    Your vision, future state, or north star as we use interchangeably, needs to be clear and inspiring. After all, it’s what drives an organization. Figuring out your vision can be a daunting task, but our guide will help you understand how to build a vision statement for your organization.
    First, determine a time frame. This helps to keep your vision on track and create a light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.
    Let’s say your time frame is 5 years. What does your customer set look like in 5 years? We want to analyze our current and new set of customers, the sort of products/services we are currently serving, and our plans for future products/services. We need to analyze our customer growth and retention in a current and future state.
    Next, let’s figure out what sort of operational excellence and innovation we have in our organization. For example, our technology, processes, and systems. What do the future and success look like in these areas and how will it aid our customer growth and retention?
    In order to move our operational excellence forward, we need the right people, capabilities, and structures in place.
    Finally, what do all these steps add up to dollar-wise? Or if you’re a nonprofit, what is the overall impact of these efforts?
    The intention of these questions is to generate ideas. Some will rise in importance over others. To build a vision statement, use these ideas to understand what you envision and why it matters.

    I like it! Those two questions are good.
    "What does success look like?"
    "What is different than today?"
    I was thinking, 'I need to complete this digital tool' or 'create this digital course' and a few other outcomes and as you asked those questions, I could feel the gears in my head starting to move trying to visualize what it looks like.
    I need to get the fly wheel started and then the time I use to coach people on Preply (20 hours per week) will be replaced by 15 hours of working with project managers working on the coaching side and a few functional managers keeping the business side going.
    It looks like people understand how all the systems work and have found methods for training new staff. It looks like people feel satisfied about their contribution to society and their customers are thriving. And, it looks like people are talking about the right things and making plans and achieving.
