Thanks for sharing this good drill. Also thanks for showing the struggle & keeping it real for us non-professional shooters.

This is great for people getting into more advanced pistol shooting to see the runs where you miss a couple of them. In a world full of tacticool bros who only post the crazy splits with no misses its great to see a real life set of runs.

Can you/we see everything all at once? Like not focusing on any one plate individually but noticing the dot land on each plate?

What holster is Myles running with the Glock / SRO combination?

      Looks like a Safariland

@gbos that is a Safariland 6390 level 1 holster with the QLS fork system.

Every transition drill is always a vision drill. But , when shooting a plate sequence with a single shot at a close range like this , the drills value is primarily as a recoil drill. You transition the gun in recoil , the dot settles in a flash sight picture on the plate and you immediately transition as the gun lifts. This informs how fast you can run the drill with a particular pistol and ammo combination. So even tho you are moving your vision focus along the plates , single shot drills teach you more about transition speed on the bounce than double shot drills can on paper. As the range increases, other components become critical like building a more focused sight confirmation and trigger prep at long distances. The 10 yard 6 plate rack should only be 10-15 % slower than your clean 7 yard Bill Drill as they are both dependent on understanding your dot’s timing as it returns to zero .

There’s a big difference between competition shooting and stopping a threat. Extremely rarely does someone actually have time to put sites on target in a real life scenario when your adrenaline kicks in (particularly in CQB)

I would disagree with the wording used. Sights have to be aligned on target or you won't hit the target. The difference is in conscience and unconscience awareness of the sights and training so the default position of the sights is as good as possible unconsciously in the heat of the moment.

While competition shooting is not equivalent to a real fire fight it is excellent training if you are aware of the differences.
The more you practice, the less conscious effort you have to put into making those movements. It all will transfer, granted you're going to perform at a lower level due to stress levels.
I always assume that my worst day at the range practicing will be what my performance would be in a defensive situation.

Competition shooting is one of the best possible ways to train to index the sights on target while focusing on the target while having to think about many things at once

Also, it's not the fastest shot that wins, but the fastest effective hits...

That is entirely false. Boomer lore. Even with adrenaline people use their sites especially when using a red dot.
