Its interesting that mafex went with a cloth jacket fir gambit but a -lastic one for Hush. (also has jim lee just been redrawing gmbit as different characters for 30 years? Gambit, grifter, maverick, hush)

I heard in another review why we got a plastic one, can't remember the reviewer but basically the theory I heard is because you don't really see hush with his jacket off they didn't have a good enough reference so they didn't want it coming off, and I personally think theyre testing the waters with releasing this and the hush figure, so hopefully they stay cloth from now on
The COAT swap was really something I wanted to see that others just failed to deliver. I contemplated getting a toybiz gambit for the coat, but I’m a use the Mezco Jim Gordon Coat. Also it’s a COAT lol, not a jacket. The difference between a coat and jacket is the length. That Cyclops figure has a jacket and Gambit has a coat.
I got mine last week and have not been able to put him down. For those that say the jacket is too big - this figure is meant to be posed dynamically, so the jacket needs a little room to allow for that. As much as I think the jacket fits as it should, I’m keeping mine off for the moment. He looks so much sleeker when posed without it. Great review!
Kurt with Spidey that Mafex Spidey articulation would be incredible. but then we'd need Colossus (since we already have Wolverine) to fill out the X-booze drinking club.

My 4 favorite xmen are probably In order: nightcrawler, colossus, beast, wolverine (im actually a bigger fan of the claremont years) so those would be my top picks for mafex figures. But if they keep with 90s characters I wouldn’t mind a jubilee, that way i could get her with a soft goods jacket and some good effects blasts
This is definitely the best Gambit figure! The Mezco Gambit is a terrible Gambit figure, and that's a hill I'm willing to die on. It's a nice figure in a vacuum, but mobility and articulation are such a vital part of Gambit's character that the lack of torso articulation on the Mezco Gambit singlehandedly ruins that figure.

That shot of Gambit on the Sentinel is great! I also never really thought about what material Gambit's coat was made of--I can understand the assumption it would be leather, but I agree I think a softer material is more likely (ala David Tennant's Doctor's coat).
As a collector of the good old days marvel legends (not the ones from today, marvel legends today is garbage) and a collector of mafex I can say that mafex reminds me most of the old marvel legends, which is a good thing. Those figures back in the day hold up to today, a decade later and they are still amazing figures. Aside from qc issues back in the day, mafex is top of the line. They have everything a collector could want.

This figure is great! Comic MAFEX stuff is so good that it's making me consider downsizing my MCU imports to have more space. But yeah, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Cable are some of my most wanted characters, cause Elf, Logan and Colossus are my fave X trio. Also, I'd go crazy if they make a classic 90's or mid 90's Deadpool... just something that's more universal.
The armor color is what purple is really supposed to be. If you put a prismacolor marker purple and a pink. You would see the difference in what we are taught purple is and what actual purple is. Pink is not that deep a color. Even hot pink isn’t. Yeah I know this review is 2 years old. I just got into a mafex figures after having a bad experience with a Spider-Man figure from them but I tried a nightwing and now I’m hooked. I hope they reissue the reissue of this figure. I loved the introduction of Gambit.

Unbiasly, I think this might be the best figure Mafex has ever made. You weren't kidding with talkin' about how much fun you're gonna have with the Sentinel. That's one badass picture man.
And let’s not shoot our selves in the foot, mafex needs to make EVERY marvel figure! :D I could only imagine how amazing a mafex beast, cable, winter soldier or blade could be.
A proper nightcrawler with 3 heads for each main era. A Dave Cockrum, Alan Davis, and a modern one. Liked Mayshelfs modern ML Nightcrawler head- but wanted the shadowy classic one too. Also more of an indigo dark navy for the skin. A key issue with the legends one is he stands too upright without the foot/toe articulation. He could really use drop down hips like beast got. My second pick would be Morph. But that would be an issue. I think there’s some rights issues with him. Surprised there hasn’t been army builders with the team blue and yellow uniform where you could just pop heads onto them. Would be awesome.
For anyone that might not be a fan of the cloth trench coat (but why would you), I'm wondering if you can take Gambit's arms out and switch 'em with the Hush parts to have a plastic coat. And that one having the belt gives it a different style. But yeah, if those arms are compatible, I think it'd be a pretty damn cool alternate look.
And now the wait begins for the Ben Reilly figure lol. I'll still have to customize it to give it the comic-accurate paintjob under 90s Bagley (black base with blue highlights, both away from and on the logo). I tried it on my Marvel Legends Ben Reilly, and it looks SO MUCH BETTER. As for Gambit, I'm so tempted to buy this lmao

I owned this figure since last week but came here to hear your opinion. Definitely the best Mafex X-men figure. I really wish for Mafex Rogue or Storm.
My favorite too/most anticipated too. There’s a specific comic panel where Gambit is outside without his jacket smoking and talking to professor x. Look it up….the hair is pretty similar too. It’s the Andy Kubert era (post Jim Lee). Glad they got the Auburn/slight burgundy hair right. My only tiny complaint was the jacket not being slightly olive green-but that’s a personal choice. It varied often between khaki or olive- but never dark brown, same with the hair- a lot of the time it was the same color of brown used on Wolverines brown suit- definitely a reddish brown. Only other slight complaint is the effects not being very translucent. Curious how the Mezco ones look with the figure- though pretty sure they won’t attach. Prefer the look of those and how they pop. Love that sentinel photo. That’s my plan too 😎.

@Steve Vento when he stands it looks like it doesn’t move but In some of the action shots it looks like it’s flush on the knee. I guess it just depends on who’s drawing him i guess
I prefer the Mezco Gambit but yea the Mafex one is hot. One gripe. The eyes. No black cornea with puplis being pink / purple. Not a huge fan of the jacket either but I think any fan of Gambit wouldn't be mad with getting this fig imo.

I think IF MAFEX did a Rogue figure, it would probably be more similar to their upcoming Jean figure, both in style/look and accessories, which I’m personally not feeling. But IDK, we’ll see. Good call on the Nightcrawler though!

A Mafex Nightcrawler using their comicbook Spider-Man body would be ideal. The sculpt and articulation would be perfect for the character.

Mafex is the best action figure line out there making the best comic book figures and giving marvel & dc figures that can go together perfectly.

My ONLY gripe with the figure is the knee pads. Wish they had a soft hinge or something so they don’t stick out when his knees bend.

I think IF MAFEX did a Rogue figure, it would probably be more similar to their upcoming Jean figure, both in style/look and accessories, which I’m personally not feeling. But IDK, we’ll see. Good call on the Nightcrawler though!
