If the band has some form of a buckle, like the one shown here, the watch will often come in a long box. If the band doesn't have a buckle, like the sports loop or the Milanese loop, it will come in a square box. Except I think that Apple ran short of long boxes and took, in some cases, to doing up the buckle & popping the watch in a square box.
