st 60sec several times. You are great at what you do Duade, cheers!
Great to see you experimenting with some different systems Duade, thank you. Best image quality on that lens is f4-f5.6. At f11 (as in your landscapes) you will be well into diffraction territory on the m43 system. How do you find the subject ai - I found having three boxes (body, head and eye) all showing simultaneously was annoying. I don’t understand why OM System are doing this rather than switching to the smaller box as appropriate.
Thanks for the tip, I keep forgetting about diffraction coming from FF. Yes, the white boxes can be annoying, I think you maybe able to turn off the subject box, not sure. I do prefer the small box on the other brands but I guess its personal preference. Cheers, Duade
Yet another great video. Please try to do a BIF settings video for the OM1 once you feel confident you have them nailed down. Thank you for all your wonderful videos.
Between product pricing and practicality, the OM-1 is the only mirrorless that currently has any chance of taking my trusted Nikon D500 out of my hands. Great video, always enjoy your enthusiasm. :)
Fantastic landscape photos. Can I ask when you were walking down the track after moving to the water. What are the painted blue and purple marks on the trees to your right. Also yellow on the lower parts of the trees thanks. Amazing photos. You are a inspiration thank you. Mike uk
G'day Mike, they are painted for cultural reasons, the wetlands are an important first nations site and they have painted many of the trees in the wetlands. Cheers, Duade
1 use a Canon 75 300 4 for landscape, macro, prostrate, birds 🐦 300 is great for landscape as you have discovered. 400 works well. Thanks for your video.
All your featured shots were great. You weren't totally clear whether you used Pro Capture when shooting the BIFs but that works and can offer benefits in some circumstances.
Thanks Don, I was just using it for the Grebes but yes I can see the benefit of it for BIF as well. I just end up taking too many shots with it enabled, I guess I can reduce the number it captures prior. Cheers, Duade
Fantastic stuff Duade :) I did landscapes for many years before getting really serious with birds a few years ago, so I get it :) I've been starting to carry my wider angle lenses in my back pack lately, and threatening to do some more landscapes again soon :)
Hi Duade, I had to chuckle, your diving Grebe at 8:45 is almost identical to one I took today. Problem is I deleted my shot when culling. Fortunately I haven’t reformatted the SSD cards so might dig it out again. 😂
Wow, Duade, you came away with some awesome photos. Your editing skills coupled with your choices are excellent. Your landscape photos on today's outing rival any I've seen. Humor seems to be the order of the day with yours and some other channels I watched; subtle but nice. I laughed at your comment about not getting run over. Happy to have you around for some more videos, lol. Cheers!
Hi Duade. I am glad to see you like that gem of a lens. I have been using it since it was introduced in 2016 and will never part with it. If you have the chance, try also using the teleconverters with it.
Great video, really happy to see you giving the Ollie gear a go, Duade. I’m a Nikon guy but, not wanting to buy a Z9 and 400mm 2.8, about a year ago I bought the OM1 + 150-400 4.5 TC pro combo for birds and wildlife. And I was blown away. The full frame fanboys have no idea how the OM1 leaves their gear in the dust, from AI detection to frame rates (raw) to pro-capture (also in raw) to live ND etc. I know. I recently upgraded my D850 and Z6ii to a Z8, which works great with my 500mm 5.6 pf lens. But, even with Nikons latest and greatest features, it doesn’t keep up with my OM1. As much as I love my 150-400 (up to 1000mm ffe reach!!) I think the 300 may be their most versatile and sharp wildlife option. There used to be a 300 2.8 - it would be an amazing - although pricey - choice if they brought out a new version. Looking forward to your full reviews, including the compromises of M43 - which IMO are dwarfed by the advantages.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Brian, yes so far very good, the only thing I am struggling with a little bit is the shadow noise at higher ISO which is to be expected. The AF is also very good for BIF etc but like most mirrorless can get confused at times by reeds and grass etc. If you have time what AF settings are you using? Cheers, Duade
@@Duade pretty simple for me. I find bird AI detect with all focus points selected (tracking off) picks up the bird quickly and locks on most of the time. I also have the AEL function switch next to the AF-on button programmed to toggle between all points and single point (for when the bird is in the bushes or against a tricky background). The AEL button itself is programmed to turn bird AI on and off or when pressed, to scroll to animal, planes, trains etc. On the lens I use the memory set button to set a preset distance and then the lens function buttons to recall it. I have my standard bird settings saved as C1 on the top dial, animal settings as C2, high res as C3 and bird pro-capture settings as C4. Each of those gives me a set starting point I know, then I adjust from there. Looking forward to hear what works best for you. And yes, the low light, high ISO situations are the trickiest. That’s why I think a 300 2.8 would be an amazing high end telephoto for this system. Cheers, and keep up your work please. Love your enthusiasm.
