Maria Callas never lost her singling voice. She just lacked her confidence to sing in public. I wish some sessions of her Master Class had sparked her passion for singing opera and got her to return to the stage as a diva. She did not have to die as a recluse.
How I wish Norina could be sung by some bigger voices (and better singers). She has a bright and exuberant character that can totally afford a big and characteristic voice singing all those coloratura. People today seem to treat her like some second-rate comic role like Papagena and find boring voices to sing her...that is NOT FAIR!!!!!

Totally! Among all the operas she sang, my favorite is Barbiere. Callas shines like a flower freshly watered on the sun.
