Had this as a kid and loved, even when it got down to the bones and everything was lost on it. Great review.
The nice thing about this vehicle is, even if you lose most of the parts, you still have a pretty solid vehicle.
I just ordered one up today and will take the place of the Persuader on my desk. The A.I.F.V will go head on with the Dreadnoks loaded up on the Thunder Machine. Love this version of the Sarge!

This and the Tomahawk were my favorite GI Joe vehicles I had as a kid.

This is one of my favorite GI Joe vehicles. Very cool.
I like the idea that SGT. Slaughter has a Hasbro G.I. Joe figure and a Mattel WWE figure.
Another great vehicle from 88 that I didn't have. I didn't know it also carried figures in the back.
I also prefer the style of V1&2 of Sgt Slaughter.
Great ending!!!! I know you're not a wrestling fan, but checkout the Sarge in his bootcamp match against The Iron Sheik. Yes, its called the bootcamp match. Haha. Also, The Sarge became a bad guy and was an Iraqi sympathizer during The Gulf War.
I vaguely remember Sgt. Slaughter being a bad guy. Maybe someone told me about it back then, because I wouldn't have seen it on TV. The juxtaposition between G.I. Joe Sgt. Slaughter and wrestling Sgt. Slaughter would have been jarring and off-putting to me.
HoodedCobraCommander788 I can understand if you're not a wrestling fan. I can't stand wrestling today. But seeing The Sarge as a wrestler and on GI Joe, I thought it was neat.
I never knew Repeater was a vehicle.. hahaha but yeah for me 88 was one of the best years of Gi Joe and this is one great vehicle...I want a couple..1 to customize. I never had this as a kid but can see a ton of play value with this...as always great review 👍

definitely did the Sarge justice! I forgot the Triple T wasn't identical to original mail away Sarge. I loved the Warthog when in came out. Great Slaughterizing! I think he needs another guest appearance. Awesome!

great review as always! I got this one, I it's true one of the pegs broke. I had to tape it & inside those rear seats I usually used them to store the crew's weapons. bought it for the Sgt.Slaughter cause I couldn't get the original mail in version cause they ran out of him. I have the G.I Joe Defiant Launch Complex & the lever that rises the shuttle into launch position that broke, so I had to do it manually. I also have the 1st Joe Amphibious Personnel carrier found it in a collector's store.
This is a pretty cool vehicle. I never had it when I was a kid, but I recently got one.I also like the repaint/re-deco "Rhino" (black) version Hasbro did later on. When G.I. Joe the movie premiered on tv, Sgt. Slaughter hosted each day for the whole week. I used to think that he really wasn't in good physical shape and that they him a favor with his cartoon version. LOL
The real Sgt. Slaugher is, you might say, less toned than the figure. They were rather generous in the sculpting. But if they ever make an action figure for me, I wand them to do the exact same thing.
I remember that . I think it was on the USA cartoon Express. For five days. I actually had recorded the episode that Cobra commander faced the spores and the next/last episode. Yes real sgt slaughter was shown after commercial breaks

Strangely there was a US Military Vehicle called the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt 2 which was usually named the Warthog however that vehicle was an aircraft. I guess Hasbro could not use that for Sgt. Slaughter since he was in the Army and it was necessary for him to be in more of a land based vehicle. Although they could have used the Warthog plane model and make a vehicle of it in toy form for G.I. Joe.

Very creative review. As a kid, I had an unofficial assault course playset that would have been perfect for Sgt Slaughter, but I was never able to get the figure.
Interesting. Do you know who made the assault course? I would be interested in seeing it, and maybe picking up one.
Yes, it was made by a company called Casdon and advertised with Action Force figures in the photos, even though it wasn't connected to Hasbro or Palitoy. If you Google 'Casdon military assault course' you should be able to find images of it. The only part I still have is the cardboard base.

What a great review! The only version of Sgt. Slaughter I had was the mail away one, but this one is good. I didn't like it at first glance. I agree with you that v.3 could use more paint detail. His hat should be painted tan or brown as it appears to be a hard hat. The vehicle is boss. p.s. I'm not worried, I don't have a wife for Sarge to mac on.