Until this year, because I had invested in Canon gear, I would have described myself as a Canon photographer, I love my R5 and RF 100-500. I have got some famtastic results with that combo, however I have had a bad back for a long time, and it's not getting any better, so weight was a really big issue. I grudgingly convinced myself to get into M43, getting an OM1 and the 40-150 f/2.8 pro lens +1.4 TC and more recently, having tried the 100-400, which although sharp wasn't really great with focusing speed, so I opted for the 300 f/4. This was due to the faster focusing being great for BIF. I still have both Canon and Olympus systems, and I find myself reaching for the Olympus more and more often...I find that with a bit of practice, particularly in terms of exposure compensation...( mostly to avoid underexposure correction in post)...noise really isn't an issue and it's just so useable. I can't believe that I'm saying this, but my R5 is mostly sitting at home these days. When you add the pro-capture and 50 FPS in to the mix...it is hard to resist the OM1 and that 300 f/4 is a fantastically sharp prime lens. Love the channel, and love the fact that you are happy to share your experience without bias.
Just returned from a 4 week tour in the Netherlands - I used my OM-1 with the 40-150mm f2.8 pro and the 100-400mm and the MC14 TC. In total I took 57.000 photo's (with SH2 at 50 fps that is easy done) - took amazing shots of osprey's, sea eagles, king fishers etc - still considering this 300mm F4 lens - I am now for comparing purposes carrying my Nikon Z7 II with the FTZ adapted Sigma 150-600c with me for a couple of days - I really often miss the lightweigth and responsiveness of the OM-system (tracking of birds especially in flight which is an no go on the Nikon Z7 II) - I do travel by bicycle and have the camera strapped with a sling, always ready for some snapshots or opportunities - on the OM-system with the 40-150 I even manage to take birds in flight while cycling - next week the OM1 will be my dayly companion again - the Z7 II will be my backup camera again
This was fun, obviously you thought so as well! It's so nice see someone almost giggling by delight over 1) not getting overrun by a car while 2) getting an excellent Bird & Landscape combo photo😂 On the serious side: I wish I had more money, so I could get one of these camera systems as well, either Olympus or the Fuji. I don't remember if Fuji is a micro as well or if it's 1:6 and I don't intend to check it out before I post this comment🙄 Sadly, it isn't only a question of funding, it's also the problem with fitting *all* that gear (not gonna let all the Canon stuff go!) into ONE cabin-approved bag for travel, and then manage to get everything on my person when out in the field... It seems I have to choose, then stay the course, in real life. And I already chose The Canon Way, so here I am, condemned to feel the forever-curiosity-itch about those green grasses on the other side of the fence...
Thanks for the comment, yes I had a lot of fun. Olympus is 2x Crop, Fuji is 1.5x I think. Yes, I am very grateful to try all systems. In fairness all these modern camera have pros and cons and all take wonderful shots. The 100-500 is very hard to beat in terms of IQ, weight etc. Cheers, Duade
Thanks, Duade. I shoot with the OM-1 and the PL 100-400. I'm very much looking forward to your comparison of the two lenses on this body. I'm curious about the functional tradeoff between the extra reach but the "worse" aperture and how software like DeNoise and Gigapixel can compensate.
It doesn't matter that you were using an Olympus, the images were still great. I love the fog, sometimes when I drive through France I park up for the night by the Loire so at first light I get wonderful misty images. Because of the crop factor I have considered getting an OM1, and an adapter for EF lenses. Wonderful setting, water and plenty of birds, as you must be aware, Europe is rather too hot at the moment. Even in more normal temperatures, it can be difficult using a long lens in Spain because of heat haze.
Loving your videos and photographs. You show the real beauty of Australia and its wildlife and landscapes. You are making me also want to rush out and buy the Olympus OM1. It's a brilliant piece of kit.
Really like the way you overlay the post processed shot with the RAW, really cool
Yes! That's very helpful to me, too.
Me too!
For those of us who prefer a lighter, but sophisticated kit, thanks for giving MFT a chance. I look forward to your final impressions of the OM-1 and the format in general.

If Lumix can improve the G9 even as half as much with the G9 Mark 2 it would be a camera worth waiting for.
@@Reloading20 The lenses make the difference.
@@richardfink7666 like I mentioned, many mft lenses aren't much smaller, if they even are smaller, than the comparable rf lenses.
