    Great - thanks for sharing. Some very useful tips on there about cutting out the shapes - much appreciated. Interesting seeing the different paint thicknesses.

    Great video guys. I'm getting back into RC and airbrushing after about 30 years. Working on a Bittydesign Vision for a Kyosho Inferno MP10e and also have an SCT shell to paint up. Going with a Neon Genesis Evangelion theme for both.
    One comment: "Opaque" means no light goes through it. Raw fluorescents that aren't backed yet are "translucent" or "semi-transparent."

    Nice video did you have to add any adhesive to the paint so It can stick to the lexan body or any reducer because it was too thick

    So Createx works on Lexan? Does Wicked Colours work as well then?

      Sorry, haven't tried Wicked Colours.

    • @DevonRegan
      @DevonRegan 4 месяца назад

      Yes it does! Createx advice is that you mix in 10% of gloss 4050. I do this lots and it comes out great. You do need to reduce 10-20% with 4011

    Beautiful work man. Really awesome to see someone so invested in a skill. 🎉 What is a good paint for airbrush on polycarb bodies?

    • @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
      @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne  Год назад +1

      Thank you for watching! We like to use Vallejo Premium acrylic paint for polycarbonate bodies.

      @Hearns Hobbies Thank you so much for the recommendation. And this can go directly onto the poly no primer needed?

    • @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
      @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne  Год назад

      Yes, no primer required. Depending on the size of your airbrush nozzle, some thinning and flow improver can be helpful.

    I’m totally confused. I keep hearing that the body comes in a protective wrap i’ve never seen a video where somebody has said removed a protective wrap!! so when you first get the body in your washing it with dish soap do you leave the wrap on or off? And what’s the purpose of painting the car if you have a protective wrap on the outside the paint won’t get on the Lexan correct?? Please help me understand this

    • @DonaldYearwoodPhotography
      @DonaldYearwoodPhotography 4 месяца назад +1

      You paint the car on the inside and when you are finish you the remove the wrap. It prevents overspray.

    Can Tamiya PS spray can paint be used with the bittydesigns liquid masks? I’m curious as it says on Bittys website that is isn’t compatible with spray cans, cheers

    • @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
      @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne  Год назад +1

      Yes you can! They only thing you need to be careful of is the thickness of the paint is not stronger than the layer of liquid mask. This applies to airbrushing as well. Otherwise the mask will be difficult to remove. Try on a scrap first to get a feel.

    I have several different hobby knifes. One is cut in half, and one is mounted in a compass(barely bend the tip of the blade in the direction of the circle.)
    Never use any other type of liquid mask, the rest suck butt in comparison to the bitty designs liquid mask.
    I'm fine with brushing it on, but I will buy a sprayer soon.

      Oh and heavy metallic paint really needs the .5 nozzle and needle....well at least through an iawata....

    • @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
      @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne  Год назад

      BittyDesign mask rocks! Yes, 0.5 size Iwata is better for metallic or flecked paint.

    when paint black , do you use regular waterbase paint ? it doesnt crack later ?

    • @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
      @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne  2 года назад

      If using craft paint you need to test it first to ensure it has flexibility. I recommend polycarbonate or polyurethane paint.

    • @ryurc3033
      @ryurc3033 Год назад

      Add createx brand 4050 uvls clear to any water based acrylic paint and it will stick unbelievably well. I even add it to the cheaper craft paint when I need the durability/or uv protection. After you mix it, wait 15 minutes for the chemical binding to happen, then spray.
      Also distilled water for thinner, slows down the drying slightly, but a touch of reducer will speed it right back up ......

  • @onecrazygearhead
    @onecrazygearhead Год назад

    Put the reducer in first and then the paint

    If I stuff this process up what can I use to strip what I've done and start again?

    • @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
      @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne  2 года назад +2

      Small errors can be removed with the thinner that suits the paint you used. Tamiya Polycarbonate cleaning can help. I don't recommend stripping an entire body as the paint stripper will make the body brittle.

    It is easier to clean your airbrush with windshield washer fluid. It has a high alcohol content and quickly evaporates and leaves no film.

    • @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne
      @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne  Год назад

      That all depends on the type of paint being used. washer fluid will not clean lacquer or solvent based paints.

      So ein Schwachsinn.🙈 Verdünnt wird bei mir die Farbe mit Fensterreiniger und mit Isopropandol wird gereinigt. 1x die Woche wird mit Aceton gereinigt, dann aber alle Gummidichtungen entfernen.

      You can make a template on a piece of paper and copy that onto the mask. The design can be by hand or printed from your computer.
