    Oh how I enjoy your vids! So chill, so relaxing. It's great to watch a confident skilled Skipper at work. Nice haircut ! And oh it woukd be terrific to see a dentist on short notice. My dentist has a Ferrari and other interesting cars. Glad to have made the contribution.

    Hi Steve and Judy I was just in Bodrum with my GF on a weeks vacation from the US and got a haircut that my GF absolutely loved could get expensive to keep getting them there! We plan to sail the Med in 3 years when we retire love the films and keep them coming!

    Steve there is a standard chain marking system. R-Y-B-W-G it is easy to remember with the phrase "Rub Your Balls With Grease". You don't need amber markers but you do need white.

    Haircut looks good Steve, I think it was about to go to seed if you left it alone.

    When putting out a stern line to shore, I tie a fender or two to the line so fishermen etc can easily see it. The film "Keeping Mum" is one of my favourites.

    Such an agreeable watch. Beauty as always. Simplicity. A boat to die for. Great anchorage. And a wonderful advert for Turkey.
    We sailed from Bangor in Northern Ireland to Rhu, North of Glasgow last weekend! Beauty of a greener kind!

    Hi guys. Love your videos, very informative. I've been watching an earlier video where pumice fishing was the go. PUMICE was used by the Romans and Greeks to make concrete for the columns of their large structures. It was used because it is extremely light and this allowed the builders to more easily raise the large columns. Pumice today is still used in lightweight concrete construction. :)

    • @svfairisle
      @svfairisle  2 года назад

      Interesting, the Romans didn’t miss a trick. Sorry to say that almost 2 years on from there and pumice is still the only thing we’ve caught🤣

    Hello Fairisle! I was thinking of you as I just watched episode 300 of "RAN Sailing". I remembered you asking for any good vids to let you know as you would be at anchorage for a while! The gang on Ran Sailing moored alongside a young Polish chap that just crossed the Atlantic in a 16ft. sailboat that he built himself from plywood and fiberglass.The video tells a little of his story along with a little jaunt on the boat.Watch if you get time "Ran Sailing " latest Y T video. As for viewing suggestions : Ive enjoyed VernonDecks LearningByDoing vlog from Indonesia (gorgeous/best ever drone shots in the latest), I never tire of CaptainRon, and have been surprised at how accurate TheLastKingdom is (amazing how little of the Viking experience in the UK I was taught in school). Best !

    Normally I let the small things fly by but whoever cut your hair did a fantastic job. Not to say you are old or anything like that but you look at least ten years younger. Really nice video as well, classy.

      Well thanks, I don’t know about 10 years younger, but Turkish hairdressers are excellent it’s true and you don’t get out of there without them giving you a good scrub!

    Enjoyed the video very much. I would like to recommend a sailing movie you may enjoy. The movie is called " Dead Calm " with Billy Zane, Nicole Kidman. It is a very intense and will keep on the end of your cockpit seating. Enjoy your cruising adventures and keep the keel pointed downward
    Kind Regards,
    Gary

Apple TV; "Salt Bike. A Year with the Baron". A cracking documentary made by my brother and narrated by Ewan Mcgregor. We have just a few films on board 😉 catch up in the summer at some time. Love the haircut. Regarding TV I really enjoyed the French Spirel. Why did you need to put a stern line out ?

    • @svfairisle
      @svfairisle  2 года назад +1

      There wasn't enough swinging room with the depth of the water the mount of chain we needed to have out would have meant hitting the side. So the anchor goes closer to the North bank and we tie to the South & that gives us enough scope.

  • @adrianturner4105
    @adrianturner4105 2 года назад

    Another great video. I would be interested to know how you get on with the chain markers. I put them on 8mm chain this year but as they went around the horizontal winch on deck they started coming out of the chain. I may go back to coloured cable ties. I will also fit some warning markers as the anchor gets near to the stem as I knocked a chunk out of the bow when I operated the winch from the helm.

    • @svfairisle
      @svfairisle  2 года назад

      You can get versions that are more rubbery and some which are hard plastic, but i have to say we had the hard plastic type in the original chain and they were all still there after I assume 15 years or more. I fitted the more rubbery variety 3 years ago and again not lost one. Maybe your chain even though 8mm has a slightly different pitch between links? there are variations

    • @adrianturner4105
      @adrianturner4105 2 года назад

      @@svfairisle I must admit it’s the first time I’ve used them & did think that it maybe the horizontal winch that is twisting them out. I think mine are the more rubbery type. I’ll see how I get on this year, thanks for the reply. All the best to you both.
