I’m really surprised by the location of the specialty dining options on the Sphere class ships. I have no desire to pay extra to dine by the buffet with people wandering in and out. My most recent experiences with the Crown Grill however, have been kind of mediocre. Thanks for the review - nicely done.
It's funny, I'm only a little surprised by the location because I can absolutely see that they would want to get some use out of that space during off hours. But it's not on the same level as Sabatini's or Crown Grill, so charging the same is disingenuous. Thanks for watching and commenting!
We dinned in Rudi's Sel de Mer, and a Crab Shack which was in a similar location, a somewhat secluded part of the buffet seating - neither had an issue of other diners strolling by at will - the area was cordoned off, to prevent that lookie-lou through traffic from happening. - did they not do that with this venue. It certainly does not have the ambiance, decor, and exclusivity that a stand-alone Specialty dining restaurant like a Crown Grill or a Sabatini's has, but then, this is meant to be a "family" experience and is not a lot different from what we have seen when traveling in Italy, where large simply set tables of family are eating. They seem to care more about the company they are with not the surroundings and exclusivity. We dinned at the Crown Grill, there definitely was not as much meat on offer and I found the quality only just so-so, on our visit. The decor was definitely more upscale. Based on all the beef offered, and the fact there was a bottle of wine on the table, the price seemed quite reasonable.
Your review is exactly what I would say. When I saw the menu and location, I said no thanks. Just meat? Fortunately they are moving the restaurant to a different location but they may need to adjust the menu.
