What a goal by the King! He was in his mid 30s by then but still produced the magic. To beat probably the best goalie in Europe at the time like that wow!
Some matches in the first half of the season were recorded for broadcast in other countries, during the dispute that affected coverage in the UK. The Liverpool games recorded were, as far as I know, West Ham, Everton, Man Utd and Arsenal (all away).
I posted a comment about this on the Manchester United League Cup video on this explaining that the programme in question was the international version of The Big Match
In all the Merseyside derby games I've watched on here, thats got to be the most oppo fans in the home end. Not saying 'ever', just what I've seen. Such a shame it's not like that anymore.
The Liverpool end is all scallies . What a support we had pre Hillsborough. We still have good fans but half the crowd seem like wools and tourists the last 20years
Presumably you mean Kenny's goal, as McMahon's stike to beat Southall at his near post from that far out was also impressive. Kenny's goal is unlike any other I can think of. Who would think to shoot from there with the outside of the right foot? Genuis.
Those really were the days my friend..... I was in the paddock near the park end. Couldn’t see the king Kennys first goal but remember going mental. It rained all day and my Liverpool, sun hat turned pink on the way up Carisbroke Rd after the game heading to The Mons. Happy days though,, loads of reds in the Gladwys St ....get in there red men.
I managed to get two tickets for this game on the Street end and before kick-off, my dad said, 'now remember, we're in the Everton end, so don't be jumping up and down if we (Liverpool) score'. Then Kenny puts one in the top corner in the first minute and I couldn't help myself. Suddenly it became apparent that there were hundreds of Liverpool fans jumping up and down with me. So much for segregation - didn't need it.
One of the 87-88 games was one of the first I ever watched on TV, and the commentators were talking about the "Liverpool-Everton derby match", and I said "what? are there three teams playing: Liverpool, Everton and Derby?"
I was there that day. I went with a workmate it was the first time I went with him to a game. After being 3-0 down at half time I never went with the bleeding jinx again.
Would be interested to know where these highlights are from as there was no British TV coverage of football I believe during the early part of the 85/86 season.

Proper footballers proper football. No social media. The good old days.
lazylad 90 when football wasn’t a business
@@johnriley5268 I'm as rose-tinted as the next for 'the good old days', but it was always a business.
Why are you on here and using it then Einstein?

Dalglish is a class act as a player, manager, and as a man. Best Scottish player ever.
Love how bright the kits and the pitch looked in this game.

Still the best Everton side of all time come on Everton 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
I was at this game as a 5 year old on my dads shoulders in the gwladys street end! FB & JB forever x
I was there my first ever Darby game and one al never forget one of my best days on Merseyside ynwa lv from Sunderland
Wow. Just wow. To beat Southall from there takes something special. Everything about that strike was exquisite.

@@DaveWallerLFC Indeed I do mate. There are some things about Kenny that just make me nod my head and acknowledge he is a class act.
@@DaveWallerLFC ..Kenny was masterful. On par with the likes of Cruyff , Best, etc.
Excellent team with many great players and the real King: Kenny Dalglish! YNWA

These days are well gone so sad
Nice 1 dave , this is my favourite Derby followed by a very close second Anfield 87 - 88 Derby .

The king scores and the Gwladys St explodes...priceless...back in the day when woodison nevermind the city was ours.
I was there that day. I went with a workmate it was the first time I went with him to a game. After being 3-0 down at half time I never went with the bleeding jinx again.
The 15yr old me was there with my dad, uncles and cousins. Only derby I went to.
I vividly remember a banner that read “Jan Molby is a big fat slob”
Thousands of Liverpool fans in the Everton end ?
That was normal then. Thousands of reds in the Gladys St and thousands of blues in the Kop.
@@DaveWallerLFC Was there ever a history of that in Manchester Dave? Or any other big city?
No idea about other cities. I guess it must have been normal before formal segregation came in in the 70s?
Lot of Liverpool fans in Everton end ?
That used to happen at every derby match back then. Used to get loads of Evertonians in the Kop as well.
bobstermaher watch the other game from this season when Lineker scores at the kop. Loads of Evertonians
It was a regular thing back then.
Everton used to occupy a large part of the main stand corner of the Kop .
Paul langton i am a big liverpool fan the greatest club i supporting the history players managers the greatest stadium anfield on the best paul
"25 seconds gone, and Liverpool have taken the lead from Kenny Dagleish."
Whaaaaat?
Interesting spelling of Dalglish from someone who criticises other people's spelling and grammar.

they always seemed to beat each other away
0:18 1-0 Liverpool. 1:19 2-0 Liverpool. 3:39 3-0 Liverpool. 5:28 3-1 Everton. 8:11 3-2 Everton.
Mixed terraces, that can't have happened too many times
That defence is worse than what it is now, Utft..
Absolute comedy gold defending by both sides.
Attendance: 51,509.
Yes ! I was there.
dalglish peaked at the first minute..
The red gwladys street the citys all ours

@@willleon9165 never in the middle though...
Everton had the k.o. and their third touch was to pick it out of their own net. Y.N.W.A..
Goal hanger Lineker’s goal was well offside
To be in the ole park end..kenny should of had a hatrick..
Oh oh ohh kenny kenny we walk a million miles for one of your goals oh kenny.. Dalglish or Daglish Pleass
Evertons defense was awful.
Never liked that Everton shirt much better when they went back to plain blue
Weird to see Phil Neal in a Crown Paints jersey!!
Why weird? Crown Paints were sponsors for 4 years before this, during which time Neal played almost every game.
Probably meant the Adidas shirt.
Is that anfield. 😂
This is 1986 not 85....
It's from the start of 1985/86 season. Definitely 1985.
