Adam, the inner workings of the small rail car, was a speeder. used by maintenance of way railroad people! thank you for these tours! stay safe on your travels!
Adam, on the way to funeral memorial, (in our Truck and camper,) in Illinois last summer, we took some back roads from Colorado and visited small old towns, all was well until we got into Illinois, we were stopped and detained for over and hour and a half by a Rookie cop that was just totally convinced we were Bonnie& Clyde and had come to Sell Cannabis in Illinois. Our camper was searched, our DL were run, etc until he was satisfied. He even made my husband go in our camper before him, because he thought we might slam the door on him and drive off! He actually said this! It was a horrible experience. Hope you don't ever have to go through that! Thank you for your videos! Love them very much! Thanks for going to these old small towns that may just dry up and blow away in the next 20 years! Love ya,Amy
Whatever you decide to do, please play it safe and seek lodging, at least for the worst of the storm. Wish I could travel with you through some of these towns. I love seeing the architecture of the old buildings. Safe travels.
Some little old lady looked out her window and called it in..."There's a strange bearded man holding up a phone and talking to himself on the street, Mayor! Do something!" And sure enough, you were promptly investigated. LOL! Love that Small Town American goodness.
Hi Adam. I'm from Little Rock. I have been watching your videos for over a year now and I have enjoyed them. Thank you for passing through our great state. I believe most visitors to our state is surprised by some of the neat attractions that Arkansas has to offer. My late father and his family grew up in Brinkley. I still have cousins there. You came pretty close (near the old yellow gas station) to where my uncle use to live. Lately there has been a mild effort to kick start that town but sadly it is like several small towns in the delta, they are drying up. I appreciate what you do whenever you travel "the roads less traveled", it gives those towns a voice. Keep up the good work.
That little machine at 4:42 is what's known as a "Speeder," it's used as an inspection car for railroads and can be used to transport workers to locations on the rail line that need repair.
Very cool to see you were in Brinkley AK. My boyfriend's family is from there and his uncle still has his law firm there. Sharp and Sharp attorney at law on Main Street. His grandfather is actually in a picture in the train museum. Check it out if you go back it's pretty cool. Thanks Adam for checking out Brinkley. I fell in love when I went there from all the stories my boyfriend's mother told me.
gotta love those old towns................. so sad too see them all run down now. All that history and generations of families that once lived in them. The forgotten few left now in many cases. Stay safe Adam.
Adam...I've lived in AR almost my entire life and am learning something new everyday watching your vlogs. Thanks for that!! Keep up the great work...always entertaining AND educational. Awesome.
I love old towns! Petersburg Virginia has a lot of old buildings that were painted on the sides of them . Some have cotton and peanuts painted on the side of them. Civil war movies were filmed there. The train station was where a lot of soldiers left to go to war.
That made me LOL,,,I thought you were just messing around. Don't feel bad, recently I heard the old 80's song " Automatic " I always thought it was a guy singing, but NO,It was the Pointer Sisters.
That big victorian house you rode by was beautiful,I always have had a fascination with those kinds of homes,it reminds me of gone with the wind :-) I wish i could find it on google maps, would love to check out it's history about it,have a great night adam and safe travels to you
All those little towns mostly empty. I love the old buildings it does take you back to a different era. Thanks Adam got my WOO FIX for the day! Stay safe with the storm coming!!! We live in Escondido, Ca just had a storm drop 3.5 inches of rain!!!!😀
Good morning Adam, epic intro! seems like a nice relaxing town depsite fear of tornados. love how the train passes through. Please stay safe with these coming storms. have a great day my friend.
giggle... I was thinking of posting that. But then I knew someone even more of a music geek than me already beat me to it. And I kinda think I really don't need to call the Woo on an off the cuff slip of the lip. just sayin
Large Marge sounds like a train rolling down the tracks when I listen through ear buds. I love traveling back roads like these on my motorcycle. So much more to see when you slow down and soak it all in.
I've lived in North west Arkansas for 40 years and have never been to north east arkansas!! Our neck of the wood is very mountainous . .I didn't realize the landscape was so different east.,....enjoying learning new things about my home state...stay safe out there during the storms...we have a storm cellar ( or more commonly known as a "fraidy hole ") ...safe travels
Love your channel ! If you had a map with pins in it, for everyplace you've been, you couldn't see the map. What a wonderful way to live your life. Thank you for sharing.
Is Adam heading towards MEMPHIS? I live in Memphis! (I know, I know, I'm not bragging. I'm just stating a fact. Memphis is unsafe for resident and tourist alike. In fact, Memphis is something of a death magnet. Elvis died here. MLK died here. A few years ago, even some ocean creature swam up the Mississippi River, beached itself in Memphis then died! Memphis is not a safe place!)
Wow a pure oil gas station! I used to work at the Dawes Arboretum in Newark, Ohio and it was started by Beman Dawes, the creator of Pure Oil Company. Fun fact!
