- A rare, alternate take of the Irish folk song, "As I Roved Out ," sung by the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. From a stereo version of the album, "The Boys Won't Leave the Girls Alone," which included different takes of four songs that were not included on most versions of the album.

I've been listening to this particular song over and over again the last few days. I love the rhythm, it's amazing.
Thanks so much for posting this super number!! The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem were with very best and are sorely missed! Sr. Veronica

Yes It is clear that the ways of the Lord are unknown
"The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Maken at Home" had a similar track, a great rousing version sung by just one Clancy Brother. Or Tommy Makem. Got it from my college bookstore about 1974 and have never even seen it _mentioned_ anywhere else.
One of their best - a sad tale - gives me goosebumps
Really good version. Thank you for posting it on RUclips.
Love it! Cheers for sharing boy!
Had this album and wore it out. Love to hear these songs again. The album hasn't been made availabe on MP3 yet. Thanks!
Thanks rmm413e. I enjoyed this. You say an 'alternate take' but I'm not so sure. This is an upbeat version on what I regard as the original... and this is the best version I can find. The original of course was sung by Tommy's mother, Sara.
One of the saddest songs I've ever heard.
I think Tommy Makem's mother -Sara- may have recorded this .
Awesome! Can anyone please post the lyrics of this version?
Ruining her life, and her age only 16 come Sunday!
Hempenasphalt its such a cheery sounding song but with some pretty bad lyrics
