Harris is a highly educated, intelligent, experienced well connected and empathetic human being, who worked very hard in the hope that people would understand that she would work for them and do her best to make their lives better. Trump voters said no to this, and now every single one of them and all of us will face the very unpleasant consequences for at least the next four years. 😂😂😂
Harris was a garbage candidate who ran a garbage campaign at the back end of her own party’s garbage presidency. Democrats need to look in the mirror and realise how badly they managed their campaign. Trump at least sounds like a leader, he projects confidence. Harris looked like a fish out of water, she was never convincing that she could handle the job. Most of her campaign was just “vote for me because I’m not Trump!” There was no substance and no clear plan. They failed and Trump capitalised. But it’s much easier to blame the voters than to admit the Democrats did a shit job of campaigning.

Yeah, they’ll raise their prices once tariffs hit - even though the products they are selling are pre-tariff inventory, they’ll use the excuse of needing the extra money so they can buy the taxed inventory. Gas stations play the same game. The price of oil goes up, the price of gas in their tanks already goes up bc they gotta pay higher price to refill the tanks. But when the cost of oil drops, gas stations will hold their high prices until their next delivery. I fully expect companies to take advantage of consumer confusion, and raise prices in anticipation of tariffs!
Remember, there were mass amounts of people who googled "Can I change my vote" mere hours after the election. Instant regret, and more regrets to come.
Karma has only begun. The next factory floor announcement: "We couldn't pre-buy enough materials. Because of the tariffs, we will need to lay off 15% of the Team to keep the factory open."
It sure as shit does!!! What always gets me is they can never tell me WHAT President Biden did, policy wise, that CAUSED the inflation. Never. "How do I change my vote" being the #2 question asked by Americans on Google the day after the election makes Trump's "victory" look like another fluke.
Ahhh ignorance is bliss...until it's not. They have no one to blame but themselves because they took a con man at his word instead of researching & educating themselves they voted against their own best interests and this is why said con man loves the poorly educated. Ignorance is not an excuse.
From what Im personaly encountering is that those who knew how tariffs worked, didnt know that a no vote is mathmaticaly a vote 4 Rs. They thought from all the publicity that Harris got it was in the bag 4 her. Not enough is talked about the low voter turnout. That is always a Republican win.
This is why Socrates hated democracy: ignorant voters not understanding what their vote means. Americans should need to be licensed to vote. You need a license to drive a car. You need a license to be a lawyer. You need a license to be a doctor. You even need a license to get married. We need to have a license to vote.
I don't necessarily disagree, but you're going to run into issues with making sure that requiring a license to vote doesn't disenfranchise historically disenfranchised populations, like voter ID is said to do (edited for spelling)
What you say makes sense. That's the good news. The bad news is, of course, that simply making sense isn't enough. I should think I'd only be comfortable with a mandatory voting clearance if I knew that, somehow or other, 75 per cent of my fellow citizens scored - consistently - among the top ten on the SATs. No less. Unrealistic, you say? Stranger propositions have come to pass - like, say, establishing republics in a world where common sense used to say that a king derived his right to rule from God, and most definitely not from his - _ughh_ - subjects. 🤔
Did Burke say that before Santayana? It's usually ascribed to the latter. I had thought that Burke actually said something about planning the future by the past - but I can't recall whether he was for it or against it. 🤔 🤨

Maybe it would’ve been prudent for these companies to inform their employees of the consequences of voting for Trump on their bonuses prior to the election. Then maybe they wouldn’t be in this situation.
Thwy did that in the UK at the time of Brexit, the then CEO of JLR sent emails saying that if they didn't vote remain they would have lost their jobs. They did NOT listen!🫨
I don't like the rhetoric of telling people if they're dumb they shouldn't vote...but yeah it is sad that a large number of people aren't aware of actual impacts of policy that their candidate wants to implement.
It's factual & truthful though. If you do not know about the issues, then what are you voting for them ? Because your family have always been republicans and you just want to uphold that legacy ⁉️ To fulfill your ego ⁉️ Why when you do not know about the issues, why would you vote ⁉️ That makes absolutely no sense at all.
@@JanelleChristmas-w6u I'm not disagreeing with you on your points. I know some older people who do think that way in my own family. I don't have anything to do with them anymore...but it really doesn't sit right with me to openly call people dumb and tell them not to vote. Because sneering down at people from a high horse and telling them how to live their lives certainly never comes across as regressive, oppressive or stuck up. That kind of rhetoric, and that general attitude, is what I see as part of the problem the democratic party had with their messaging and outreach this cycle.

