Yeah, I have been waiting for this for a very long time. The Microsoft surface pro looked like it could satisfy that, but it fell flat in that regard. This looks like a dedicated gaming handheld made to pump out console quality games. This will be huge if it works well!
Kyreem Powers Yes! Dedicated hardware can be a game changer. If they pack all the advances of mobile technology from the last decade into a dedicated gaming device, it could be spectacular.
thats the point where the Switch will fail. Games need to much power and even more because of the big display. It will never run longer than 2 hours. Tablets can be used 10 hours thats right but not 10 hours of gaming. Every other application uses much less power.
You may be right, but I at least have hope Nintendo understands how important the battery power problem is. The Gameboy beat the Game Gear because of battery life alone, it literally had no other advantages over the Sega handheld. 10 hours may be a fantasy, but 2 hours isn't giving Nintendo enough credit. I bet it lands somewhere in the 4-6 hour range.
Choosing to show Skyrim tells us everything we need to know about power. 3rd party support is going to tapper off quickly with this. If 3rd parties continue to support it, it's going to be through shovel ware or new IP like Bravely Default. However When you combine the amount of good games Nintendo puts out for WiiU and 3DS, combining that effort onto one console is going to really buff the library. Full fledged versions of Zelda, Pokemon and Fire emblem on one platform is going to be a great thing.
Raphi Müller Skyrim wouldn't function properly in former Wii devices, 360 and ps3 are still power houses and for a wii to have that bump in power is going to be great for them.
What do you mean Nintendo gives you something different? This isn't unique. Just like usual, they steal ideas and market the shit out of them to dumb mass consumers. This is literally just the Nvidia Shield with a Nintendo logo.
This is a funny video to come back to because I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted how the switch would take off. Even on the name, Colin says that if you type switch into google you don’t know what you’ll get so I tried it in 2020 and sure enough it’s all the console. Interesting stuff when it comes to initial perception of these consoles and where they end up.
Haven't bought a Nintendo since the Gamecube, this appeals to me for sure (I don't own a portable either). I'll still play most multi plats on my X1 or PS4 but if this has a good battery life, fair price point, and access to Virtual Console, I am in. Practical vs a gimmick.
Yep. This is definitely stopping me from buying a 3ds for the new Pokemon. Maybe I'll just trade in the Vita for that until then, and if they allow 3ds games somehow I'll ... SWITCH.
Kid Zarathustra I wouldn't expect good battery life, but at least mediocre if playing a skyrim/3d Mario/Zelda game and more when playing virtual console games. but hey remember Pokemon taught ppl to get a separate battery pack if you need one.
The last rumor that came out said that the Switch would have a battery life of 3 hours Max. Which kind of sucks, but its perfect for me. I play all my handhelds at home.
More food for thought: the suggestion he made (just call it "Nintendo") would probably be even more challenging than 'Switch' for search engine optimisation, has it would collide with a lot of pre-existing content and references, including their website and social media accounts. By contrast, Switch at least as the advantage of showing relevant results when users search for 'Nintendo Switch'. This is probably the same reason that keeps Sony and Microsoft from rebranding their main consoles as just 'Playstation' or 'Xbox' (and also the reason why Apple goes back and forth with iPad branding, regarding using numbers or just calling it 'iPad').
Sooo, yeah, new to the channel...watching a 5 minute 'show' once a week is not being a part of the channel. However, welcome, hope you enjoy the other content too!
oh stop it! Skyrim on the go lol we have played it on console, pc, you can't possible be that excited for it to arrive on the switch haha :) im with you but just hope this thing sells well and turns out cool im highly interested in this console though
Tim: "Does that look like a toy? Does that look like a toy???" (aggressively pointing at screen, confident his claim is unmatched) *silence for a few moments* Greg: "Well I mean the controllers, yeah" lol
xzcvr But this has 2k17 and Skyrim Remastered in the Reveal trailer. Plus the 2017 Sonic games are already confirmed for the Switch. That means that 3rd party companies like Bethesda and 2k are ALREADY and have been signed on. And there may be many more to come. And Nintendo is starting to shift to the older demographic of teens/young adults. So if Ubisoft comes on, we wont just get a Raymam Legends sequel, we might get the next 4 AssCreed's, WatchDogs 2. All that fun shit. I really think that this will be succesful and exceptional. Feel free to argue.