Growing up in St. Louis Missouri I forget that people from other states don't have tornado warnings and the sirens like we do here it's just the complete norm. They're everywhere.
Hope you and Large Marge stay safe from the storms and come out on the other side of the storms safe and sound and able to continue the adventures :) Love seeing where your travels take you next :)
If you get the chance, head to Booneville Ark. There's an old Tuberculosis Sanitorioum there. It's a beautiful and very large building, I've been there over 20 times doing Paranormal Investigations. You should definitely check the old place out since you love architecture of the old days.
I remember when my dad bought his first video camera. He had to rest it on his shoulder and attach it to a VCR that was strapped in a case on the other shoulder. Technology has changed....thank goodness.
The big wrench in the caboose was used by the brakeman to change the air hoses between cars when they would break in the middle of nowhere. funny part is they still make the wrench and air hoses still break..
There is something sad about the state of these small towns . . . empty, desolate, disrepair . . . a reflection of our country I guess . . . but (for me) it's too bad that we can't go back about 70 years and have both . . . small town and big city America again. Just sayin' . . .
My small town has a Main St. very similar to the streets shown in this vlog. However, the powers that be decided to spend a TON of money and rejuvenate it. So now we have a day spa and a micro-brewery bar, among other things. Ugh! Oh well. It's progress. Better than a bunch of dilapidated buildings.
It really surprised me how abandoned this towns are........as not american see how these places sometimes we have in our minds when we think of USA so desolated really made me sad..... I guess technology brings lots of good benefits but I wish I could have lived in places like those about 60 years ago :(
Please be careful with the storm coming ----enjoyed the vlog Adam---thank you for taking us places we would never see otherwise.... (yes, RIP Bill Paxton--a true loss to the entertainment world ) see you tomorrow ...Deanna
I tried a bag of those peas and was so grossed out by them I had to brush my teeth to get the taste out. 😱 Plz be careful with these storms. I was just outside making sure everything in our yard is anchored down or put away in the basement. The weather alerts have already been posted here. Safe Travels Adam.
Adam i think that those cans are what is called a"pea scale". they are used to measure the weight of the crops grown by the local farmers. they would take their crops to town and sell them to the local markets . the cans where a know weight so they could tell how much the stuff weighed
man it's sooo crazy seeing someone like you come through my state and places I've partied at and hung out at. And you are right... The best stuff is on the back roads lol.
Saying a prayer for your safety today! If you see bad weather coming, it is better to stay in one place and get ready to hit the deck if a tornado comes your way! But I hope this doesn't happen!
Hey Adam! Think about getting a weather alert for yourself. It can help you with a local weather forcast, but it can also wake you up if there is dangerous weather in the area in which you are traveling. Great for safety!
the thing we did was twirl around while Born to be Wild was playing. the last one standing won. did you land on your knees on a cement floor. I was 14 at the time. I'm 63 now. this song has withstood the test of time. years later I found it enjoyable to embarrass my kids with by singing it while driving down the street as loud as possible.
Wow, I've been away a while.. you have a new van, where'd the small silver one go? Looking a little greyer there too my friend. That's not a bad thing, me too. Not watched ADTW vids for a over a year... "I know, what can I say.. I'm a slacker, and yes, my dad was probably a slacker too" but I'm back, enjoying the vicarious goodness..!
Hey Adam, if you go to Memphis I recommend going up north to Atoka, TN and checking out the caboose in the park there. And just north of Atoka is Covington, which has a park with a Fighter jet in it.
Be careful Adam as this storm system pushes through, we are over in northwest Tennessee and looks like it be a busy night. If you have the time check out Jackson and Humboldt, TN. Lots of neat things to do there.
Jose De La Rosa In Idaho , there is a little town of just 165 people called Hollister where they don't make surfboards but the cows sure make a lot of shit .
If you're heading east there are a lot of cool small towns and cities in Virginia. Here are a few suggestions: Roanoke (you could see a giant star on top of a mountain and a zoo), Rocky Mount, Vinton, Chase City, and a plenty more! Adam, Your singing is getting better, not much , but better.
Adam, the inner workings of the small rail car, was a speeder. used by maintenance of way railroad people! thank you for these tours! stay safe on your travels!
Love the small towns of middle America. They are all unique in their own special way.......👍. Thanks for bringing them to us, Adam.
Adam, on the way to funeral memorial, (in our Truck and camper,) in Illinois last summer, we took some back roads from Colorado and visited small old towns, all was well until we got into Illinois, we were stopped and detained for over and hour and a half by a Rookie cop that was just totally convinced we were Bonnie& Clyde and had come to Sell Cannabis in Illinois. that most likely exactly how it went down
Waiting for the day you are chased down the street by a little old woman smacking you with her handbag. :-)
I guess he was just lucky that Adam West wasn't the mayor.

