  • What Mondo Duplantis JUST DID We’ve Never Seen Anything Like This!
You heard that clearly, right? Swedish-American pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis continues to exhibit his dominance in the sport! That ‘fire’ brought him to where he is today: a top athlete in the sport and a world record holder.
Armand "Mondo" Duplantis, born in Louisiana in 1999, has long been pegged as the one to watch in men's pole vaulting. But few, even among the most avid track and field followers, would have expected him to break the world record so quickly.
His obvious excellence in the sport is not too surprising, though, as he was born to an American pole vaulter father and a Swedish long jumper mother. Between the two, Mondo opted to compete internationally for his mother's home country. In 2015, barely even 16 years old, he won the world under-18 title; almost two years later he had already broken the under-20 world record with a clearance of 5.90m, attracting the attention of the great Sergey Bubka, a Ukrainian athlete and the first pole-vaulter to clear 6.1 meters.

It is an extraordinary athlete, and a wonderful young guy. I followed Sergei Bubka during all his career and life gave me the opportunity to watch him achieving his goals, and writing his own story, hand by hand with the figures he admired when he was younger.

For Sergey Bubka, pronounce "Boobka". (The letter "u" sounding like it does in the word "but", for example, is a rarity specific to the English language. In most other languages in the western world it sounds like... in "Boobka"!

Sometimes I wonder why someone is born and revised in the USA and all the freedoms and privilege but refuses to represent USA in the Olympics? What has Sweden done for him.. what actual connections does he have to Sweden other than his mom was born there? I just don’t get it.

THE BAR HAS BEEN SET (PUN INTENDED) BY THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN REACH IT; PERFECTION IN ANYTHING IS RARE SO IT'S NOT HIS FAULT THERE'S NO-ONE WHO CAN MATCH HIS SKILL LEVEL. YOU GET A CHANCE TO SEE THE GOAT, YOU WATCH THE GOAT. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU WILL NOT SEE AGAIN FOR A GENERATION. AND YOU LET THE DECREASED LEVEL OF COMPETITION BE THE REASON YOU WON'T WATCH THE BEST? SAD. I DO HOPE YOU ENJOY THE UPCOMING CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS QUALIFIERS, OLYMPICS AND WORLDS

Why is he a traitor? In the US, almost no one pays attention to track and field, in Europe, however, track and field stars are held in high regard and appreciated. I cant imagine why he wouldnt want to represent a European country.

I do not think that word means what you think it means. Is Sweden the enemy of the United States? I suppose you would say the same thing about me because I live in a country that is an important ally of the United States. Is he giving aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States? Because of the circumstances of his birth, he is free to decide which country he wants to represent in the Olympics. End of story.
