Here in the uk, we had no death row, just a condemned cell which had a wardrobe in it, behind the wardrobe was the scaffold in an adjoining cell, there was never a long walk, jus about 10 paces to the trapdoor, it was a very hurried affair to avoid stress to the prisoners, it was all over in roughly 20 seconds from the hangman entering the cell to the prisoner being dead
"The Trial of Ruth Ellis" in the Ladykiller series is a much better portrayal of Ellis and the whole Judicial Hanging process and incarceration in the Condemned Cell prior to it, and the film Yield to the Night starring Diana Dors is a harrowing depiction of someone in prison awaiting to be topped. The former is on RUclips but you'll have to go and find the latter one yourselves.
Mixed feelings here, I like the portrayal and the one actress monologue medium. For the purist, it is spoilt by the death row imagery and the complete whitewash over the hanging process. Pierrepont never met Ruth Ellis the day before....I would suggest that line be removed rather than suggest artistic license. One things for sure.... Desmond did have a lot to answer for....
Death Row? Not in the UK. The cells are totally different. Holloway Prison did not have cells like that. They are classed as a condemned prisoner. I think they made this for the US.
Norman Seagull not the accent in the video lol. I think Ruth’s is a bit put on but if you RUclips ruth Ellis speaking there is a video of what she sounds like x
Not Irish as in the video. Could be said to be a refined southern English with more eastern Southern English influence which could include good quality Welsh educated. The refined Welsh can not be distinguished by myself as it is very similar to good quality refined English. But needs to be said as she was born in Wales and lived there prior to moving during the war to London. Cound almost be said to sound some what like Princess Diana.
ONE OF HER LOVERS CALLED I THINK DESMOND.A RAT TO GIVE HER THAT GUN.BLAKELY PONSED OF RUTH,TOOK HER MONEY,CHEATED ON HER,ALWAYS COMING BACK TO FURTHER CON HER,THEN DITCH HER AGAIN.SHE LOVED HIM,HE BROKE HER FRAGILE HEART.DES,SHUDDA SWUNG.
There is plenty of garbage available on YT, but one of the worst types is a programme that shows a woman about to have her spine severed and leave the earth she once knew in complete uncertain darkness, actually smiling through the bars of her death cell. In addition to this, Holloway, like all UK prisons didn't have bars on their cells, we had enclosed doors with peepholes inserted. What cheap shite this is.
It should of been shown her falling through the trap door like was should in the hanging scene of " In Cold Blood " ; a movie w/ Robert Blake , and 4get the other character who was also hanged . It is often seen females hanged in barefeet , and believe U / Me Ruth probably had something 4those with ft. Fetishes.
The way convicts were hanged in GB was not like the way it’s portrayed here. This is Hollywood style.

Pierrepoint record 7.5 seconds
Totally unrealistic interpretation of the execution process in 1950's Britain.
Complete and utter horse shite compared to the real thing

The noose is wrong.
catherine with your blonde hair you remind me some fit girl i used to know
the depiction of the execution was completely wrong, and bore no accuracy as to how executions were carried out in the UK during the 1950s and 60s
Me think's this is a fanciful load of "Bovine Scatology"

@@nicolerussell5455 WOW I didn't know there was such a thing, how can I find it
Don't no if any of this is fact based?
Don’t be silly and drop the vocal fry in the recreation of the character.
Hey is it a movie or real?
How she get a gun in the first place
Watch the film and you'll find out.
She got the gun from Desmond, her friend and lover

Dreadful production! So far removed from the facts!
Totally inaccurate ending scenes.

Unconvincing portrayal , couldn't watch it beyond 10 minutes , too self conscious and over played .
Dont like this version nor the actress switching off
What a hideous portrayal of Ruth and of the story in general.. truly awful.
What a total guff production