Here's the thing. It's basically the next iteration of the Nvidia Shield, except with Nintendo games. Shields last about 4-6 hours. To keep the price below the $300 mark, I wouldn't expect it to be that powerful, but it's still going to be more than adequate. One thing to keep in mind is that it's going to be a different architecture than what the One and PS4 use, so that may become a deterrent to publishers. Hopefully that's not the case. I really want them to knock the UI out of the park.
Was just pointing it out because the modular controller reminded me of the OUYA's and there a risk of a shitload of sucky (aka mobile, free-to-play) games, if Nintendo doesn't curate content.
The public response for this ad has been remarkably positive. I think this is a great step to rebrand themselves. I imagine we'll hear more about pricing, specs, peripherals, and other necessary information next week at the investor meeting. It's important to note that they're not going after Sony and Microsoft's audience in this ad. They're going after the Apple and Samsung casual crowd that left their consoles shortly after the Wii's hype died down.
Dumb name? I can't think of a better name that represents the philosophy of the console. Not surprising coming from the guy who said the Vita would crush the 3DS.
Gabo Luján Guess Nintendo is more focused on selling this thing to uneducated rubes like you than to reigniting interest from disenfranchised fans of Nintendo.
Your comment has nothing to do with the comment you are replying to. What is an uneducated "rube" anyway? Nintendo is CLEARLY focused on reigniting interest in its fans and dissenters. Hence the Switch. It is noobs like you who can't appreciate an awesome piece of hardware like the Switch. I have been playing Nintendo since before you were born, so who is the noob now?
Why does everyone keep saying its not powerful because skyrim came out 5 years ago. Are we NOT getting an HD remaster of skyrim in 8 days or are we getting that remaster on the Switch? Im pretty damn sure bethesda would release the remastered port on the switch and not a 5 year old game.
If I'm not mistaken wasn't the Wii U more powerful than both the Xbox 360 & PS3? My guess is that it will sit between Wii U and Xbox One/PS4 in terms of power (I can't see them launching this weaker than the Wii U).
gamingarcadiaHD Yup wiiu was a little more powerful than 360/PS3. Rumors are that Switch is somewhere between wiiu and X1/PS4. That's pretty impressive given that it's about the size of an iphone 7 plus.
gamingarcadiaHD tbh i don't think Nintendo needs that much power for the games to be good. Even though skyrim is 5 years old, the switch is a (semi) portable console. Plus, it shows that Nintendo is getting more 3rd party support. Hey, maybe it'll have Fallout 4 if It has other Bethesda games. Well, that just my little speech on the switch.
Nintendo has opened the floodgates for AAA cross-platform games on mobile devices (eg. iOS, Android). The hardware is Tegra, which implies the next generation Tegra, which should put it at roughly 2x current Tegra X1 given mobiles generational performance trajectory. This means that it will roughly as powerful as the Xbox One. But what is more important is that a mobile chipset implies that next year's tablets and smartphones will be running at 1x and 0.5x performance meaning that they become far more attractive targets for porting games and with the weight of a huge mobile market -- in fact, Nintendo is giving the market credibility. The big question is this: will mobile stores and mobile markets support games of this type and provide incentive for developers to port their titles? I expect that deeply discounted, slightly old games may find themselves on mobile. Joined with streaming services like Playstation Now, and an increasing presence of AAA developers targeting mobile, mobile is building serious momentum. Expect Samsung to release clip-on controllers on their upcoming devices...
Sean Lumly you are an idiot if you think this is going to be as powerful as even Xbox one, it's a tablet with detachable controllers no more powerful than current tablets, it's got a tegra X1 chip not even the x2 as that would blow the cost and battery life out the water. It can play PS3 and Xbox 360 games that's about it absolutely won't be getting current gen graphically intense game ports.
Jeremy Hansen Bro you're delusion if you think this is as powerful as current gen consoles. Essentially Nintendo took the wii u and made it into a tablet
" This means that it will roughly as powerful as the Xbox One." Not possible for 2 reasons. Tegra Pascal (the latest) only has 0.512 Tflops of 32-bit floating point performance if clocked at 1Ghz (256 CUDA cores x 1000mhz x 2 operations/cycle). That means even if the Switch's graphics SOC has 2000mhz clocks, it would still not be as powerful as the Graphics Core Next GPU in Xbox One. Second, the Xbox One has a lot more memory bandwidth. That mobile Tegra processor is unlikely to have more than 50GB/sec of memory bandwidth. www.anandtech.com/show/10596/hot-chips-2016-nvidia-discloses-tegra-parker-details
***** not saying everything they did is a hit, but they do have a history of coming up with great ideas. They frustrate me with their insistence that specs dont matter and that they can get along without third parties, but the way this console is looking so far is promising. I hope the display is 1080p
It's a 720P Screen and a 1080P in console mode. The person who leaked this info I just gave also gave the info for what we would see upon reveal days before.
