😁YOU GUYS ASKED FOR IT- here is a list of some of my MUST HAVE furniture flipping tools and products, some NICE TO HAVE tools and products, and some things WORTH SAVING FOR.
These are just things that I use- every refinisher/flipper is going to have different preferences, and different availability in their area, but I'm hoping this will be a jumping off point for anyone interested in furniture that is just starting out. Obviously this isn't a list of every single item I use- but if you want to see more tools and products I use, you can check out my workroom tour videos- I actually open every single drawer and cupboard!
Grab a snack and a drink (and probably a pen and notepad) and hopefully you enjoy this video I made for you! ❤️

I noticed this video isn't getting as many views as your flipping videos. I hope you don't let that discourage you from posting content like this occasionally! Your subscribers appreciate you sharing your expertise
Yeah. These videos always perform horrifically in comparison, so I try to spread them out as much as possible.
Some channels skip them all together but I know that there are a few folks that could really use this sort of info, so I do them on occasion.
The main issue is that a lot of my subscribers don’t actually do furniture themselves, but like watching the process, so a video about products/tools, etc just won’t apply to them, which is totally ok!
It was actually the reason I created my other channel, that caters more to folks who actually do or want to do furniture.
This would have been perfect for that channel, but because it was a sponsored one, had to do it here instead.
Thank you for commenting though; likes, comments and shares do help videos get seen more so I appreciate it! ❤️
Wow I can't believe I didn't know about your other channel! What a smart way to cater to both forms of content. Thanks for sharing the insider info!
I am watching this in late April of 2023. 25K views. Not so bad. I would be happy with just 7 views from my kids.
@@TranscendFurnitureGalleryI still enjoyed it as I might need these when I do try restoring a couple of pieces i want to use 👍
@@TranscendFurnitureGallerywhat is the other channel?
Angie, I can't imagine the amount of time it must have taken you to organize and put together this incredibly helpful video! Then putting all the names and links of the tools you showed us.... just wow! You can't know how much this refinisher appreciates your knowledge and all the things you continue to teach me! Just wow and thanks!!
It can be so overwhelming when starting out, especially when you see someone create something beautiful with products you don't have yet. It's a good reminder to start small, see what works for you, and don't expect perfection right out the gate! Thank you for taking the time to put together such a detailed, helpful video for us!
Thank you so much for watching! It absolutely can be overwhelming, slow and steady wins the race! 😊
You are a phenomenal teacher, truly!!! I learn so much from your videos and this one, likewise, a wealth of information!
Awww.. thank you for this. It’s hard to make stuff like this not dry and boring so I’m glad at least a few folks have liked it so far. :-) These style videos always perform poorly but I like to do them every now and then because I really do get asked about this stuff a lot. So for the folks who want to know- it’s important. :-)
"You can never have too many clamps". Agreed!!!!
Thanks for watching!
My mom once experienced a “refinishing” era and this reminds me of that time when she was revealing beautiful wood from battered pieces… such wonderful memories - thank you for helping me remember 🙏
I'm so glad I could help you remember fond memories. Thank you so much for watching! 😊
❤ I am in the process of restoring family heirlooms as well! Thx fir videos & info. I love your channels . 😍
This may not be as glamorous as your other videos, but it has given me a good idea of what I need starting out. Thank you for taking the time!
You're very welcome!
One "must have" that doesn't get much thought is... a place to work. I don't have a garage, only a car port; but it is covered and I had an electrician install an outside power point so I can use things like sanders and saws in the covered part. I also have a very large shed in the back garden - but that's going to need repairs to a leaky tin roof and better (safer) electrical wiring. On very cold days, on very hot days, on windy days, on rainy days - having somewhere dedicated to work is essential; I've refinished furniture in my kitchen and lounge, and that's not really all that much fun.
A dedicated space makes all the difference in the world! It's no fun at all trying to piece out space to work and achieve correct ventilation etc. Thank you so much for watching! 😊
Thank you for pointing out that dust masks are NOT respirators! 👍🏼👍🏼
No problem!! It makes me cringe to see it. Thanks so much for watching!
