I have a 35 Whelen barrel for my Encore Pro Hunter and I use it in Mississippi when I go home to deer hunt with friends. When I go out to Alaska to hunt I'll take my old Remington 700 LA that I had re-barreled to 35 Whelen. Now here in Arkansas I will be using my new CVA Scout 350 legend. I put a Primary Arms 1-6 FFP Griffin Mil reticle on it and at 100 yds with reloads I'm getting one ragged whole. Oh and I'm shooting suppressed.

What kind of velocity are getting shooting suppressed? And what grain bullet are you using ?

I bought one of these for my kid in 300 blkout. Took her first buck last year with a 70 yard neck shot. They are accurate guns.

What interests me about the 35 Whelen is the ability to shoot .357 pistol bullets. That would be great for plinking or varmints. Also the 35 Whelen has a lot of cast bullet options.

Your shot my favorite wildcat: 35 Whelen. In handguns, it was the 30 Herret.

I keep thinking of getting a Scout in one. What does the recoil compare to?

You are close on cartridge length restrictions in some states, but it's 1.810 in. And the 450bm, 460S&w, 400 legend, 360 buck hammer all met the restrictions not just the 350 legend.

The 35 Whelen is such a versatile cartridge. I'm building a custom on a 700 action right now. I can use it here in Iowa for deer. And I will be taking it to Idaho this year for bears.

I built a Tikka 35 Whelen AI for Iowa deer and it is SOOOO much better than the 350 Legend it replaced. Double the range and shoots great. You'll love 35 Whelen

I personally hate muzzle breaks, I'd rather deal with recoil than blasts. Always wanted a 35 Whelen , now I really do. Good video guys

I'm with you there...that muzzle break was not pleasant on such a rowdy cartridge. Glad you enjoyed the video!

@@indianhenoutdoors7764Do these have the ring you can put on if you don’t want to use the muzzle break? I keep thinking of getting one.

I made my own wildcat , I liked 8 mm mauser & had a good shooter . But living in AK the bears had me spooked , I shot lead slugs with valve grinding compound followed by polishing compound till I could shoot 338 bullets . I had 338 X57 .

Yeah the 35 Whelen is a true oldy, but goldy. I skipped the scout after I learned about the break action frame stretching when loading 35 Whelen to the proper 65k psi. I built a Savage 110 30-06 into a 31" 250gr 3,000+fps 5,000 ft.lb. Elk cannon. I'm definitely getting a 400 legend. Thanks for sharing!

    • @traviskuntz7503

How did you get 3k fps from a 250gr projectile?

Good to know. I have been wanting a stainless Whelen since i found them on the SW website late last year. Long been interested in the cartridge. Very versatile if you hanload, and a good thumper if you need it. For a long time, the only factory option was the Rem 7600, IF you could find one. They also made the 700 Classic in it one year. Also hard to find. Is that brake removable? It is hard to tell

350 L good cartridge and does well in areas restricted for it but everything else the Whelen. I built a cheep one w/ Mauser action n Shelen barrel, Hogue stock. Shoots pistol bullets, 35 Rem bullets to thumping 250-275gr stop em all's. Fun do it all round that doesn't kick the tar out of ya but yes 225gr+ will let you know something had a bad day.

I have several Whelen rifles and it’s Whe not Way anyway I have the CVA Stalker with a Bulgarra bull barrel I reload my rounds but even with the factory 200 grain and off sand bags this thing will put them in the same hole at 100 yds yes a super accurate rifle.

I recently bought a CVA Scout in 35 Whelen. I'm looking forward to talking it to the range .If I have acceptable results I will be looking a a 300 Blackout or the 350 Legend Suppressed.

      Or maybe the 35 remington

    • @troy9477

Frank Hamer had a Rem 8 or 81 in 35 Rem with the custom installed 15 round law enforcement magazine. I think one other member of the posse had a 35 Rem as well. There were 1 or 2 Colt Monitors (BAR), and a shotgun or 2. Being full auto, the Monitors got the most lead on target. A semiauto 35 would be no slouch though.

The 350 legend has far less recoil and ammo can be found for about $1 less per round than 35 whelen .

It sure who you’ve been talking to that is saying you need multiple barrels, but you’re either firing a full auto 50 cal, or a civil war Gatling gun. Because my entire walls of firearms, and everyone’s firearms I know, only have one barrel 😂😂😂