UserX-1099 around 300 ppi is where your brain stops being able to spot individual pixels at the average viewing distance. Your brain is still able to perceive the extra detail that 400 ppi provides, even if it cannot see individual pixels anymore. Look at an iPhone 7 and then a Samsung Galaxy S7 and tell me you don't see a difference. As for 200 ppi, that is below even the 300 ppi mark that I stated earlier. A 1080p display would have 350 ppi. They could go with 900p and I would be cool with that.
They should have called it Nintendo Go. Much better name i think, and the benefit of gaming on the go is far more unique than being able to switch screens
But Then It'd Just Look Like A Much Cooler Looking 3Ds Or PS VITA. Switch Makes It Obvious That It Can Switch Into Different Types. Gaming On The Go Has Already Been Accomplished. Now Having A Console Like Control On A Handheld Is Much Better. Saves Ya Time On Bringing That Big Console And Charger And All Those Other Cables. It Isn't Just Switching Screens. It's Greater Than That.
The Wii Golf thing that Tim was talking about, with the Wii U GamePad on the floor and hitting the ball with the Wii remote, definitely happened. It's called the golf game on Wii Sports Club. www.nintendolife.com/reviews/wiiu-eshop/wii_sports_club_golf
fucking switch is not a dumb name, the "itch" reminds you of the click sound when you "switch" it in and out remember the red lego they keep on repeating. People want to try doing it this is addictive marketing
Lesten Truth sure, it sounds like an off brand soda, extremely gimmiucky, I thought NX was ok or something like evolution. "the switch" doesn't have a ring to it. I just think they could have come up with something way better
If you don't like the Switch name, just call it the NS. Sounds really close to NX. "Yo. You got the NS?" Timmy asked. "...yeah," Timmy's brother replied.
Source? Also, compatible with Wii U games? There's no second screen, tho... Maybe you mean ported Wii U games? Because MK8 and Splatoon are likely ports, not straight-up Wii U emulation.
HaloEliteLegend source is all over the internet and second yes I do mean ports, no reason not to have it touch screen. what the guys are saying is that it isnt a highlighted point in the video
Ultimo D I think theres a very good chance theres at least motion control in the joycons. Especially since motion games are even still a thing for mobile phone games too. It would make the whole thing motion sensitive too when you plug them into the sides so yeah totally makes sense. I don't think that the screen is touch sensitive however. If it is, they seem to be moving away from their typical touchscreen thats based off of pressure and would be moving towards the kind of touch screens that are on phones. If they do that, thats going to up the price of the console considerably, which is why they haven't done it so far. But the other way as we've seen compromises screen clarity and then theres those little stick things for tapping. I don't see that in this one. No they're going for sleek and cutting out the bulk so it i doubt that the screen has touch ability if its going to be affordable too. However if thats true that would likely mean that it wont be backwards compatible with wiiu games and you'll either have to buy the games AGAIN as a virtual console when its available or just keep your old console. I just don't see how they would do the data switch like they did with the wii to wiiu with the way they've designed this new one. Even though the wiiu probably inspired this, it seems to be a whole new animal.
Colin, the Wii U was more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3, the Switch is running a custom Tegra chip from Nvidia with "fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries. NVIDIA additionally created new gaming APIs to fully harness this performance." the Tegra X1 came out a couple of years ago and it could push a Teraflop, that's a trillion floating point calculations per second. The Xbox One pushes 1.3 Teraflops. Between the custom design of the Tegra chip in the Switch and the software optimization quoted above means that it's likely that the Switch will be about as powerful as the Xbox One. The console doesn't need to be super expensive to deliver power similar to the Xbox One. The Xbox One came out three years ago, in the computer hardware industry that's old. Given a bulk discount on the SOCs they're using and the dated nature of the hardware the Switch could easily reach Xbox One levels of performance without a huge price tag.
Switch really helps distinguish the console as it's own thing. The name, coupled with the red branding (as opposed to the blue/white of Wii U) leaves no question to average consumers as to whether it's the new thing.
