An over-abundance of "maternal" influence is the result of the majority of our modern developmental and social issues of our time. Maternal virtues are important, love, acceptance and nurturing are essential however by themselves, fail to prepare a human being to enter a world virtually absent those very virtues.

That's what I'm thinking for quite some time too. Turns out you can get women out of the family, but you can't get the family out of women. Turns out no matter where you put women, they always try to run it like a family. Our modern compassion overdose is a direct result of the rise of women. Instead of using that compassion to nurture little children, which is what it's for, they use it on grownups, for what it is definately not for.
