Yes-treatment for anxiety-I can see my daughter using even the memory/visualization of such an experience as a centering/calming technique instead of meds or suffering... ❤️
I am a psychotherapist in Austin, Texas. I'm trained in neurobiology and the treatment of trauma, and hypnotherapy as well. Ever since I found ASMR, I have been using it in sessions with patients who experience anxiety, worry, attachment disorders, even depression. The reason ASMR is so enticing and is catching on the way it is, is that people don't just need intellectual clinical treatment, or even just emotionally supportive talk therapy. They need personal care and touch as well. They need intimacy and eye contact. They need counseling and psychotherapy infused with true unconditional friendship and love. I hope all of you who want to incorporate ASMR into your reiki, massage, or other healing modalities will go for it! I think incorporating the spiritual, the psychological, the emotional, the mental, and the physical aspects is the only way to really heal completely. LOVE YOU GUYS!! Paige
I actually watch asmr videos specifically to help with my chronic pain- especially if I’m trying not to take my fentanyl- I can go several hours extra between doses of my painkillers by watching asmr videos- it works for my sleep issues, and pain (I think it can also be good for anxiety although I find distraction and funny videos better for that myself.)

I have had a Reiki treatment done by a Shaman and let me tell you I was skeptical at first as to whether I would feel anything. It was amazing, and my mind was blown. She placed her hands on my head and the base of my skull and this heat and tingling rushed through me. Down my arms, legs, and spine. It was amazing.

Wow Emma I don't live far from London myself, in Surrey, so I am very interested in this. I enjoy facials when I visit a spa - they take away so much tension - and to have tingles as well would be simply heavenly. Thank you so much for making this, and the growing awareness of ASMR, all possible.
It's nice to see an asmr person getting an asmr session on them so they know what to do for their video/experience what they do to other people. I would love to be where she is right now.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but dont try botox. I suffer(ed) from migraines aswell for a long time, and ussualy 2-3 times a week, and each one lasting 1 and sometimes 2 days. I tried eating different things, taken prescribed medication, doing less things to prevent myself from getting stressed, and nothing worked. So I stopped seeing my doctor and went back to my 'old way of living' Now, it just stopped for no apparant reason. I didnt change my diet or lifestyle in the slightest bit. My dad had migraines and this thing happened to him aswell. I now occasionaly have a migraine attack(around once every two months). You are free to try whatever you want as I know how horrible it can be, but my advice is to try and find proper painkillers(Ibuprofen always helps me, but only takes away the sickness, not so much the headache) and wait it out, but again, you are free to do whatever you want.
If you're okay with drugs, I found a drug that's my miracle. It's called imitrex/sumatriptan and my migraine and all symptoms with it disappears almost immediately. It's wonderful since I get sound sensitive and asmr makes them worse then.
Amandine Caulier I got my rook pierced three years ago and my migraines have improved significantly. I still get the aura/vision loss for a little bit but I never get anywhere near as much pain after. Worth a shout :)
Unfortunately I get the collation of all of my parents' migraine symptoms I get the vision impairment and muscular weakness/tiredness from my dad And the unbearable headache and "gloved" sensation in my hands from my mum

Very interesting. The frisson factor is very high for me here, just like when I was little and even a visit to the dentist often provoked the sensation (until the drilling started!). I think it must have some kind of powerful psychological element generating the physiological "purr" where circumstances put you in the "power" of someone who is paying you 100% attention while doing something essentially soothing or therapeutic to you. It creates an unusual mind-state, but one where you are, in fact, also very vulnerable. This (and this is total speculation based solely on my own experience of the sensation) possibly leads to a limited, precautionary peptide trigger which causes the pleasant shivers as your nervous system switches gear just in case of pain while in this exposed, subdued condition. It's a subtle precursor to a fight or flight response. [edit: FYI, the polypeptide in question could well be prodynorphin which is a building block of endorphins. It is extremely active in humans - we have multiple copies of the gene sequence needed for its production, which is one of the very few things, it has very recently been discovered, that distinguishes us from other primates genetically - and influences, among other things, perception, fundamental emotional bonding and pain anticipation/experience. If true, this really is frontier stuff.] So, the more effective the verisimilitude - or, far better, given an authentic situation - the more likely and the more pronounced the response. This might explain why only a fairly small proportion of the multiplying ASMRtists (like, for absolute certain, WhispersRed!) are far more effective than others who spend just as much time and effort and imaginative resources constructing approximations of 'real' encounters such as the one in this video. They recreate the socio-psychological transaction more realistically than others and activate the desired physiological response with a simulation. Well, we cry in the theatre because we are awesome at suspending our disbelief so this would seem to be perfectly reasonable conjecture. But, in the end, who really knows? One of the only studies that's recently attempted to investigate this phenomenon of which I'm aware was done by the psychology department of the university where I have worked for the past 8 years - and the authors couldn't really find any definitive answers beyond speculation in spite of the substantial quantity of data gathered. Your guess, it would appear, is still as good as anyone else's (even mine!) which is quite exciting in itself. ASMR is not only very nice, but fascinating too!