The Nintendo switch is just a wii u downsized into a tablet handheld with detachable controllers. Nintendo essentially took the wii u through it at the game pad and called it switch the new "home" console that's actually just tablet with detachable controls
Squirt4757 what has the ps2 got to do with anything? That's a console, this is a tablet with a tv out. Ever heard of the wii? People bought that too but third party support was poor. Third parties support it if people buy there games on that console and I don't see why you would want to buy a gimped Fifa on a tablet instead of on a console
Colin was complaining about the PS4 Pro not needing to exist and power doesn't make games better. Now he's worried about the Switch being underpowered. Hmmmm.
district5rookie Based on its relativity to the PS4 as it is in the current market. That was the argument. For the switch he's talking about it being relative to the competition (PS4/XB1)
district5rookie you're a moron. Marko has it right. To put an old game like Skyrim in the trailer tells you what you need to know about it's graphics power
Yeah, last? Nintendo has the money better and safer than the other 2 and it's the only one base purely on videogames not in other hardware or software.
banks why? They didn't lost money, they win with 3ds, amiibo, pokemon go, even wiiu let money with their games, why they need so desperatly to make it better with NS?
Yeah they did earn money from Pokémon Go, they own like 1/3 of The Pokémon company (plus their stocks rised, and yes they fell again but I think overall they were still higher).
Funny to get recommended this on the apparent cusp of Switch Pro reveal. This was before I discovered Kinda Funny, I think. Amazing to think that these were the thoughts and impressions back then, especially when everybody loves the Switch now.
6 mins in and I might be the only one but I love Greg's singing the tune from the advert. He does it all the time, just like I annoy my friends with. I wonder if he watches James Corden.
I don't think you need to worry about power because Nvidia is working on the Switch and on their official article it says that it will be using their most powerful graphics card.
They're talking about their architecture, which is indeed based on the same used by their current top of the line cards, but that does not mean it will be a very powerful GPU. Being a custom Tegra chip, I'm speculating it will be closer to the Xbox One than to the Wii U. and don't get me wrong, that level of power for a handheld would still be amazing!
Jamie Baxter cartridge technology has advanced significantly since the 90's and much much cheaper. The vita is an example of large games being on carts.
Brandon Young Yeah like Im just thinking about games like witcher 3, battlefield etc....and all future games....most will be close to 50gb if not more but I have seen 120gb micro sd cards for around $60 so they might be good
Two HDMI I am suspecting is a pass-through - so you can switch between TV/Switch by dropping it into the dock and removing it. The Passthrough is to remove the source switching otherwise required. Just my 2 cents
I could see 32gb being built into the tablet portion or something. Hopefully with an SD slot for extra memory though. I assume the base/dock would have extra storage as well.
Jason Lee what if Nintendo brought out some insane compact tech that made the switch as powerful as the competition. Probably not gonna happen, but it would be cool.
Pokemon Go is not a Nintendo game and it's also on phones not a Nintendo console/handheld.... and also more 25 year olds played that game than 10 year olds...
"also more 25 year olds played that game than 10 year olds" my definition of young = under 30. Also, Nintendo has a controlling stake in gam freak which owns Pokémon which is the IP pokomon Go is soly based upon. hence, any and all Pokémon games ever released are associated with.....Nintendo! remember this was basically the most successful mobile game lunch in terms of user downloads ever! do you honestly think that a company no one cares about could convince millions of ppl to play a broken game? also, do you have a source on the demographics of the game ?
Witcher 3 on the Switch would be amazing to see. I know it's unlikely, but I'd love to be able to take that game with me on a plane or road trip. Or just to have in my car during my lunch break or something
its funny how everyone is super excited about this reveal trailer.. the console design is beyond ugly, I would say they didnt even care. It is the ugliest Nintendo console to date, and when I read people saying that the Wii U looked ugly by comparison..I just lost faith in humanity. Also..there is no actual D-pad available unless you buy the pro controller..that is another thing that seems not so wonderful to me. It is the first time since I follow Nintendo (that is since SNES times) that I do not feel the least interested into buying this piece of hardware. If the Americans love this crap, good for them.
well isnt it obvious? look at the video, it shows some dudes in some american city, vanilla bland funky american music playing in the background and...basketball. Okay there is no apple pie and no flag, I give you that. This reveal primary targets the north American audience, for sure neither the Asian or the European audience.
Sensory Overload Studios Vancouver: It has Skyrim and probably Dark Souls (From Software is a partner), so I wouldn't be so sure saying it doesn't have the IP you want
Sensory Overload Studios Vancouver Directs next week! maybe they'll show off something more in terms of IPs. Also feel free to look up third party support so you can get a good idea of what you can expect.
