In Japan, 'premium' basically means limited edition or limited quantity, otherwise the quality is the same as regular edition gunpla. watch zakuaurelius's video on it for a more in-depth explanation
just a lil tip, safer and less potentially model-damaging than scraping excess gundam marker paint away with a hobby knife is just using a toothpick! the wood is softer than the plastic, so it won't cut into or scrape away any of the actual model, just the paint, leaving things nice and clean.
@@noisetank15 That works good too, but toothpicks can be better for really precise stuff where you dont want any smearing, or the swabs might hit two surfaces at once and you only wanna clear off one. I do use those, myself, for larger areas.
That gold paint really did the trick. Especially for the sheer amount of gold the suit is supposed to be showing. I'd be tempted to hit all the gold with a gloss topcoat too, to push it even more Edited to add: ah, I see the problem with the topcoat now that I've finished the video...
Cathredral Gundam was an awesome redesign of the Denial Gundam and Schwarzritter Gundam. I really surprised on how BANDAI SPIRITS and SUNRISE has made a huge major redesigns on each of the Build Fighters suits from every timelines of every Gundam series.
I did find this kit on Buyee,it’s just in the range of $205-$256 and on eBay the cheapest I could find it for is $70,so you must have been incredibly lucky to find this for a good or at least decent deal on Buyee.
What's funny is I recently built the Schwarzritter and I paintes the gold too! It looks soooooo sick!! The cathedral gundam is one of my most wanted kits too!
If you have some clear yellow, spray that over the flat gold to give it a rich gold color and if you can spare the cash, get a cheap airbrush, floor sealer, 91% isopropyl alcohol, and some solo cups, mix floor sealer with the isopropyl to a 3:1 mix in the cup, poor into airbrush, then spray lightly n’ evenly to avoid dribbling buildup, once done let it sit for 10~15min, then you have an instant clear top coat

Cathedral and Schwarzritter both fall into that category of retool kits that aren't really that good but it's hard not to like them even as half the kit falls apart.
The worst thing is that we *know* they can do gold, and cheap, so why they continue to use the single shittiest possible colour for these kits is a mystery.
Red frame kai style bow sounds cool. Technically those wings were made into the shwertzsz big sword that splits so it's at some point a big buster sword that at some point splits and is at some point a projectile bow, and can at some point be used for flight purposes. At some point.
When it comes to Build Fighters and Build Divers kits, I always assume that with the exception of the eye stickers (and possibly the front and back camera stickers), every bit of color on the "actual" Gunpla that is represented with a sticker is actually painted, and thus looks much better than the versions we get out of the box. And since you actually painted quite a bit of it, it's easy to see how much better off it is for it (after all, you said yourself you only used two stickers apart from the eyes and cameras).

If you paint the beam hair of the Denial Gundam in gold and use the wings binder from the Wing Gundam or something like the wings from Build divers used with Gundam OO Sky on this kit here it will it the Angel vibe

I've used my micro sol/set for at least 10 years and they still work fine same as their micro crystal clear I've had humbrel decal fix for longer (over 20 years) and still have about a quarter left, then again I've got 1st &2nd gen citadel paints from the 90's I still use😁 I believe that some formulas just last forever ( until empty, spilled or left open too long

Hand painting details works well but trying to keep large areas smooth and perfect with a brush can be difficult. The brown on the Gundam with the sword at the beginning of the video was hand painted.
Do you mean in general or MechaGai specifically? Cause I think he's done it both ways, but you're supposed to snip and spray, depending on what kit it is, how much undergating it has, and if you genuinely care or are just having fun with colors

And I had the same problem when I first started customizing and painting, I had no alligator clips and had to buy some from my local hardware store. I only owned 8 for a while so I could only paint 8 pieces at a time. It took forever to finish but I waited until they restocked or I went to other hardware stores.

I've been using acetone on very, very thin swabs. Toothpicks better?

I use an eraser, but tooth picks seem a lot better
I used a rubber/eraser to remove the excess paint on the surface.

One of my favorite gundams of all time
cathedral gundam is 2 stars out of the box. But it is a great kit for spraying shiny gold paint, if you are into that kind of thing.

If you run out just use microsol / microset while Mr mark is great it's not the easiest to get