Hail Hooded Cobra Commander 788!! The onky that I wanted to Slaughterize are the YELLOW missiles!!! Mold them in an off-white color would be better than banana yellow! The only "good" thing about those YELLOW missiles is that at least Cobra can see that they're not going to survive that encounter!! Funny you forgot to mention that YELLOW color. I mean you did mention Airtight's YELLOW hazmat suit as well as Clean Sweep's. Where you really intimidated by Sgt. Slaughter presence. [Slaughterize it!!!] I mean, yea it wad meant to be not mentioning the YELLOW missiles... it wasn't in the script... what was I thinking... Can I go home now? [Clearing throat sound] Keep up the GREAT work you do for this channel!!!!

Always wanted that vehicle. I prefer the version 2 Sgt. Slaughter because he looked more military. P.s. He did make a brief appearance in issue #53 which was his last appearance in the comic. Great Review!!!!!
I have the impression Larry Hama didn't like the character. Either that, or there was something about the license that limited his use in the comics.

Great review, definitely a favorite vehicle of mine because of its realistic look. I was the same, it comfortably held as many figure as I could cram in there at the time. In the Marines, the reg for troops in the back of a 7-ton truck was 18 max. So if anybody asked how many were on board, the vehicle commander always said 17. If you had 15 up there and you came across 8 Marines walking down the road you pick them up. How many are there now? 17. Always.
This was a good vehicle and this Version of the Sarge was my favorite. This and the Marauder Equalizer (I think it's the name) tank are my faves.

another great video. i had the second version. it pairs well with the other amphib vehicles. too bad cobra didnt have the same quality of troop carriers, they needed them more.
That's true. In the comic book, Cobra used cargo helicopters. They were pretty cool, but we didn't get toys.

I have the 2002 Night Rhino which is a black and gray repaint of this vehicle. Its very nice.
idk it kinda does look like a brown undershirt, it has a collar and isn't designed like how the neck line was with the previous sgt.slaughter showing that same body part.
My 2 favorite G.I. JOE vehicles I had as a kid were the Warthog and the Tomahawk, both troop carriers. Did COBRA ever have a troop carrier? I can't think of any. I wish the H.I.S.S. was slightly bigger to carry COBRA troops it would be more suited to that than a main battle tank.

I just put mine up on eBay. Complete in box and nothing opened or put together. It was hard to get rid of but I need the space. Super cool item!
I wasn't into the wrestling at the time either. I just knew the names, as they were popular and in the mainstream at the time.
I had this vehicle but i sold it. HUGE mistake on my part. I do have the black version of it with the box and figure. I think Leatherneck is the driver
maybe they should have made a version 4 of Sarge with a leather jacket.
So ironic to learn of this obscure connection between Sgt Slaughter and Tunnel Rat. Not only is one of them among my least favorite Joes and the other is my favorite Joe, but one of them is probably the biggest Joe on the team and the other is one of the very smallest. With that in mind, no wonder they didn't want to use the same torso for these two guys.
Tunnel Rat’s diminutive size isn’t really reflected in the figure construction. I guess limitations in the production process but it did allow easy part swaps for mock ups like box art reference! Now I want to make up a lazy custom with Sarge extremities on a T-Rat torso!
I really like this vehicle. However I don't think the missiles belong on it. They just don't work with the concept of the amphibious landing vehicle. I just pulled them off as a kid. However, those missiles would have been great on a small vehicle, or toad weapon system like the original laser and missile weapon.
Slaughter does look good. However the ammo belt fit the theme. The neck should have been painted the same green as the belt, and maybe a little color on that knife. Also the hat should have been brown.
I wonder if Hama wasn’t as interested in Slaughter as the cartoon makers or if their were some kind of licensing issue with marvel and the sarge separate the cartoon and toy

I never really cared for the Sarge... I did watch wrestling. I could never separate the two characters and the real life Sarge had nothing on the Joe Sarge. Made it seem like a farce, and caused a problem for me.