Mikkel R P Wilson I didn't know those particular details, this does change things then. There's still a lot we don't know about the battery but if it manages to run long enough, and the From Software title(s) are are in my genre scope I will totally consider picking one up.
I'm excited for the Switch but I need to know two things, is it region free (yes I know Emily Rogers said so but I want to hear it from Nintendo) and does it have external hard drive support (the Wii U had it).
The Switch will make use of the GeForce GTX TITAN X and has a 2 TB hard drive plus backed with a free cloud storage system for your account that can hold unlimited information.
Never thought I'd be excited for another Nintendo console. Damn. NS reveal, RDR 2 reveal, and the first teaser for Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2. All within 48 hours. What a great time it's been!

Full fledged versions of Zelda, Pokemon and Fire emblem on one platform is going to be a great thing.
MikeGaming it's the Skyrim remaster that's just releasing on PS4/X1 too
really? Skyrim runs on XBOX 360 and PS3 and most likely even on higher resolution. This skyrim footage said nothing about the power of the Switch
Raphi Müller
Skyrim wouldn't function properly in former Wii devices, 360 and ps3 are still power houses and for a wii to have that bump in power is going to be great for them.
LOL what a senseless comment
뿡뿡! ^__^
LOL a comment that didn't amount to anything
If this has an achievement system then I'm completely switching to all Nintendo and PC.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Afifan909 yup, Nintendo is the only system that gives you something different that PC can't offer..... Plus nostalgia!
Thats the route Im going.
What do you mean Nintendo gives you something different? This isn't unique. Just like usual, they steal ideas and market the shit out of them to dumb mass consumers. This is literally just the Nvidia Shield with a Nintendo logo.
Douglas Harris Quit hating man. The Nvidia Shield doesn't play the kind of games the NS will.
4:35 "I don't see this selling more than the Wii." My guy...
The arrogance 😂
Type in switch, who knows what’s gonna come up......Nintendo switch
Haven't bought a Nintendo since the Gamecube, this appeals to me for sure (I don't own a portable either). I'll still play most multi plats on my X1 or PS4 but if this has a good battery life, fair price point, and access to Virtual Console, I am in. Practical vs a gimmick.
Kid Zarathustra I'm interested if the Switch has a great virtual console.
Yep. This is definitely stopping me from buying a 3ds for the new Pokemon. Maybe I'll just trade in the Vita for that until then, and if they allow 3ds games somehow I'll ... SWITCH.
Wouldn't be too hopeful about a good battery life.
The Wii golfing where you put the gamepad on the floor *did* happen. It's in Wii Sports Club.
I just searched up "switch" on google went on images and guess what I found, the Nintendo switch
Same, Colin isn't always right, most of the time tbh lol
Paulo Cardoso Right on, nice comment.
Sam Balsillie LOL, couldn't have said it better.
"I don't give a shit about families! " Tim Gettys 2016
"Nintendo Switch, hey it could be worse" Brilliant slogan!
The plus and minus button is start and select. The four buttons on the left side is the dpad. Up, down, left, right.
"I don't give a shit about families!" - Tim Gettys, throwing the Fast and Furious franchise out with the trash earlier today.
Greg staring at the camera cracks me up.
Is Mizzou Greg Miller's Alma Mater?
yup!
BrammerHammer23
When you can spot a newcomer to this channel from a mile away.
JRod I've been watching the channel for a while. Just not stuff with Greg Miller. I usually watch the sex stuff. My lady and I like it.
Sooo, yeah, new to the channel...watching a 5 minute 'show' once a week is not being a part of the channel.
However, welcome, hope you enjoy the other content too!
Matt Blattner Pretty sure watching content on the channel means you watch the channel, the duration doesn't make them your lesser
The control pad on the Joy-Con isn't a traditional cross shape because when you are using it horizontally, they act as the ABXY buttons.
They had me at Skyrim on the go
oh stop it! Skyrim on the go lol we have played it on console, pc, you can't possible be that excited for it to arrive on the switch haha :) im with you but just hope this thing sells well and turns out cool im highly interested in this console though
skyrim confirmed not coming to switch LOL by bethesda
NEETisLEET so what is that thing we saw in the trailer? you know if its not confirmed this is false advertisment
Miguel Vallecillo ikr !!! I'm like oh fuck yeah I can walk and play SKYRIM awwwwwwww yeahhhhhhh
Thomas Hughes thank you, you are one of the few people who understand the difference
Tim: "Does that look like a toy? Does that look like a toy???" (aggressively pointing at screen, confident his claim is unmatched)
*silence for a few moments*
Greg: "Well I mean the controllers, yeah"
lol
Just remember Nintendo we want an achievement/trophy system please .
