Very well said Simon: Vision is what you imagine it has to be a just cause and pass the following test: 1-Resilient- Your vision can withstand the cultural, political and technological change. 2-Inclusive - The very words that you choose are an invitation to those who believe what you believe whether they are internal or external or an invitation to those who would like to contribute to what you believe I.e it must be open to everyone to feel part of the cause. 3-Service Oriented - In all relationships there is always a benefactor and contributor. And the primary benefit should always go to those other than the contributors. As a leader you should not make a decision to enrich yourself. You have to make decisions to help those you lead. You can make money etc but not as a primary benefit.
i have watched 8 or 9 videos (just now) about "best brand mission statements" and "top vision statements in business" and people said so many boring/dull descriptions of both "vision" and "mission" and provided examples of top companies like Nike or Tesla or Ikea. i was so turned off by all of it, until i found THIS VIDEO. thank you for providing such a SIMPLE AND SHORT yet powerful set of standards for me to include in my business. now i feel excited!
the future has no businesses or corporations, only people living harmonious lives. All the resources already exist and the people are motivated by the highest joy, achieved through the greatest harmony. There is only calm unity.
From a personal perspective, I found this really interesting and love the points raised. Ultimately, if we work to be in servitude to the needs of others, not only are we more likely to succeed from a financial perspective, but we offer something to help enrich our world around us
Nope. Mission is "why" you start a business - purpose. Vision is "where" you see the business going - goals. "How" to get it is the action plan - strategy.
*Hello everyone who will see this comment anytime in the future! I hope your 2021 will be so much better than your 2020. Stay strong, I am cheering for you!*
I love that you are promoting self development. This is also my purpose. I hope many more of us will grow together to become better and make the world better. Cheers!
thanks for explaining in such an elaborate way ! in our Urdu Language we have a saying = Do you wish to enjoy eating mangoes--or--- u wish to count the mango trees!!!! explains the thought process
I'm as confused as that old man. To me, it's simply the following: Mission is "why" you start a business - purpose. Vision is "where" you see the business going - goals. "How" to get it is the action plan - strategy. Good value system will keep the business inclusive, resilient and consistent.
Vision: how the future of business looks like it focuses on tomorrow Mission: how to get that future it focuses on today's activities to achieve tomorrow's vision.
Mission: the change/effect/improvements you set out to accomplish (the why) Vision: the things you build (the what and how) to serve your mission ...OR Vision: the new world you visualize Mission: building the things necessary to reach that reality. It's all semantics. Just make sure you understand your what, how, and why. I think this slipperiness with semantics is why so many successful thought leaders create a new set of jargon to share their ideas. It jumpstarts true listening since it takes you a step away from your ingrained associations.
Creating visionary statements can help businesses in a number of ways. Perhaps most importantly, it can help to create a clear and shared sense of purpose amongst employees. By articulating the company's ambitions and values, everyone can be aligned and working together towards the same goal. Additionally, having a strong and inspiring vision can also help to attract top talent, customers and investors. Lastly, a well-crafted vision can provide guidance and direction during times of change or uncertainty. In short, creating a visionary statement is an important step for any business that wants to achieve long-term success.
In my humble view, visions are more for start-ups, where entrepreneurs live or die based on their view of the future, and whether that future exists or not. Mission (and mission statements) was a 1960s concept where the aim was to get employees in big companies to work together, and sing off the same hymn sheet. One is clarity of the hypothesis behind the creation of the business, the other is corporate education and inspiration. Work out what you need and find the best solution for the job .
Yet some companies have nothing of the sort, other than making money and ONLY making money, both at the company level and the personal level. When that happens, it is very easy for the whole thing to unravel quickly. When times are good, of course everything is a-okay. When the sh*t hits the fan, everyone rushes for the exit. It is also a recipe for all sorts of shady things, like bribery, sacrificing subordinate for your own gain, etc. Because there is no higher cause, individual and company incentives trump all ethical concerns.
I am a fan of Simon Sinek.. But I think he's mixed up with the two terms benefactor vs beneficiary.. the contributor of any benefit is the benefactor and the one who is benefiting is the beneficiary.. you as the sales person should be the benefactor and the client should be the beneficiary.. yes true you also as a sales person gains many benefits by selling the products/services/solutions
If your statement is service-oriented, benefiting some other than the contributor. Does this not automatically mean that the statement is inclusive? Or can you think of an example where a service-oriented vision statement is not inclusive?
If you need to build a team to work with you and your contacts are limited to increase your mission's and you need to provide more network: How to have trust in the internet relationships today?
Hi. 🙂 Please, let us pray together. Dear God who art in heaven hallow be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever in Jesus Christ's name we pray, amen.
@0:07 there's no standardised definition? nobody is sure which one goes first? I clicked on this video to learn something. I'll leave it teaching the host something. Every business mentor I have had, and every book on business studies says, 'your vision is the where and why', it's like it implies, 'your vision' what you see for the business in the future. The mission statement is the how, a mission is the plan for how to achieve your vision
"You have to make decisions to HELP those that you lead". Beautiful words.
Sure, if you are self focused why build a company?!
Best definition of Vision I have run across...
"A picture of the future we seek to create."
Simon's vision aligns with that statement.

