He's def a Legend and so consistent in his interviews , he tells them the same way no changing them, so you know he's being honest and not adding or making shit up ... Preem is def HOF in hip hop

Preme is the 🐐 He might not have sold the records Dre, Tim or Swizz have but he can make songs with Group Home, Bahamadia, Guru, Jay, Big L, Fat Joe, Nas, Jeru, D’Angelo, Krs, M.O.P., etc and make em all dope and become classics. The dude is amazing. He even made a song with Limp Bizkit sound 🔥🔥🔥

Two Cents J premo and pete rock influenced more young producers than any other... From drums to cuts, to sample structure, to bass lines to overall song production. Jaydee (Dilla) spent many years of his young career analyzing these dudes whole sound and technique. He became a master himself as a result. Peace to GrapLuva, Large Pro, Easy Mo, Lord Finesse and Show Biz, Erick Sermon, Beatnuts, Ghetto Pros, Etc!

kids dont realise this is the type of golden nugget you would buy magazines for, you would just find a gem every once in a blue moon and it would not just make youre day or the fact that you would read it over and over for the next year but shit like this back in the days would change youre life.As a beatmaker i remember finding a Preemo interview where he mentioned he would just go throigh records for days, weeks, maybe a year untill he had found that specific sound he was looking for to fit the beat, and i ended up using that slice of knowledge and really got busy with it...i hope kids r taking these gems from podcasts today (as knowledge is in abundance right now) and not just appreciating it but using it to there advantage....I see kids type in songs from the last 5-6 decades saying how they wish they was living in them days as a kid (70s,80s,90s for example). But if you ask me (born in 81) i think if you into this music, or whatever it is ure creative at, I think right now you as a teenager to a man on the other side of 40 i think theres no reason why you cant get to where you wanna be , aslong as you stay original, humble, persistent and dedicated we in a good time to shine...its far from over., this a really dope interview, big fan of Rapaport too ,great actor, great energy and is humble.peace

Mike, you are the man for this interview. Premiere and Gangstar are the reason I know good hip-hop and have listened to the good stuff from the beginning. I taught myself to dance listening to that 2001 Full Clip album with DJ Quick coming on every minute or so promoting the album release over the tracks, lol. My favorite hip-hop song of all time is still Above the Clouds. Great questions and I learned more about Premo that I didn't know before and I respect him so much more now. My favorite DJ of all time!!! And now you are my favorite interviewer!! Much respect and love:)

Dear Mr. Rapaport. This Interview is from now on one of my Top 5 Interviews on YT/with Premo, if not Top 3... Why?
-You Sir, are the embodiment of the ultimate "Interviewer"
-You loose it when you love something and you are not ashamed to show it to your interview partner OR the audience. (Artists AND fans love that ishh)
-You embrace the culture the way it NEEDS to be embraced...
-... and (most importantly) YOU KNOW YOUR SHIT!!!!!! - I will always be thankful for you sticking to the "I´m the man" / "Speak Yo clout"-subject!!! I wanted to hear this answer since "Daily Operation"
came out in the early 90s....and all of a sudden (in 2018) YOU SIR asked the the question completly out of the blue. Thank YOU for showin so much appreciation.
I am a fan from now on! #wordisbond

One thing that stands out the most when you listen to any longer bit with preem is his attitude; even though he IS the single most influential producer in the history of rap and one of the objectively greatest beatmakers out there, he always speaks (and probably see the world) out of perspective of a fan. Even when - very seldom - he acknowledges his impact, he's still humble and full of joy that he could witness this or that. He SHOOULD be introduced to Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
I especially liked the bits when he talked about stuff he didn't know in the beginning; Technical things, like the bit about sampling the drums (even though he did sample melodies) or other things - I didn't know that shit either when I started and hearing that my hero had same issues and went the same roads as I did later on makes me feel better about myself; we're all humans after all.
But there's some praise that has to be given to Rapaport too; You, my dude, were always an actor for me, first and foremost. But seeing you asking those questions - so thought out and well prepared - made me sit in awe. I usually don't listen to podcasts much, but yours is for me up there, with Talib's People Republic. If there were rap pulitzers, you deserve at least three.
