In the 100+ year history of IndyCar Racing, only one driver has ever won the Triple Crown. It is a rare feat to win 2 crown jewels, but it is a far more rare feat to win all 3. Al Unser, Sr accomplished the feat in 1978. Since then, only one driver came close, Gordon Johncock in 1982. Tonight is Round 3 of the P1 Broadcasting Triple Crown Challenge. King Robert III backed up his win in Michigan with another at Indianapolis. That is two legs of our triple crown. Can Robert win at Fontana to become the first P1 Triple Crown champion?? Long considered the pinnacle of American motorsports, Indy car racing features the world's fastest oval track racing, with wheel-to-wheel -- and wheel-within-wheel -- finishes pretty much standard operating procedure. The oval track action in the iRacing.com IndyCar Oval Series is no different.
The heart of the series is the Dallara IR18. With 700 horsepower on tap and a fixed chassis setup with a wide "sweet spot", the versatile Dallara is equally at home on ovals of all shapes and sizes, be they speedway or superspeedway, one milers or less.