Chris Dodd and a good chat system
superchar151 You can talk to people at the Hipster rooftop party or after a game of shootie hoops whilst playing NBA 2K17
Chris Dodd PLEASE. I've seen mock ups that connect achievements to my Nintendo rewards, Nintendo needs to hop on that.
isn't this what happened last time with the wii u? they showed third party support for wii u and then nothing a year later?
xzcvr it would be the same thing if the same happened to Switch... Let's Just wait
xzcvr But this has 2k17 and Skyrim Remastered in the Reveal trailer. Feel free to argue.
xzcvr the list of partners of the wii u was half of what it is now ,google it
Juan Andres Valiente montiel same shit they are gonna drop a year after like last time
When they showed off the Wii U, some of the games that appeared never actually released on the system (Metro: Last Light for example).
"It's basically the next iteration of the Nvidia Shield"
"Shield 2: Nintendo edition"
Getting an OUYA vibe outta this. Maybe just because of its looks, but still...
cybust true but Nintendo has what ouya didn't, quality
Sean Turner
Does Nintendo really have quality on its side?
On software? Absolutely. On hardware? Less solid lately.
But really I'm sure nobody here is comparing new Nintendo console to Oyua.
+JRod What's the last Nintendo game you played?
And gamers who commute. Totally.
Dumb name? I can't think of a better name that represents the philosophy of the console. Not surprising coming from the guy who said the Vita would crush the 3DS.
Sure, PS4 and Xbox One are great names... Yea right. At least Switch tells you exactly whats it all about
Gabo Luján
Guess Nintendo is more focused on selling this thing to uneducated rubes like you than to reigniting interest from disenfranchised fans of Nintendo.
Yeah, it brings up memories of when your Dad tells you to get a switch off a tree so he can whoop your ass with it. :)
Gabo Luján yeah it's for people who's brains are switched off
Your comment has nothing to do with the comment you are replying to.
Gabo Luján
Xbox and Play Station are great brand names. Wii sounds like what a 3 year old would say going down a slide.
X GONNA GIVE IT TO YA
I found Colin to be really negative towards the end of his kinda funny time
He had a very arrogant attitude.
My guess is that it will sit between Wii U and Xbox One/PS4 in terms of power (I can't see them launching this weaker than the Wii U).
gamingarcadiaHD no, the wiiu was not more powerful than the xbox or ps
BHar are you sure? Everything I found says the Wii U was more powerful than the 360 & PS3 (definitely not the PS4 or Xbox One).
gamingarcadiaHD Yup wiiu was a little more powerful than 360/PS3. Rumors are that Switch is somewhere between wiiu and X1/PS4. That's pretty impressive given that it's about the size of an iphone 7 plus.
Indeed
ps4/xb1 > Switch > WiiU/PS3/XB360
gamingarcadiaHD tbh i don't think Nintendo needs that much power for the games to be good. Even though skyrim is 5 years old, the switch is a (semi) portable console. Plus, it shows that Nintendo is getting more 3rd party support. Hey, maybe it'll have Fallout 4 if It has other Bethesda games.
Well, that just my little speech on the switch.
"Switch" is a pretty good name. Opens up a lot of opportunities for good marketing slogans :) "Nintendo: Make the Switch!"
Sean Lumly oh God than you maybe another pc gamer or someone that knows Nvidia tech lol great post.
RedOneWTF bro it's the x1 Apu but Nvidia said that the base uses a ver of parcels gpu
Jeremy Hansen Bro you're delusion if you think this is as powerful as current gen consoles. Essentially Nintendo took the wii u and made it into a tablet
" This means that it will roughly as powerful as the Xbox One."
Not possible for 2 reasons.
That guy in the background ALWAYS makes me smile when he laughs XP
this sounds fucking cool. this is why i like nintendo. They have genius engineers and designers.
***** That would suck
it's a 6" screen. 720p is 236 dpi. It's more than enough.
The reveal surprised a lot more than I thought it would. I have to say i'm pretty excited.
Colin's such a Sony fanboy, lol. Really fun watch though.
"I'm back…for now." - Colin M. Lmao
Tim is going to love it, Colin will hate it, and Greg will be indifferent. Don't even have to watch.
Cody Johnson colin "i'm back!"
I'm getting Gamecube vibes from the Switch. And in the best possible sense. No gimmicks, just a console that's made to play games. Let's go!!
