You guys have such a unique sound... I can tell it's The Dandy Warhols, and to be honest, maybe it's because I'm not that much into music, but so far I've never found a band like yours. I can't describe it properly, but certain sounds are just... your personal seal. The cool thing is, I can listen to your whole discography without skipping a song. It has been such a long time (at least 5 years) since I listened to any music, and now I'm coming back just to you for the moment. Your legacy will live on and age like a fine wine over time. BTW Courtney, if you read this, do you know your birthtime? Knowing the city would be cool too. Keep it up!
I've been aware of the Dandy Warhols since their debut in early '90's, but was too busy listening to grunge, specifically Alice in Chains, trying on depression & embracing my Gen X slackerness, to give this band a deeper look. Over the yrs, they remained a staple of college & independent radio, in addition to Courtney Taylor-Taylor rivaling Evan Dando (The Lemonheads), as the hottest singer in alternative rock in the '90's. Imagine my surprise & pleasure to discover that they later worked together on some stuff. Those two were actually hotter than the Eddie Vedder/Chris Cornell duo-haha! On a more serious note, I only knew about two songs from the band & both were from early albums: ",Boys Better" & "Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth". Then, in 2018, I left my hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida & settled in Portland, Oregon. I was intrigued when I saw ads on RUclips for "Dig", as I'm a huge fan of music documentaries, always looking for titles I haven't seen. Upon watching "Dig", I plunged into the Dandies pool, so to speak. What a fantastically talented band, every single recording is just great. I find someone new all the time. Honestly, none of their songs sound alike, yet, you can identify a unique tone, or sound on consistent basis. I fell in love with this band & cannot imagine why I never took any time until just recently, to discover the versatile, creative, fun, melodic music they, themself called " music for the smart kids", indeed. Thank you. Dandy Warhols, for such a diverse & varied catalog of music that I personally enjoy on a daily basis, what a treasure trove I discovered in this band, Mwah XOXO