Exactly what I’ve been saying! We shouldn’t just encourage everyone exercise their right to vote. We should stress that with that right comes the responsibility to be informed.
This was great timing for the vast majority of companies to throw away the hard earned efforts of workers in the 11th hour. Just wait til the layoffs happen in the midst of 40% cost increases in the next year. You’re gonna be crying over the benefits that got scraped away…
The manufacturing company simply increases the price of the finished goods. The company is buying before the tariffs are in place, and will charge post tariff prices later. The company is just screwing their employees. Lol
The reason we have the electoral college is the founders did not believe the general population should be granted unfettered responsibilities for electing the highest office. They were right in theory, but the solution leaves much to be desired
How long does that take? And is it even an option? Using domestic workers will absolutely cost more. Building new facilities will definitely cost more. And if they don’t? You seem to be ignoring quite a bit.
Do you really believe that they are stockpiling? This is just a cash grab from workers and they will pay the tariff and pass it on to the customers. Maybe a week's supply will be bought but warehousing raw materials likely costs more than the tariff.
Problem is even with tariffs it's probably still cheaper to import foreign made components than to make them in the states just due to differences in wages.
I don't feel that ignorance is the problem. Many people are not interested in the political topics and do not care to learn about them. The problem is they are being lied to and they believe these lies. If Donald Trump told me that the sky was blue, I would question my reality.
Exercising the right to vote uninformed is like exercising the right to travel uninformed: you're extremely likely to end up getting hit by something you never expected, be it the effects of tariffs or a Ford F-150 driving at 60 mph.
2:07 So, are the owners of this factory who are using their workers’ bonuses to stockpile materials and components at current prices going to SELL the completed goods to consumers at the current, lower prices after the tariffs are instituted, or are they going to raise prices concurrent with the amount of the tariffs, screwing the workers out of their bonuses while adding to the company’s profits? I’m betting it’s the latter.
If they're business savvy then no - because one would still want customers to buy their products. The company will just never give Christmas bonuses again and use that to cover the customers future Tarrif costs instead.

Oh ... but the WERE informed. We all told them. Explained to them in multiple ways. We presented them with facts. They don't have any excuses at this point.
It will be interesting to see how many businesses actually go out of business because of the tariffs. There's a small manufacturer of gun silencers here in my hometown that just made a huge investment in a new building and expansion of their equipment to manufacture their products. The problem being that all the disposal equipment and even the raw material is imported. Can anyone guess who these gun people voted for ? It sure wasn't a black woman.
For clothing manufacturers, the tariffs will probably be beneficial, as they currently have a hard time competing against companies like SHEIN and Temu. It’s the blanket tariffs on all imported goods that’s a problem. Expecting trump to deal with anything in a nuanced way is a fool’s errand, particularly since he seems to have a fundamental misunderstanding about tariffs himself.
I saw an interview election day, they asked a guy who voted for trump why. His answer was simply, “trump said he was going to stop taxes on overtime. More money in my pocket…” good luck buddy.
Wait til he finds out that Trump is going to stop overtime pay to meet that promise. No time and a half for you. Just the same hours at straight pay and straight taxes. So funny that they did not look at the fine print. They will still pay taxes but on one third less money for those hours.
I mean, yeah, there won't be any taxes on overtime, because... they're going to eliminate overtime pay! So I suppose he was right about that one... sorta....
They have no clue that Trump has no intention of doing those things. Remember the "infrastructure plan" and the "better and cheaper health care plan" that was always two weeks away?
I mean, trump’s plan is to redefine overtime as more than x hours per MONTH, not day or week, so you can work 12 hours one day and get sent home early later in the week, and you’ll see no overtime pay. Or take a sick day that month, and that won’t count towards your hours worked for overtime calculation. Also, trump’s tax plan increases taxes for the poor and middle class, and lowers them for upper income households, so yeah, enjoy getting paid less, losing that overtime bump, and the cost of everything going up 25%.
I bet that company will increase their prices using the excuse that the prices on their imported goods went up when, in fact, they used the Christmas bonus money to stockpile hedging their bet. God bless yhe stockholders, for they will anointed with big returns soon.

Yeah the only problem with this is that so will I.
@@RandyPeterson17unfortunately we all will 😢
Harris was a garbage candidate who ran a garbage campaign at the back end of her own party’s garbage presidency.

Another fun fact is that those companies will raise the prices of their products to maximize profits !

Maybe automatic voter registration for citizens and mandatory voting? There are democratic countries who do these things.

“Dumbfounded” was indeed the key word in that part of The Keystone State. Plenty of coal available for Xmas there, though.
Lol
They FA now they will FO 🤷🏽♂️
The reason we have the electoral college is the founders did not believe the general population should be granted unfettered responsibilities for electing the highest office. They were right in theory, but the solution leaves much to be desired
And while their stock piling, the company can’t invest domestically to perhaps make the foreign sourced goods within the USA. So nothing will change.
How long does that take? And is it even an option? Using domestic workers will absolutely cost more. Building new facilities will definitely cost more.
And if they don’t? You seem to be ignoring quite a bit.
@ agreed there are so many unknowns/unforeseen consequences , I did say can’t not can.
Do you really believe that they are stockpiling? This is just a cash grab from workers and they will pay the tariff and pass it on to the customers. Maybe a week's supply will be bought but warehousing raw materials likely costs more than the tariff.
@ fair point, I guess you’re never going to know until you see it piled up in a stock room🤷
Whatchu talkin' bout Willis? Didn't Mexico pay for that brand new wall we got? 🤔🤔

Guess the moron didn’t realize Trump also wants to get rid of overtime too
I mean, trump’s plan is to redefine overtime as more than x hours per MONTH, not day or week, so you can work 12 hours one day and get sent home early later in the week, and you’ll see no overtime pay.
