"Social" media, the irony of it. Because it seems as a society we're now more disconnected and lonelier than ever.
The more I stopped using the other social media apps the more I ended on youtube🤣
me rn
lol me too
Literally me
The worst effect social media has is a massively reduced attention span.
Take note next time you’re at a social gathering.
There will be a point where everyone pulls out their phone to scroll.
I’ve seen this happen for years, since I have only ever been a youtube guy.
I don’t see any value in social media…
The whole family unit is ruined as well. People aren't bothered to connect anymore.
Social media was made to make communications easier but it made it hard for people to communicate 😅
I'm definitely getting sick of Facebook & RUclips algorithms deciding what I should view/ watch.
Th biggest concern is that most of us don't think about how to take advantage of social media. Scrolling is a behavior happens when people don't have a specific goal of searching on internet. I have a goal of looking up on internet about social media, that's why i'm learning from this video. But most people are on the contrary, and that's why they gain less from internet
I've never tried BeReal but I like the idea of non-public/more intimate social media. Instagram etc can feel like a performance these days instead of just a way to connect with people.
Great video man. You keep getting better at this! 🙌🏼
I remember when Facebook had the “poke” option
Great video, I'm excited to see what changes the Apple Vision Pro will bring!
I like how social media got here and great video man :]
Great video! This is going to age really well! Apple Vision Pro and Soar AI coming out the same year is not a coincidence
good analysis 👍
So social media before MySpace was GeoCities and Tripod where you could host your own static web pages and have a circle of similar stuff, and then there is still IRC. But general social media? It peaked for me with Twitter in 2011 after the big quake in Japan, no other media could connect people all over the country and share information that fast. It was really great, but since then it just became more pushy about what twitter wanted me to see and not what I wanted to see. Same with Facebook, at some point I stopped checking it and never returned, same with Instagram, I wanted to see the photos from my friends but at some point it was more recommendations than content I wanted to see. So right now I am only on Mastodon on a local server which feels very much like the IRC chatrooms I am still on with the same people from almost 30 years ago ... Full circle? Oh and the AI (or LLM actually) stuff, I leave that to my kids. Perhaps in future they will have brain implants and just stare into the air while flipping through TikTocks :D (oh and happy new year)
Happy new year 🎊
Actually, they are my home when I went for work for a year. They are really I got nothing. I’ve been on the platform I live with. I live with my life. I’m social and Maria my childhood home.
Why don’t you mention the fediverse?
That’s something that for sure is gonna change social media.
I feel like the apple vision pro will be the fourth wave of social media :]
w video
I hope it becomes more creative and expressive instead of influencers mindlessly doing and sharing the same things over & over again.
And more acceptance of individuality and authenticity.
Underrated video 😢
Familiarity breeds contempt. Too much AI will make it lose its value. I'm already starting to get exhausted with Gen AI content and in fact choosing to use social media less because of it. I can totally see most people in fact disassociate with SM apps and smartphone in general. The recent popularity of 90's and early 00's aesthetic points to just that. More and more people in my circle are dropping it cold turkey. 🤷♂️
wow you and I read the same articles
I grew up with RUclips, so I haven't gotten so into the Instagram, Snapchat etc stuff. I am also not into short-form videos, like shorts and what TikTok gives. I think that can be because I have grown up with longer videos. But I hate that everyone is quitting RUclips. Yeah, I get the reasons, but it is still sad to see that the first-ever RUclipsr you started watching needs to leave RUclips. (He still makes videos, but only for Paterion members. It is a Swedish RUclipsr so no English-speaking people are gonna be interested, just want to say that before someone asks.)
Because of this, I don't have so much phone-time only like 2 hours max. But if you ask my computer time, that's 10 hours or even more when I am not at school. (On holidays and weekends of course. Can maybe happen when I am sick too, don't want to spread my sickness to other people but am still fine watching RUclips alone.)
Snapchat is my favorite and threads app is nice app and TikToks
I think all this ai created stuff is gonna make it more cluttered
bro forgot Friendster
Babies are born everyday, social media is mot going anywhere
It's getting boring to me 🚮
Tik tok is the worst needs to be banned
We had it banned the first in India.
No it doesn't. Alternatives to it need to be more enticing. I don't even use it that much, personally. I have interesting things to do offline.
@@lowwastehighmelaninI'm genuinely curious what you mean by this -- how would TikTok having more addictive competitors solve the attention span shortening that it's (probably) caused?
Nothing needs to be banned. That’s a truly dangerous way of thinking. But I agree it’s a stupid asf app.
Instagram reels and RUclips shorts is the same thing, literally reposted tiktoks
I think you're delusional if you think AR/VR is going to take over. Ordinary people don't like it.
Better question is: what happened to your face?
Nice accent for an asian
Wtf?
@@nothumanlol they probably meant it as a compliment
Awful
