- Many of you are probably aware that Derek Jacobi’s YANA incarnation of The Master has since been revealed through Big Finish to be The Master that fought in the Time War…but what you may not be aware of, is that he is in fact the SECOND War Master!

Below I have addressed some commonly raised points regarding The Child/War Master and this video
Point : The "First/Child" War Master is an aborted timeline
Response : Recently the writer of those particular comics suggested that when he wrote them the idea was that the Child War Master comes AFTER Jacobi's and the "regeneration" at the end of the comic may in fact have been a "retro-regeneration" back into his previous incarnation.
However this has also been acknowledged as open to interpretation as the comic does not explicitly state this to be the case.
Having read the comic myself (and when viewed alongside other evidence) my interpretation is that The Child War Master precedes Jacobi's incarnation, as this is the most canonically logical explanation.
Derek Jacobi was born to play the Master he’s that amazing in the role
He certainly plays it very well! His Big Finish work is superb
It would be pretty amazing to see the war Master again for another multi-Master story for the TV series

I wish we get A story with A young war doctor.

Big Finish are doing one soon across four volumes but the first one isn't out until June of this year

Probably not, simply because The Watcher only appeared in one episode on TV and briefly in a Tenth Doctor short story, both of which pretty much explain what it is, so there's not really anything to compile a video on

Can you do a brief history of the 8th doctor if you have the time
I will be doing one or more videos on each Doctor at some point, but The Eighth Doctor will probably be the last one I do purely because he has one of the largest, most varied and on-going timelines with Big Finish
I’d certainly be interested in seeing other stories with the young war master! The yana incarnation is already so insidiously deceptive I can only imagine how many poor souls could be tricked into trusting him as a child.
Agreed, I know some people have speculated that Milo Parker's incarnation in the upcoming Big Finish Masterful release will this this incarnation but I don't think that's the case, as The First War Master is clearly intended to be asian in appearance/body.
Which in itself is possible an in-joke reference to The Movie Master's famous "the asian child" line.
I love expended Doctor Who universe.
Whilst it can create the odd continuity problem & be confusing at times, it is brilliant how much expanded lore there is!
Is the Master regenerating into a *child* (looks like a young teenager to be specific) ever addressed or explained during the actual comic?
We've known for a while Time Lords can change sex, ethnicity. etc and look older or younger. But a CHILD?
That's new & bizarre. Definitely super interesting though. Your vids on the expanded Whoniverse are a blessing man, huge props 👏
Well we know regeneration isn't limited by race, gender or, more specifically in this case age, in terms of physical age The Doctor's incarnations have always been rather "all over the place"
So there's no reason WHY he wouldn't become a child, there's the implication that he may have "chosen" the form of a child so as to become less suspect to his enemies.
Although there is actually some debate over this particular regeneration/incarnation now which is explained more in the pinned comment
10:30: I thought "War Master" series has concluded with last set?
That’s the first I’m hearing of that, whilst I know they did only commission four series initially, I have seen/read anything to suggest they don’t plan to continue it further
That War Doctor/Child War master comic gives me a headache. 😄
It's certainly...confusing at times haha hence my little "head canon" note about the CIA probably doing damage control to tidy up all the loose ends haha

He's actually going to be the subject a future "A Brief History" video so you'll find out more then, but in short as I have mentioned in previous videos The Monk was known to have survived the time war.
So just to be clear was there a master in between Macqueen version and the child incarnation or did he regeneration directly into his child form?
At present time nothing has been said or shown that implies any incarnations between them, so it’s assumed the Child War Master follows McQueen

That's pretty much the Doctor Who universe in a nutshell haha
I think the idea of the 1st war master being a child is stupid beyond repair. I think it’s dumb the the time lords would resurrect the master for him to be a child during the time war. What is he gonna do for them? In my head he’s not even canon cause he’s titan comics. For me personally I prefer to think Macqueen regenerated into Jacobi. Plus we know Macqueen is canon cause the 8th doctor recalls his companions in his last moments and Macqueen is HIS master.
Because if you read the comics, he implies at one point that the body of a child is perfect because very few would suspect a child of being so dangerous, it automatically gives him the upper hand/element of surprise in any battle, and he's still not any less lethal/powerful/cunning as a child either...he might be a child but he's still The Master.
The comic are controversial to many to be fair so I can understand people choosing not to see this incarnation as canon but to date the only pre-Jacobi regeneration we've seen in the one in this series of comics so for many including myself until that gets retconned it is the canon line.
I was thinking that’s why he was the child incarnation, it’s just harder for me to take seriously. I respect your point of view, I guess it’s all about preference in the end.