I suffer of migraines since I am a kid. I really need this!!
Please don't take this the wrong way, but dont try botox. I suffer(ed) from migraines aswell for a long time, and ussualy 2-3 times a week, and each one lasting 1 and sometimes 2 days. I tried eating different things, taken prescribed medication, doing less things to prevent myself from getting stressed, and nothing worked. So I stopped seeing my doctor and went back to my 'old way of living' Now, it just stopped for no apparant reason. I didnt change my diet or lifestyle in the slightest bit. My dad had migraines and this thing happened to him aswell. I now occasionaly have a migraine attack(around once every two months). You are free to try whatever you want as I know how horrible it can be, but my advice is to try and find proper painkillers(Ibuprofen always helps me, but only takes away the sickness, not so much the headache) and wait it out, but again, you are free to do whatever you want.
If you're okay with drugs, I found a drug that's my miracle. It's called imitrex/sumatriptan and my migraine and all symptoms with it disappears almost immediately. It's wonderful since I get sound sensitive and asmr makes them worse then.
Amandine Caulier I got my rook pierced three years ago and my migraines have improved significantly. I still get the aura/vision loss for a little bit but I never get anywhere near as much pain after. Worth a shout :)

I get the vision impairment and muscular weakness/tiredness from my dad
And the unbearable headache and "gloved" sensation in my hands from my mum

Very interesting. The frisson factor is very high for me here, just like when I was little and even a visit to the dentist often provoked the sensation (until the drilling started!). I think it must have some kind of powerful psychological element generating the physiological "purr" where circumstances put you in the "power" of someone who is paying you 100% attention while doing something essentially soothing or therapeutic to you. It creates an unusual mind-state, but one where you are, in fact, also very vulnerable.
This (and this is total speculation based solely on my own experience of the sensation) possibly leads to a limited, precautionary peptide trigger which causes the pleasant shivers as your nervous system switches gear just in case of pain while in this exposed, subdued condition. It's a subtle precursor to a fight or flight response. [edit: FYI, the polypeptide in question could well be prodynorphin which is a building block of endorphins. It is extremely active in humans - we have multiple copies of the gene sequence needed for its production, which is one of the very few things, it has very recently been discovered, that distinguishes us from other primates genetically - and influences, among other things, perception, fundamental emotional bonding and pain anticipation/experience. If true, this really is frontier stuff.]
So, the more effective the verisimilitude - or, far better, given an authentic situation - the more likely and the more pronounced the response. This might explain why only a fairly small proportion of the multiplying ASMRtists (like, for absolute certain, WhispersRed!) are far more effective than others who spend just as much time and effort and imaginative resources constructing approximations of 'real' encounters such as the one in this video. They recreate the socio-psychological transaction more realistically than others and activate the desired physiological response with a simulation. Well, we cry in the theatre because we are awesome at suspending our disbelief so this would seem to be perfectly reasonable conjecture. But, in the end, who really knows?
One of the only studies that's recently attempted to investigate this phenomenon of which I'm aware was done by the psychology department of the university where I have worked for the past 8 years - and the authors couldn't really find any definitive answers beyond speculation in spite of the substantial quantity of data gathered. Your guess, it would appear, is still as good as anyone else's (even mine!) which is quite exciting in itself.