They should have called it Nintendo Go. Much better name i think, and the benefit of gaming on the go is far more unique than being able to switch screens
80sKid but then everyone would pass it as just a handheld. Switch emphasizes that it's a hybrid.
NintenGo
I already said that to a friend earlier today lol
You make a good point
But Then It'd Just Look Like A Much Cooler Looking 3Ds Or PS VITA. Switch Makes It Obvious That It Can Switch Into Different Types. Gaming On The Go Has Already Been Accomplished. Now Having A Console Like Control On A Handheld Is Much Better. Saves Ya Time On Bringing That Big Console And Charger And All Those Other Cables. It Isn't Just Switching Screens. It's Greater Than That.
"You could have called it the fucking Artichoke and it would have been better than Wii U". You're not wrong Colin!
It's the Nintendo Switch cuz it's gonna make Colin SWITCH back to Nintendo!
These videos make me so happy Colin left.
hahahahaha the Nintendo Artichoke. Colin is the best
fucking switch is not a dumb name, the "itch" reminds you of the click sound when you "switch" it in and out
remember the red lego they keep on repeating. People want to try doing it
this is addictive marketing
no, its stupid
+glenn longoria Explain why it's stupid? Objectively.
I got addicted to the sound as soon as the third click came in the trailer. :D
I'd bet my first child that those "joy-cons" are motion control as well. Also the screen will be touch sensitive.
Ultimo D the screen is confirmed to be touch screen to be compatible with wii u games buddy
Thanks for giving it to me X
Wouldn't it be ironic if Final Fantasy VII finally comes out on a cartridge for a Nintendo console.
Nope
Who else caught Greg's look to the camera for Fran regarding Mario Kart Double Dash? I was dead lmao
im just here to here lord moriarty's opinion....
They shoulda called it the "Nintendo Go"
Gabriel LaFlex someone hire this person
They probably want it to last more than 2 months.
Gabriel LaFlex that name would have completely brushed over the home console portion of the console though, not what nintendo wants
probably didn't use that because it could be negative.
Then they would have to get the name rights which a website already has.
Switch really helps distinguish the console as it's own thing. The name, coupled with the red branding (as opposed to the blue/white of Wii U) leaves no question to average consumers as to whether it's the new thing.
Well nintendo is back on my radar for hardware after 12 years :P
"I love hot people! I don't give a shit about families!" - Tim Gettys 2016.
The Nintendo switch is just a wii u downsized into a tablet handheld with detachable controllers. Nintendo essentially took the wii u through it at the game pad and called it switch the new "home" console that's actually just tablet with detachable controls
mickthemaddy with downsized wii u hardware* is the words you were looking for. It won't be playing PS4/xbone games
mickthemaddy it's a slightly more powerful vita essentially. Not enough memory bandwidth and raw power to touch consoles. 0.5 terraflops
Johnny Most you realise having not enough power means no third party support just like the wii u so have fun with no third party support
RedOneWTF third party comes if people buy the console. ever heard of the PS2 buddy?
Squirt4757 what has the ps2 got to do with anything? That's a console, this is a tablet with a tv out. Ever heard of the wii? People bought that too but third party support was poor. Third parties support it if people buy there games on that console and I don't see why you would want to buy a gimped Fifa on a tablet instead of on a console
The Wii U golf game actually did end up happening as a part of Wii Sports Club, but not until much later in the console's life.
Marko Rabasovic That wasn't his argument.
district5rookie Enlighten me, in this video or the older one?
district5rookie you're a moron. Marko has it right. To put an old game like Skyrim in the trailer tells you what you need to know about it's graphics power
district5rookie Couldn't be more different. Seriously, you're a moron.
"I don't give a shit about families!" 😂
I completely disagree that the Switch will be the last effort for Nintendo for dedicated hardware
Yeah, last? Nintendo has the money better and safer than the other 2 and it's the only one base purely on videogames not in other hardware or software.
banks why? They didn't lost money, they win with 3ds, amiibo, pokemon go, even wiiu let money with their games, why they need so desperatly to make it better with NS?
they didn't make money for Pokémon Go
Yeah they did earn money from Pokémon Go, they own like 1/3 of The Pokémon company (plus their stocks rised, and yes they fell again but I think overall they were still higher).
3:08 the greatest dance moves of all time.
I might actually buy a Nintendo again.
Funny to get recommended this on the apparent cusp of Switch Pro reveal.
This was before I discovered Kinda Funny, I think. Amazing to think that these were the thoughts and impressions back then, especially when everybody loves the Switch now.
