The game's graphics remind me of Dolphin Blue. That shoot 'em up also utilised 3D graphics for backgrounds and large enemies, plus 2D sprites for characters, anime style.
I have this game stuck on my unreliable PS3 (revived from a Yellow Light of Death, but shuts itself off when it gets too hot). My 360 is still going strong though, so I might have to look at getting it there sometime! Great game none the less!
[ it is a federal crime that it isint on steam ] I have to agree my good sir . A part of me wish some of those big time game streamers got to that O~O . Stile kudos for giving my favorite contra game a well deserved shout out . have a good one .
@@MegaDriveProfile Sure man, and you can have your opinion. For what the game is, it is a great title. You simpletons saw contra and thought 2d shooter. I saw this game and instantly thought robotron 2084 and Smash tv, my favorite arcade games.
@@13Gangland I don't think its the worst thing ever mind you, certainly not, its just that it didn't quite click. Like Neo Contra is the same type of game but better imo. I heard they recently updated Rouge Corps with some improvements and I'd be willing to revisit to see what changed. Nakazato's name was stamped onto this by Konami but I can tell he wasn't too involved (he directed some of the best games in the series). Either that or he lost touch but I digress. I respect your opinion and I didn't laugh at your comment btw, I just thought you were being sarcastic for a second.
@@MegaDriveProfile I have played all the Contras, I owned all of them at some point except for the ps1 titles because those are complete worthless, not even worthy of being in a Contra collection. I will admit right now I am terrible at all of them except the first one, I was able to beat that one. It still does not make me stop from playing them. I still am extremely fascinated with the franchise as a whole. It is one of my favorite series of all time. When Rouge Corps was announced, I was ready to get into it, and when I saw the gameplay, it was a major disappointment. Not because the game looks awful (it does, but the updates that have since come out make it a bit mor feasible on the Switch), but the gameplay was off for some reason, it looked clunky. Well, it tried to put me off, and the reviewers like Mike Matie or RGT 85 didn't help in the slightest. Everyone was saying it was complete garbage. Needless to say, I didn't count on there reviews, I went and purchased the game day one. Something about it was really calling my attention, but couldn't say for sure. I guess it was the old school arcade gamer in me that wanted to give it a shoot, despite the heavy criticism, horrible graphics, and ridiculously laughable marketing and trailers. What I found was an excellent shooter, with super tight controls and an insane amount of weapons to try. I have yet to see other player's playthroughs using the same weapons twice. I have yet to know exactly how many guns you can actually create. The game is on a whole different ballgame than Neo Contra. I have easily put over 60 hours in, replaying missions to get the S ranks. There is an upgrade system through surgery, it makes you much more versatile in your speed, health dashing, decreased cooldown on the guns, bombs, ect. So much was put in this game, and it is still being updated, despite the people have shunned it and no one is playing online. A real shame to know that a game that is a Diablo+Smash Tv+ all the difficulty of Contra is going to waste over not putting enough time to actually learn the game. It isn't so much so my opinion I care about. It's the fact that good games get overlooked by the mainstream for not being the same thing as everything else. If you ever heard or played God hand (ps2 game, highly recommended), it's the same thing that is happening here.We have TOO many Contra clones out now, another 2d Contra shooter would of been just another 2d shooter in a day were it is becoming saturated. This game is something of it's own beast.
@@13Gangland I played God Hand, it was amazing! I can see the point you are trying to make and certainly I understand it. Like I said I'd be willing to the revisit game - its just the impression that I got first hand wasn't anything more than decent. But hey, you might be right.
I really wish Konami would release this on Steam or at least the Nintendo eShop.
Tell me about it!
@Frank J.J. Style Really?!
Best game in the franchise
This game is so badass. Thanks for reminding me it exists! I need to go back and play it again.
Just got it free on xbox gold, cool game thanks for the review
This game still looks fantastic, I love the look it has. Great video!
Thanks BP!
Nice review! I've wanted to play this game ever since it came out. Guess I have get a 360 just for this haha!
They are pretty cheap these days and it doesn't seem like its going anywhere anytime soon! thanks for watching
great timing, i just bought this game on PSN for £2
Yeah, after seeing how awful the new Contra game is I'm definitely going to go back and play this one; looks frickin' dope!
Nice recap my dude! :D
I did the same. Been playing on ps3. Would like to play with someone

The only bad thing I remember from this game was the godawful voice acting, everything else was spot on.
yeah the voice acting is not good at all lol
After beating *Contra: Shattered Soldier* on its hardest setting, I finally got my hands on this.
*This game is definitely* (NOT)
*a "piece of cake".*

Yea it puzzles me why this isn't on steam and switch.
I wanted to like this a lot but the standard walking speed is a bit unbearable - if I could run by default this'd be amazing!
I can play with someone on ps3 version. Let me know
Same
I have it for ps3. I feel like replaying it now...
Hope this game have PS4 port
Kenji Yamamoto? The Super Metroid guy or the plagiarist?
I guess its neither, just another dude with the same name
Rouge Corps is one of the best games of 2019, I don't know what disappointment you are talking about.
😂