I love the videos that start out on the road, and show the road through Large Marge windshield. Its like being there ,almost.
gotta love those old towns................. so sad too see them all run down now. All that history and generations of families that once lived in them. The forgotten few left now in many cases. Stay safe Adam.

Great times Adam. Thanks for showing us Small Town America
I love old towns! Petersburg Virginia has a lot of old buildings that were painted on the sides of them . Some have cotton and peanuts painted on the side of them. Civil war movies were filmed there. The train station was where a lot of soldiers left to go to war.
All my life I thought Bad to the Bone was sung by the incorrect artist . My life just won't be the same
adamthewoo So many feels.
adamthewoo Every time I hear Born to be Wild I think of the old episode of Married with Children.
Yeah, that's an easy mistake... I mistook Cheap Trick for the Beatles this morning. smh...
That made me LOL,,,I thought you were just messing around. Don't feel bad, recently I heard the old 80's song " Automatic " I always thought it was a guy singing, but NO,It was the Pointer Sisters.
adamthewoo wait.... George Thorogood didn't sing Bad to the Bone?
Nicely done sir. Thanx for what you are doing. You're giving my family ideas on where to visit! Keep up the great work! Comment......... OVER!
That big victorian house you rode by was beautiful,I always have had a fascination with those kinds of homes,it reminds me of gone with the wind :-) I wish i could find it on google maps, would love to check out it's history about it,have a great night adam and safe travels to you