We should all just call it the NS.
6 mins in and I might be the only one but I love Greg's singing the tune from the advert. He does it all the time, just like I annoy my friends with. I wonder if he watches James Corden.
no what hurts the vita is the price of the memory card
The second I heard about the switch, I headed straight to your channel!! I was stoked to hear about Tim's opinions.
CaptainViewtiful98 you sure? it doesn't look like the g-force gtx fits into that
Daniel Anderson Tiecher it's powerful to run breath pf the wild smoothly without being docked, it's going to be fine.
CaptainViewtiful98 About that... Trying to cram a 1080 into that?!?!?! BAHAHAHA... But hopefully it will be pretty powerful.
its a custom built GPU based on the top tier nvidia GPU cards specifically made for the Switch.
Dat Double Dash look tho! You looked into my soul then Greg!!
Also interesting to see how Skyrim will be put on a cartridge....wont that cost alot??
Jamie Baxter cartridge technology has advanced significantly since the 90's and much much cheaper. The vita is an example of large games being on carts.
Kenton Bowton Yeah but vita games are not 50gb which is where most modern games are today.
Jamie Baxter Skyrim is far from 50gb, but I get what your saying.
Brandon Young Yeah like Im just thinking about games like witcher 3, battlefield etc....and all future games....most will be close to 50gb if not more but I have seen 120gb micro sd cards for around $60 so they might be good
Rofl if they have to pay $60 for the cartridge, you'd have to pay $120 for the game.
Two HDMI I am suspecting is a pass-through - so you can switch between TV/Switch by dropping it into the dock and removing it. The Passthrough is to remove the source switching otherwise required. Just my 2 cents
I like it, but it seems obvious its focused on mobile over console experience, and for me thats a disappointment.
That is not obvious. Your comment is derpy. The focus is CLEARLY on both mobile and home experiences. Thats why its call a fucking SWITCH.
Tim: I LOVE hot people
Greg: You are one.
Idk why that bit made me laugh so much.
younger ppl don't care about Nintendo, what!???? Pokémon go anyone??
dude in the middle is obviously not sold (which is fine) but I wish he would just state that. 32 gb part is a twitter rumor lol
OPINION!
Starsailor If you feel that your opinion is more valuable than ours, good for you.
Starsailor Unpopular opinions are hate speech. Just saying.
I think it looks clean ans sharp and what does them being "Americans" having to do with any of this
well isnt it obvious? look at the video, it shows some dudes in some american city, vanilla bland funky american music playing in the background and...basketball. Okay there is no apple pie and no flag, I give you that. This reveal primary targets the north American audience, for sure neither the Asian or the European audience.
"Wii golfing, where you put the pad on the ground. I don't think that ever actually happened". It actually did.
I told Sony to do this for the vita and smart phones. lol good for Nintendo.
Too bad the experiences and IP I want aren't there.
might lead to it though ;)
Sensory Overload Studios Vancouver: It has Skyrim and probably Dark Souls (From Software is a partner), so I wouldn't be so sure saying it doesn't have the IP you want
Sensory Overload Studios Vancouver Directs next week! maybe they'll show off something more in terms of IPs. Also feel free to look up third party support so you can get a good idea of what you can expect.
Good thing the experiences and IPs I want are there.
Mikkel R P Wilson I didn't know those particular details, this does change things then. There's still a lot we don't know about the battery but if it manages to run long enough, and the From Software title(s) are are in my genre scope I will totally consider picking one up.
They could literally do VR with the table. They already have the controllers with Joy Con. This is the most versatile machine ever.
Can we cal it thx Nintendo NS. Saying "Switch" :/
Gonna play with my Switch
Alex That abbreviation means Nintendo Nintendo Switch
Nintendo National Socialism, awesome abbreviation.
Watching this and C&GL at the same time. So much excitement in the air... I Love it..
Tim is such a legend ❤️
I'm excited for the Switch but I need to know two things, is it region free (yes I know Emily Rogers said so but I want to hear it from Nintendo) and does it have external hard drive support (the Wii U had it).
The Switch will make use of the GeForce GTX TITAN X and has a 2 TB hard drive plus backed with a free cloud storage system for your account that can hold unlimited information.
Colin's delivery of "I think the name is stupid" was A+!
Never thought I'd be excited for another Nintendo console. Damn. NS reveal, RDR 2 reveal, and the first teaser for Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2. All within 48 hours. What a great time it's been!
Colin dropping those Uber plugs. Good work!
