I was a member of this choir... I was the one of the smallest there and I still remember, I was just enjoying it as though we are just playing with my friends
I was a member of this choir, not anymore though, singing this song was such a miracle, even hearing our conductor say that we're now gonna sing it was so joyful.
Commenting from Nairobi, Kenya.. Grew up in the early 2000s, we did not have a lot of radio options. KBC is kinda like our BBC and they used to play this song first thing at 5am. My mum used to taunt me, just turn the radio and play it. The version we had contained extra lyrics (the lion never sleeps). My mum passed on when I was 11, been looking for this song all my life and finally found it today!!!!
Wow, I spent 5 weeks visiting family in Nairobi in 1975. Best trip ever, the people were so nice, was able to visit Nakuru, stay at Treetops 1 night and swim in the ocean at Mombasa. Because my bro-in-law was on a 2 year missionary trip while also working there we had access to more spots than tourists. So sorry about your mother, I lost mine at 15. It's not easy.
This is one of the happiest songs ever - and all the different jungle sounds are amazing and I so appreciate how much the different parts were explained - the base, the tenor, the alto and soprano but I also love the falsetto - truly a joy to listen to and I think a true masterpiece !!!
When I was a little girl I used to drive my mother crazy making all those same jungle sounds with my mouth. It kept my brother and sisters highly entertained. Especially when our mothrr started chasing me around the house.
I've listened to this song ever since I was a little kid. I never thought I would ever get emotional and cry hearing this song but this version just made me bawl my eyes out. This choir is simply the best !
European nations learn English (ESL) all throughout their school years. Especially in larger cities. And I would say most of these kids have had English training. Also, like others mentioned when I was in choir, we had to sing in Latin, French, German, & Spanish even though we'd never been trained in the those languages. With the gift of singing comes the gift to memorize the words and sounds in the lyrics. I can't recall any one of us having any difficulty memorizing the lyrics in Latin or other languages. We all embraced it enthusiastically. It's part of the giftedness of singing.
The opening of this beautiful performance is the closest thing we’ve got to a real jungle. Closer than the sound from any zoo. Just a talented blend of souls bringing a beautiful song to life.✨
First time hearing this version...i thoroughly enjoying it..listening to it for the fourth time...love the jungle sounds ...beautiful to hear...this song will never get old.
It's cute but not the best I've ever heard. One thing that has always bothered me is that Lions do NOT live in the jungle so any version celebrating that part of the lyrics (written well after the original song) just sounds silly to me.
Tami Collins I hope you find other versions they did a decent job - great on the sound effects but this def has been done better - they kinda sucked the soul out of it - possibly bcz they're a younger men's group, learning about technical vocal skills - rather than a seasoned group, who understands when to drop certain formal language in singing they'll continue to do better, if they keep practicing best I ever heard was Ladysmith Black Mambazo live - but their version is closer to the original, and doesn't have any words - you can feel everything in their voices - the English words kinda change the tone of its original meaning
I would like to express my gratude, first to the God and, the amazing musical director, and musicians and singer to have giving us this lovely music of comfort, hope, hope and rest. May I encourage the young people you are creating mericle of hope, peace. Keep singing and heal our world.
Incredible! This is a stunner. I can even imagine the initial practicing - all the fun these boys must have had when each had a go to their animal sounds. I really enjoyed listening to this. Very creative. ♫

Marvellous! I grew up in Africa and this song accompanied my youth. No one could sleep during our dawn choruses, and a walk through the bush late afternoon was often very noisy too especially if you were in forest areas.