"Born to Be Wild" was written by Mars Bonfire
dang my mind is now blown, I stand corrected
I never could stand George Thorogood. Love Steppenwolf, though. Adam was probably thinking of Bad To The Bone. Ugh.
Always wondered what memories these buildings have and what they have seen over time .
I really enjoyed the show If These Walls Could Talk. Wish it was still on.
Thank You for filming Small Town USA :)
This has been one of my favourite episodes! Small towns and BILL PAXTON!
"Eastbound & down, loaded up and truckin...". That's the song in my when when I see you driving.
The huge wrench is to replace an air hose on a train. This was fairly common I believe and every train has one.
Large Marge sounds like a train rolling down the tracks when I listen through ear buds. I love traveling back roads like these on my motorcycle. So much more to see when you slow down and soak it all in.
Love seeing these old towns. Wish today's vlog was longer, but still loved every second of it
I love all of the old backroads stuff rings back memories of towns around my hometown
I've lived in North west Arkansas for 40 years and have never been to north east arkansas!! Hope you and Large Marge stay safe from the storms and come out on the other side of the storms safe and sound and able to continue the adventures :) Love seeing where your travels take you next :)
Come stay with us the Woo! We are in Jonesboro. Nice parking for the Majestic.
Byung7 well it's smart I guess.. I could be a serial killer..
You can always park in those self serve car washes for Hail protection if you see a big crazy storm cell approaching.
If you get the chance, head to Booneville Ark. There's an old Tuberculosis Sanitorioum there. It's a beautiful and very large building, I've been there over 20 times doing Paranormal Investigations. You should definitely check the old place out since you love architecture of the old days.
sheri hillian wow
Love spending Sunday afternoons with The Woo!
I remember when my dad bought his first video camera. He had to rest it on his shoulder and attach it to a VCR that was strapped in a case on the other shoulder. Technology has changed....thank goodness.

A lot of the smaller towns died after the interstates were built. The interstates pass them by.
First the interstates. Then Walmart. Now those people have to drive 30 miles just to buy a gallon of milk or a pair of socks.

Those carts remind me of the go-carts people make for riding abandoned rails. That would be a cool AtW experience!
So glad I got to spend my birthday morning watching TDW!!
I was born in Mountain Home, Arkansas. It is in the north central part of the state, I would love to see you go there! 👍🏼
You're right Adam it's a big old multi wrench for maintenance on the train cars and the tin cans hanging look like a makeshift wind chime
I tried a bag of those peas and was so grossed out by them I had to brush my teeth to get the taste out. 😱 Plz be careful with these storms. I was just outside making sure everything in our yard is anchored down or put away in the basement. The weather alerts have already been posted here. Safe Travels Adam.

man it's sooo crazy seeing someone like you come through my state and places I've partied at and hung out at. And you are right... The best stuff is on the back roads lol.
Looks like highway 70 between Little Rock AR and Memphis and little towns in between. Thanks for video rural America seems to suffer a lot. God bless
We love taking the back roads instead of the interstates whenever we aren't in a big hurry. We have seen some interesting places doing that.
Saying a prayer for your safety today! If you see bad weather coming, it is better to stay in one place and get ready to hit the deck if a tornado comes your way! But I hope this doesn't happen!
Small town America is like no places on earth. Love your videos.
My Grandma lives over in that area. Walnut Ridge/Jonesboro area. It's interesting seeing those roads through the internet lol
Stay safe from the storms and those small towns!
Born to be wild
Adam, Please be careful !Love those side roads and towns .
Hey Adam! Think about getting a weather alert for yourself. It can help you with a local weather forcast, but it can also wake you up if there is dangerous weather in the area in which you are traveling. Great for safety!

stay safe Adam...I'm in Henderson Ky. The weather forecast is predicting bad bad storms all around.
Be careful Adam as this storm system pushes through, we are over in northwest Tennessee and looks like it be a busy night. If you have the time check out Jackson and Humboldt, TN. Lots of neat things to do there.
If you're going to be in the Northeast area for any time, there's an abandoned cemetery called Burrow Cemetery you should check out.
Have a great week Adam! Thank you

Happy Tuesday my fellow Woovian's! 👍🏼👍🏼 Watching during 1st Break and already Liked 👍🏼👍🏼

Jose De La Rosa In Idaho , there is a little town of just 165 people called Hollister where they don't make surfboards but the cows sure make a lot of shit .
Thx Adam. 🙋💕
If you're heading east there are a lot of cool small towns and cities in Virginia. Here are a few suggestions: Roanoke (you could see a giant star on top of a mountain and a zoo), Rocky Mount, Vinton, Chase City, and a plenty more!

Cool video, I love small towns, stay safe :)
I don't know how you do the blog everyday ,What a great job you do.
Awesome Vlog! I like the old town in this Vlog and I like the facts too.
So funny. You switched so fast to the moving train just like a dog does when it sees a squirrel.