Daddy had Weldwood glue powder. The stuff was amazing and I can't find it anywhere. I'm surprised you don't have pipe clamps. They fit on a pipe of any length and can be used to hold large pieces together or apart. I've used them more while working on my old house. I got a chuckle when I asked a Home Depot salesman where they were. He tried to send me to plumbing. I got him to tell me where regular clamps were. He followed me over. They were hidden at the bottom of the display and I taught him how wonderful they are. While I have restored furniture for my own use and am restoring my old home, I love watching and learning from you. Maybe one day the house will be done, the old shed will be repaired (hurricane) and I can start flipping pieces.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this one! I am attempting a gentle clean and nourishing of my Grandpa's first attempt at marquetry. A small chest of drawers hand built in 1925. I have been watching keenly at the prepping stages and finishing of other videos, but this list was so helpful. I can source some of the products at my locL hardware in my small regional town! In Australia! By the way...in Australian English we say the l in s,a,l,ve. It's a British Commonwealth thing. Same in New Zealand! 😁🌻
I can confirm that us Kiwis also say "SAL-ve," not "SAAAAh-ve."
My favorite mini ratchet/driver is made by VIM tools. High tooth count, quality ratchet mechansims, with a 1/4" end that fits 1/4" hex shaft driver bits, and a 5/16" end that holds a 1/4" socket adapter. I had one for 10 years or more, that was HD house branded, but found the one they sell now is not as good. Found the VIM tools one on Amazon. (I have no connection to the company, other than loving that one tool they make.)😂
Great info, Angie!
I am a little bit handy, and have over the years accumulated a lot of tools. I surprise myself at times - "I really bought that?" as I look in some corner or forgotten box. Having and using are very different, so it's excellent having your videos as encouragement and reference.
My late Dad was very handy, and as a chemist who specialized in paints and coatings he made a lot of wonderful and useful things when I was growing up, and left a storehouse of tools and memories.
It all comes together 😅
Thank you so much for watching John! Your Dad sounds like a fantastic guy!! 😊
This is such a helpful, informative video. Excellent content 💖 Just found the link for the lists of tools and basic products. I have so many of these tools, but they're scattered about in different project areas, and your concise list will help so much with organizing and filling in the gaps when I need to shop.
You're a great teacher, and I've learned so much from you. Inspiring! Keep up the awesome work, you're a gem 💖
Awe, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you're finding my content helpful and that I'm inspiring you. Thank you so much for watching! ❤️❤️
Isn't it funny, that even where people say 'sav' for salve (like where I'm from in CA), we say salvage and not 'savage'. 😂 Love this essentials roundup. Thanks so much!
Thank YOU for watching! 😊
Thank you! This is extremely helpful. As someone who only does this when I really need to make a change or find something tossed or cheap that I want to upgrade, I really don't know that the best tools are to start with. This is great. Thank you so much!
You're very welcome! Thank you so much for watching and I'm glad you found it helpful! 😊
This is just amazing, thank you! I admire your work so much. I trust your recommendations and appreciate you sharing all of this information and putting it together. While I will never be able to refinish with the artistic eye you have, and the amazing expertise you clearly have, it's just wonderful giving us recommendations about which products are must haves, nice to haves, etc. THANK YOU!!!
Thank YOU for watching! I'm glad the list is helpful! 😊
And this is less important, but verrry important to me…your voice is very kind and soothing, your articulation is wonderful, speed and inflection are just right. Your explanations are fab, and they way you let us know what you do and why are outstanding.
I truly appreciate your going through what you use and why! Ive been using Wooster brushes for years as I work for a Benjamin Moore Dealer and have access to their Wooster brush full line( plus I live about an hour away from Wooster, Ohio), so its easy for me to get brushes. Having recently purchased alot of the must haves that youve shown makes me feel better about justifying my motives to purchase. It'll be awhile before I can get a festool system, but I'm good with duct tape and my wet dry vac! Lol Thank you for sharing your list as there are things I didnt even think of that will now get my attention.
Love your videos and how you share your experiences, both good and bad!
Have an awesome day and give the kitties a pet for me!
You're so welcome Tom! Consider the cats loved on for you. 😺 Lucky you on the brushes! I'm glad my list was helpful and thank you again for watching!
Angie, what a nicely organized and comprehensive listing with explanations. Perfect in time for gift giving. (A bank style gift card would be the perfect gift for the aspiring or growing woodworker. Being able to choose our own tools and supplies is like getting the key to the candy store, both materially and as an affirmation of our passion.)
That would be a fantastic gift for any woodworker for sure! Thank you so much for watching! 😊 I'm glad the list was helpful!
I'd like to add something in Shop Safety Equipment- a metal trash can for rags or shop cloths that have been used with solvents or finishes. They can spontaneously combust, and my dad found this out by chance one night. Someone has left some finishing rags on a wooden bench, and he came upon it smoldering. Could have been a disaster. Shop rags go in a metal bin with lid!
💯! It’s truly scary how easily it can happen too!
SUPER HELPFUL! Loved this video as someone who has some of her own pieces that need work. Love what you do - thanks for sharing your work.