I love how you superimpose the Raw with the edit including the crop, very interesting to see!
This combo with MC-14 is great option for Wildlife.
Duade, if you can - please try best oly zoom please- 150-400 F 4.5 Pro
I bought a used 300 f/4 several years ago and had the same sort of reactions. It is that good.
Best thing in this video is see your happiness with all moments. We watch and want to get out right now to photography.
Thanks mate, it was a lot of fun, Cheers, Duade
Fog is terrible for birding but is awesome for landscapes. Great shots, Duade. Nice little compact setup that Olympus kit is 👌.
Thanks, yes, totally agree and I am happy I was able to take advantage of it, Cheers, Duade
Improvise adapt overcome
Another great Video Duade, yes I love my Om-1 and my 300 F4, I add the 1.4 teleconverter when required, the 40-150 F 2.8 is also fantastic. Have booked a trip to O'Reilly's with the two Mad Photographer's in September but we are going to extend our stay to three weeks total ,to have a good look around in the back blocks. Cheers and enjoy your new lightweight combo, its also great for bees and butterflies !
It's an outstanding kit.
I like the great energy you always have when you take a picture. It is like your you never took a picture until then. Amazing that you still have that emotion all the time.

Excellent shots Duade! Will be interesting to compare OM-1 and 100-400 vs. R7 and 100-500!
Yes, I need to do that, my R7 is in at Canon at the moment but I will do that when I get it back. Cheers, Duade

Your videos show that it does not matter what brand you use they are all pretty good with different strengths.
Great to hear Norm and congrats, have fun with the NZ birds, the Tui is such a cool looking bird. Cheers, Duade
Great video Duade, it was an incredible morning, Great to catch up again, Cheers😎
Thanks Mark, the OM-1 has one of the best implementations of procapture of any camera I have used. I look forward to using it more. Cheers, Duade
What stunning light for those foggy landscapes, and the silhouette, interesting to see how the lighter kit performed 👏
So true!
Thanks Duade, another great video. Landscape photographer as well as bird and wildlife, and what a place to do both! Super camera and lens combo as well.
Thanks John, it turned out to be a wonderful morning for sure, glad you enjoyed it. Cheers, Duade
Despite any prejudice about low light performance, my default ISO is 1600 and I find that even 12800 is usable as long as you don't underexpose and use DXO to tackle noise.
that`s right
Does the the Om1 IS sync with the IS of this lens
@@highanddryful . Yes it does.
Great video. Love how you show raw and post processed pictures. Also liked the landscape compositions. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow gorgeous shots!! I love the pure honest joy in your voice.
I lol’d at the ‘kind of concerned I’m excited about photographing a tree” 😂👍🏼🍄
Thanks, yes, it was a slight concern :-) Cheers, Duade
I've always enjoyed your bird photography. But your landscapes are exquisite! I look forward to your full review of this OM-1 kit.
Many thanks!
Excellent video. I really like that you show the raw file, how much you crop the image, and the final result. I really enjoyed your previous video on using the OM1. What is the tall thin thing you have on top of the camera in the final parts of the video ?
Thanks Duade. I have been waiting for you to do another shoot with the OM1 so I am excited. Absolutely beautiful landscape and bird photographs.
Lastly, would be really cool if you could get your hands on the Olympus 150-400 review to do a review on it with the OM1:) just some ideas
Thanks again!
So enjoyable watching you in the field. Your enthusiasm is undeniable and contagious. Already looking forward to the next video.
Thanks so much!
Amazing photos with a beautiful honey and blue colors 🐦😍
Thanks mate, Cheers, Duade
Hi duade looked very cold 🥶
Would love to hear your thoughts on this lens vs the Olympus 100-400.
100-400 is great but doesn't crop as well as the 300 f4. You really notice the quality of the 300 f4 compared to the 100-400 when your target is 50 metres or more away.
Great video. Please compare the OM1+300 F4 vs Sony A7iv + 200-600
That location is mind blowing, what a source of great photographs to the photographer exploiting it! Well done!!
This is the most fun I've seen you have for a while now.
Das Objektiv hab`ich mir heute gekauft und ich hoffe es ist kein Fehlkauf!
I noticed how excited you were. I would be too. That’s an awesome venue to be photographing in. Keep the great work rolling sir.
Thanks mate, yes, it was a fun morning for sure, Cheers, Duade
I'm glad to see these photos in that environment. They were so beautiful. The 300 f4 Pro lens was always a little more that I wanted to spend, plus I preferred the convenience of a zoom & why I ended up with the 100-400 f5-6.3 lens. Thankfully I was able to later get the OM-1 too.
