  • The new Iconic Replicas Southern California Rapid Transit District later Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority coach #TMC 1234 RTS 06 in the "Metro Local" Orange scheme.
I wish to thank Jeff Silver for his working with me to transform photos I had taken of the bus into the finished product that is on the market and available from his www.awesomediecast.com and other places. Grab yours today as it will be a sell out and these buses always have a high value on the aftermarket.
A little history of the bus that was built at Roswell New Mexico in 1992 by the Transportation manufacturing Corporation model T80206 ordered by SCRTD as Methanol fuel part of the 1200-1502 coach fleet delivered in the two-Stripe paint scheme with blue Methanol decals added at delivery. In 1993 the SCRTD became LACMTA and the bus would be part of the troubled "Fuel of the Month Club" program where with the damaging properties of the Methanol fuel system it would change to Ethanol that itself was found to be even more highly corrosive.
The Methanol bus fleet would see prolonged periods of storage where at some points only 1/3 of the buses were actively on the road in service. Thankfully the decision came through to re-power them to Diesel fuel and by 1998 this coach was back on the road servicing passengers with the Detroit Diesel 6V92TA upgraded to become highly reliable coaches in the fleet.
Upon conversion the coach would operate in the Yellowjacket paint scheme with tinted windows gradually changed to clear.
In 2004 the LACMTA re-branded its service paint schemes and 1234 became one of the first to wear the Local Orange paint scheme. The bus would serve the system until June 2009 when it was withdrawn from service and sold at auction.
The model itself pays tribute to many interesting things with details based upon my photos. These include the correct California E-Plate, 33 VENICE headsign/sidesign and rear route #Division, 6 logo on the side showing its last assignment as well as Westside Central Sector marking WSC-10 on the windshield as by this time 6 was considered a satellite to Division 10 itself, photo correct advertisements, and many more right down to the specific spotting of the CA 37363 decals on each side.
If you love the TMC RTS and you were a fan of them then or now this is the model for you.
Special thanks to Jeff Silver of Iconic Replicas for making it all happen,
and thanks as always to Scott Page for use of his "Fuel of the Month Club" slogan.

This is based on a real life bus I photographed in these colors in 2006-2008 and the paint scheme and details were designed by me for Iconic Replicas and its an actual model for sale now and is a true joy to see it come out so well in the finished product.
