New subscriber Jim. Great channel. Was at Upper Owens a few weeks ago and the mosquitos drove me away....was totally unprepared. If I ever fish McGee I will remember to bring snow shoes 😂
@@highcountrychronicles yes much more to come. I snowshoed up to Mary, George and Mamie and they are all snow loaded and mostly frozen! Gonna be tough fishing, but good for Cali

@@highcountrychronicles Thanks Jim. I was wondering more specifically about the fishing setup you used in this video - nymphing, I assume, but any indicators, type of rig etc you could share (or point to another link)?
From what I've read about the stretch between 395 and the lake the ticket is to follow the fence to your destination .... because the mud can be a real pain and is even dangerous. As seen in this video I'd say that's true. I'm not sure how far the fence goes but apparently it's just there to keep the cattle from damaging the area around the creek and polluting the water.
Yeah, you can do that. It's longer. If you follow the fence all the way, it will take you to what is essentially a "people" gate. Between the crossing and the people gate, cross country isn't bad as you can see at the end of the video. That's how we came back. We didn't follow the fence line however as it just didn't seem to make sense.
Yep. This place though, the Crowley map even calls out as a bog so it must stay pretty wet. There seemed like there were a lot of springs in the area. I've never been that far down on the creek before....
Great adventure Jim. Tough conditions. How far did you hike to Crowley?
@@edg4462 It wasn't far, maybe 30 minutes if that.
W❤W! That’s Incredibly Awesome! Cheers!🥂❤️✨
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great video. I love watching fly fishing videos from the waters I fish
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks really peaceful out there. That mud was rough though wow!
Yeah. Absolutely beautiful. Almost like Montana.
Yikes.. I've been wanting to check out McGee for a few years, but I thank you for saving me the trouble!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching! It really looks like it deserves another visit during better conditions.

😅 That's actually a great idea! 🤣🤣
I had some back at the cabin. LOL.
Glad you like the content. Thank you for the sub! 👍🏾
I fished there about 9 months ago. Lost a bunch of flies and didn’t catch a thing 😂
Beautiful place though. 😅
@@highcountrychronicles for sure!
Looks awesome out there. Getting stuck in that bog looked tiring hah.
Yeah. I was breathing pretty hard there. 😅😅 Absolutely beautiful though. 😁
I have never seen that much water in McGee Creek! That is great
Yep and there's more to come. They 're still clearing Lake Mary road. The lakes still have snow on them as of a few days ago...

Good morning 🌄
LOL. Good morning!
Love fishing the creek, especially when the Terrestrials start to pop off. You can get some big boys in the deeper pockets above the weirs
Thanks for the beta!
Another great video - thanks Jim! I notice your setup seems pretty similar ffor recent videos. Can you point me to a link that has more details?

A day at the stream beats anything. I checked that area out last year but I missed the seasonal cut off
That's for sure!

Everything is such a soup mess now. July and aug should dry out some

Crowley Lake is a private lake, hence the admission fee. They have to stock it themselves.
Good to know. Thanks. I've never been and always understood that it was the boat launch that was private.
Not a private lake. There are spots all over that you can drive in and fish from shore or launch a float tube
It's public access and is stocked by CDFG
@@roncale81 maybe on the backside but not from the front drive up.
Quit burning the spots
@@3brionac 🤣 What spots am I burning? McGee Creek is one of the most popular spots in the area...🤦🏾♂️