In school, we are taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, we are given a test that teaches us a lesson 😊
Thank you, Buddha.
Say it again for the people in the back..🤌🏾👏🏾
Most of what we all should remember is that without God in our hearts we going nowhere ( not matter what we do .)

Service-oriented

Simon makes everything profound
My children's books to help the homeless fits all 3 parameters! 💖

THIS video and the simple but profound aspects CAN become a Mission Statement for companies and a New Year's Resolution for the general public.
This was beyond powerful. Exactly what I needed. Thanks Simon!
Vision: how the future of business looks like it focuses on tomorrow
Mission: how to get that future it focuses on today's activities to achieve tomorrow's vision.
Mission: the change/effect/improvements you set out to accomplish (the why)
Vision: the things you build (the what and how) to serve your mission
...OR
Vision: the new world you visualize
Mission: building the things necessary to reach that reality.

Yes we can’t forget the sacrifices that implies to be an ethical líder
Thank you Simon
Resilient, Inclusive, service-oriented
Simple yet profound. Great talk.
Thanks for sharing! Stay safe!
This man is brilliant, once more.
It was a good video, took notes..
Now I will try my best to apply this🔥
Awesome and I am really grateful that I work for a company whose Vision statement passes all these 3 tests. :)
What about your vision?
Love the term of Beneficiary and contributory on the third point ❤️.
Thank You 🌟
Simple Vision is "whatever you think, think bigger " from Peter Senge and to think at Mission think again at Apollo. Litterally what is mission?
Wow I love the service orientated to help the primary investment - the people you lead.. Inspire on Sir Sinek 💕 💘 💕.
Thank you
Can someone provide an example of a mission/vision statement based on Simon’s advice?
Google and Facebook's success flies in the face of everything he just said.
Incredible.
Love it! Thank you!
Vision is what you see for the future, Mission is what you do for that future.
Understood all of it apart from the second one - still stuck in the Matrix on that one.
Insightful Sir Simon thank you for sharing.
Well explained thoughts.
Simon you are simply amazing would love to follow you
Resilent, inclusive and service oriented...
Thanks for your information 👍🙏
Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.
Love you Simon ❤
Really Love him😍😍
Thanks Simon! 👍🏻
I used to have visions before Terrorattacks happened in Israel. It was like a movie, but not asleep. etc.
Vision and mission 😌

My mentor
Inspire Simon. - someone
This is very good thanks because it is so true
Wonderful
Love From Saginaw Mi
As usual, you are an inspiring 💞🌟
I like Simon's shoes, where do I get them?
Where is this full interview? Is it on RUclips?
Wow!
If your statement is service-oriented, benefiting some other than the contributor.

If you need to build a team to work with you and your contacts are limited to increase your mission's and you need to provide more network: How to have trust in the internet relationships today?
Vision is your goal and mission is way to achieve that goal..
It's so simple why simon called it complicated?
Aaaaaaaaaand that explains why we have 0 vision in today's society...
Anyone has an example of what would it be for a stair contractor, this is pretty difficult!
Great advice that would have been even better if he would have dropped two or three real-life examples of visions that have passed his test.
When Simon said "Your business must be resilient to Technological, Political and cultural change", did he mean the PEST or PESTLE?
That's welch right?
what's the point of giving 3 tests as passing grade for defining vision? still don't get it.
Hi. 🙂 Please, let us pray together. There is too much talk about the vision. The vision for every company on the planet can be put into one single phrase: Play Infinite and Survive.

Plans change but visions don't
Every time I listen to Simon I feel like he's plagiarizing me
EA follows none of these lol.
EA Sports,still the same.😅
nice socks on both parties :)
Dont tell me show me. Ex:
Very nice 😍💋 💝💖♥️❤️
Is my vision having issue coz I see big headed (out of proportion) person? LOL
Thank you Simon
