Whisperlodge Spa is dedicated to ASMR and offer services such as “whispers on demand” to relax the body and mind.
ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. It indicates the pleasurable sensation that’s triggered by visual, auditory, or tactile stimuli.
“I really wanted to make this work because I had ASMR and I always had it throughout my life. It’s something that I still do now, I watch videos every night to help me fall asleep,” explained ASMR specialist and Whisperlodge co-creator Melinda Lauw. “And I always wondered why there wasn’t a physical place where I could to experience this.”
Lauw co-created Whisperlodge with her partner Andrew Hoepfner. They have operated in New York City and San Francisco for two years. The spa has sessions for individuals are well as couples, which normally last for 45 minutes and start at $100.
“I think if you look at ASMR online, the most common trigger is whispering cause that’s what all the RUclips videos provide. And it real life, I would say the most common trigger is hair brushing” said Lauw. “For me, ASMR is about language, cause when I had it as a kid, but I was never really able to express myself. And it was only when the internet created a name for it that I was able to talk to my friends about it, share about it, and also just like research the community and what people are doing.”

the first time I experienced ASMR was in grade school when each student had a lice check. I wasn't sure if this was an annual thing or if it was because a student had lice. There were only 2 or 3 chairs available so waiting in line created this like tension or anticipation, and then getting in the chair I remember being slightly nervous. They used 2 sticks to examine our scalps, and it was the most tinlgy, relaxing sensation I've ever experienced. She was so gently, and slowly parted my hair back and forth.

Asmr is like a drug the more you feel the Euphoric sensation the more you want it as it slowly decreases its effect

It’s worth it to me because when your home listening too it it’s much different than experiencing it
I wonder if you can choose to have more whispers and less touching and noise making with objects or if there is only one thing on the menu.
I love the concept of having a physical place you can go to to experience asmr in the real world but $100 is a bit much.

She was "kinda" massaging her in the video, like her head and ears. And have you ever been to a asmr spa, it could be much better or worse than the video shows it to be. 100 dollars could be a suitable price for it, normally we just listen some videos but at the spa you get to be the one, who the asmr is meant for.

For me it is good price. Why? For my curency, one visit in madame Tussaud's museum in london cost about 1560czk. And it was horible expirience. Totaly not worth it. So if i eill ever be in new york, i will definetly visit whisperlodge
