OMG, this was just what I needed. Santa brought me an Apple Watch and I had NO clue. I will have to watch your video a few more times to get the hang of it but thank you for taking the trouble to make it for tech-challenged folks like me. 👍👍😄
I'm watching your video and when I raised my Apple Watch series 9 to ask for the weather like you did without saying hey Siri, I got this message: Shortcuts says, "The action "Show Weather" is not supported on Apple Watch. My watch is updated to the latest watch iOS 10.2. I checked for updates and it says my watch is up-to-date. 10.2 (21S364)
Great tutorial. This is my first apple watch so I needed something like this to help me move along. However, you said you get back to the walkie talkie feature and never did. So I'm still unsure of that one. Great video otherwise.
Very clear and concise video for beginners....could have also had a mention of how to link music folder from iphone...but i'm not complaining.... many thanks
Excellent video. Thank you. I am about to buy my Apple Watch Series 9 and you are answering most of my questions. One thing I'm still confused about though....... if I buy the Aluminum version with GPS only, what will I NOT be able to do if my phone is not nearby? And how close does the iPhone need to be to the watch? Right next to it? X number of feet away? Without Cellular on the watch and with the phone not nearby, what will I NOT be able to do. In other words, I'm debating whether I need to buy the watch with just GPS or need to get the one with GPS plus Cellular..... Thanks in advance for an answer !!!
I don't know any technical details about distance but they need to maintain a bluetooth connection. Without cellular you can't make calls or send messages without your phone nearby and connected. You couldn't stream music (you could have some music downloaded onto your watch, however), search the web, etc. On the S9 the Siri offers some limited utility without a cell phone, but mostly limited to things like launching applications. I've seen examples in which a noncellular S9 couldn't use Siri to do things like simple math calculations. That said, I'm not sure there's anything a cellular watch can do that a non-cellular watch can't if the latter is paired with a nearby iphone. They really are kind of meant to work together as a complimentary team. Unless you want to use cell services in situations where you don't want to carry a phone (like maybe swimming, or running) I don't see a lot of downside to a gps only phone. OTOH, the additional $100 would allow you to get a cell plan for the watch if you felt it would be beneficial in the future. They'll run $5 to $10 / month and aren't available from a lot of MVNOs. I'm using USMobile and as of yet they don't offer plans for watches.
@@bradleyanderson247 Thank you !!! That is very helpful. I am seriously considering what you mentioned i.e. buying the cellular capable watch and then not adding the watch to my current mobile phone account. If after several months of use, I will know if I want/need to add the watch to my existing plan.
@@SusanMJB45 I'm an old guy who never really thought I'd use a watch much. My better half wanted me to have one to track activity and gave me an S6. I grew to like it more and more and view it as pretty essential. It makes my phone so much more useful. I can send a quick text to my wife using Siri and the watch without pulling out my phone. And since we ski, pulling out the phone is often a PITA. For a variety of reasons I decided to upgrade to an S9 and opted for the cellular version. If USMobile offers a plan I'll probably sign up, they say they're working on it. If not I wasted some inflated value credit card points. Cellular is certainly not essential unless you need to not carry a phone.
Excellent video. I'm not a total newbie, but I am glad I watched 😉 this video so I can set up my new watch (S3 doesn't have half the capability) Gardeners, you have to use "other" as an activity - shame on Apple lol. I had to google whether my iPhone 12 would be compatible and it is. Thanks for doing this!
Hi. I’m loving this video. You make the setup super simple. Where in the series 9 watch can I find all of the Mindfulness Sessions? I don’t see audio meditations/state of mind, purpose/meditate. TIA!
Started to watch this to get some tips and tricks as I’m new to Apple Watch. Got as far as this guy saying the strap is held in by magnets before I realised I knew more than him. It isn’t magnets holding the strap lugs at all.
Thank you so much! This was really helpful. I agree with the person that encouraged you to add time stamps or chapter headings then if I need a reminder for one feature I can jump to that instead of having to search for it.
IDK if this has anything to do with it but I ordered my watch through the Apple Store and had the option on my phone to upgrade to IOS 17. I had to find it under settings software upgrades.
Yes, I also think you may need IOS 17 to fix this. The phone tells you you need iPhone 8 + IOS 16 or later but that's incorrect... the watch suggests IOS 17 - when you check through one of those info buttons.. super confusing. But yea, try upgrading then try again, it worked with an iPhone 11. Mine required a software update to watchOS 10.0.2 immediately after scanning the screen..so probably why the IOS upgrade was necessary in the first place
Came here to learn how to use my brand new Apple Watch, got stuck at the beginning with a unboxing video and talking about carbon neutral, I only want to know how to use the watch that is on my wrist, down voting.
What!? I gotta have an Apple ios phone!? The lady at Walmart gauranteed me that this watch will connect with Android. I told her I have an Android phone. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Your camera work is just plain poor... lots of great shots of your wrist and hand with the controls of the watch almost completely off screen... super not helpful!!
You are very good at explaining clearly, especially for people that are not tech savvy. Keep up the good work.
Great video. Adding timestamps would be very helpful.

Or the apple stickers
As long as you wear your watch does it keep calorie and step count?
Yes, does track both when wearing the watch.
Outstanding video-especially the speed at which the information was given!
Does it work on iPad?
Thanks for a great tutorial. I plan to follow it to set up my new “9”.
Since getting the watch txt tones don’t come through on my phone, how can I get this back
How do I charge my watch? I didn’t receive a block and I noticed you didn’t inbox one either.