Love to see you having so much fun out there! Contagious.
Testing gear is clearly a pretty good excuse to go out and have so much fun with birds and nature in general. You're doing great Duade !
Yes! Thank you!
Love your videos, Duade! I had a feeling the fog would burn off as the morning progressed. It's fun just watching you walk around and getting excited about each new thing that catches your eye. Even the landscape shots, especially that morning sun!
Glad you enjoyed it!
For a relative newbie still reeling from sticker shock, like me, it's very encouraging to hear someone of your calibre saying things like "I got this second hand". 😅
The trees worked mate, brilliant images. Loved the whistling kite image. We get the red kite is the UK, beautiful birds. Stunning location.
Thanks mate, yes, I was happy with how they turned out, yes, we have a number of Kites down here, the Whistling is common around water. The Black Kite is also numerous inland. Cheers, Duade
Beautiful shots, Duade!! Truly amazing! You must be freezing at the start 🥶 Leaving the bed must have been hard, glad you pushed through for us!
Yes, it was a chilly morning but well worth it, Cheers, Duade
That was great. It was intimate and great to see how you approach birding in general.
My pleasure, yeah its a very sharp lens which is great, congrats on the Sigma, Panasonic combo. Cheers, Duade
Your enthusiasm and enjoying of nature & photography are contagious :-) Now I want to go out & take photos. Regards from Barcelona, Spain
That was a great session. For a birder, you caught on to landscape pretty well! I loved the whole session, what an incredible morning
Well done, thanks for sharing
Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always, I love that type of weather and the colors it's wonderful for different types of photography 🐦👍🤗
Thanks mate, Cheers, Duade
I absolutely LOVE the 300/4... Recently bought the OM Systems 150-400/4.5... Also a fantastic lens!
Thanks, yes, that fog was perfect, the dense fog can make things very difficult, thanks for supporting the channel, Cheers, Duade
Great video really like the fact you can combine bird and landscape photography. Even though you had you've still managed to grab some great shots
Thanks Harry, yes, it turned out to be a great morning, Cheers, Duade
Landscape photographers would have thought you crazy wishing the fog and mist away! 😄You got some great shots with and without the fog!! I loved the shots of the grebes diving under the water!
Thanks mate, yes, in the end the fog worked out well for the landscape shots. Cheers, Duade
What a wonderful playground you have!
Looks like the camera and lens is a nice light setup for a walk around.
Have fun and enjoy !!
Thanks mate, I sure did. Cheers, Duade
Looks like another nice prime you have there, Duade - enjoy breaking it in. Nice landscape portion this time as well...Always keep growing the skill set, I say. May the next session be a good one & best regards! ~ Chris
Thanks Chris, yes, it was a lot of fun and a great light kit. Cheers, Duade
Looks refreshingly light!!
F8 givs the best results. I've own one since it came uot. Very satisfied with it and also Em1x
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for your great video. The landscapes with trees are absolutely beautiful and amazing. ❤
Please,please review the 150-400 on the OM-1🙏
Just buy it. It's an awesome lens and as sharp as the 300mm f4. I can't tell them apart when reviewing the images.
Duade... you could be reviewing a Kodak Instamatic in the field and your love of what you are doing would still shine through. 😊
lol thanks mate, I am glad that comes across.
Great video. Can't wait for your reviews on the camera and lens.
I am sure that you will enjoy this lens as I have for the last 8 years. I look forward to seeing what you can do with it!
Hi Duade, I had to chuckle, your diving Grebe at 8:45 is almost identical to one I took today. Problem is I deleted my shot when culling. Fortunately I haven’t reformatted the SSD cards so might dig it out again. 😂
Thanks Tony, oh that is a shame, I have been there and done that. Good luck recovering the file. Cheers, Duade
Cheers!
Thanks mate, perhaps I need to take more Landscape shots, my wife has been telling me this for years. Cheers, Duade
Thanks for the feedback and tips Brain. Cheers, Duade@@brianlemke6017
It's so nice see someone almost giggling by delight over 1) not getting overrun by a car while 2) getting an excellent Bird & Landscape combo photo😂
On the serious side: I wish I had more money, so I could get one of these camera systems as well, either Olympus or the Fuji. I don't remember if Fuji is a micro as well or if it's 1:6 and I don't intend to check it out before I post this comment🙄
Sadly, it isn't only a question of funding, it's also the problem with fitting *all* that gear (not gonna let all the Canon stuff go!) into ONE cabin-approved bag for travel, and then manage to get everything on my person when out in the field...
Wow, thank you!
Excellent thanks!
