I would get some long hardware and run it all the way through the wheel on the electric snowboard. Compressing the plastic perpendicular to the layer lines will actually strengthen them a lot as it has to overcome the pretension and then the layer bonding before it breaks.
Im thinking the dirtsurfer taxing the legs may have a bit to do with so little room to change up position. Having to remain constantly in any position is hard

These seem like they would work amazing in an urban setting as well. Are these allowed everywhere a bike is?
I can only speak so far as Canada, but in general yes--though some municipalities have some bylaws in place that limit or restrict