Glad it was helpful! 🙂
Harbor freight makes a pretty good trailer for about 500.00 that you could pull behind your jeep for bigger objects. You could customize it to add a canopy to keep stuff dry while transporting. If you're interested.....
Thanks for the tip! 😀
Thank you Angie, this video is so helpful. I needed a wood glue and because I value your opinion, I searched and came across this video. So grateful for your knowledge and expertise. Tks for sharing!!!
You are so welcome! 😀
Thank you for taking the time to put this together. It’s very helpful for us souls hoping to have a go but not much clue what to gather now and what to put on the wish list. 😀
Love this video. I am a beginner at furniture refinishing and the thought of having to buy a whole new set of tools and products was daunting. But I have quite a few of the tools you listed and scant product so I feel I can buy the rest as I go and progress in my ability and enthusiasm. Thanks Angie!
You're so welcome! Glad it was helpful! 😀
Excellent advice. It's nice to see all the different products that are needed to produce a quality finish. Really interesting for beginners. Thank you.
You're so welcome! Thank you so much for watching!
I hope you had a GREAT vacation!
We did! It was short- only Friday to Monday, but for the first full weekend off in three years, it was just perfect! Little chilly there- but warmer than it was at home, so I’ll take it lol
I so enjoy your videos. My Dad was a carpenter/Jack-of-all-trades and listening to your videos is like being in the garage with him working on a project. Many, many thanks for the memories.
You're so very welcome. Thank you so much for watching, and I'm glad I can bring back fond memories for you! 😊
Have been binging on you channel all day.
Love Love your content.
I have my mother's king size bedroom set I want to refinish but have not found content which gets to the nitty-gritty like your channel. Wow I am so inspired and after watching know I can do it!!! 😊😊😊
That is awesome! You absolutely can do it. Thank you so much for watching and take a scroll through all of my content, there's a bunch of videos that may be of use to you. Thanks so much for watching!
Super helpful! And I always admire how spotless your work space is , even the tools ! Thanks for taking the time to post this it’s very useful !
Thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad you found it helpful! 😊
I got such a chuckle out of the "salve" thing. You're saying it perfectly correctly because you speak English perfectly correctly. So that should solve the salve dilemma. Love this video. So much great info presented clearly and succinctly. Thank you.
I wonder what the local pronunciation of “salmon” is…😝
@@mirandamom1346 Despite being next door to our American friends, Canadians for the most part tend to follow the UK pronunciation of words. So while in Canada the "l" in salve is pronounced, the "l" in salmon is not. Ain't English weird😁
Missthang is correct, we do not pronounce the l in salmon.
Thank you so much for watching and your kind, reassuring words! They are truely appreciated.
Thank you for the effort it took to pull this together and present in a very well thought out format
Glad you enjoyed it! You're very welcome!
Wow this video is packed with information, even if just for beginners. Thorough. Thank you for taking the time to put this together!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Wow, This is very useful, Thank you for all that info. Furniture finishing is a passion for me, the only problem for me now is space. A true workshop to work in and enjoy the process. Thanks again.
Thank YOU so much for watching! 😊
Thanks, Angie. I do so appreciate your teaching and sharing your knowledge with us.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
You're right Angie we called it saLve in Scotland too ( think rest of uk too) 👌
So wild the differences sometimes. 😀
Great knowledge but even better teacher. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Thank you!!! I am just starting to refinish and flip pieces for my own home, so this video is extremely helpful! 😊
You are so welcome! I'm glad I could help. 🙂Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much!😊
You're very welcome!
Thank you so much for taking time to make this video! It is incredibly helpful.
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
I pronounce salve like you do and I live in SE USA
love yer tool review. Btw that ratcheting screw driver is evil!!😂
😆Thanks so much for watching!
Super useful, thank you!
Love these info packed videos Angie!! Thank you :)
Thank you so much!
This video is EVERYTHING! Thank you so much for making it! ❤❤❤
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you , so helpful!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this information!
You're most welcome! 🙂
I am really enjoying this video. It is very clear and informative. I have a lot of the items, but you introduced new items. I also like how you related each item to a different step in furniture restoration. My problem is that I seem to have a knack of picking up furniture and now I don't have space in my garage to work. It is also difficult to find the time, but I am determined to get started. Thanks for all the tips and pointers.
You are very welcome! I completely understand the space issue - I started out in the basement of our last house and it was an experience!
thanks For the info
Thank you so much for watching!
Angie, Thank you SO much! Just the answers I needed. ❤
I'm so glad!
Thank you Angie! This was such a helpful video for the people just getting started. Have been watching your wonderful video's and purchasing some tools here and there. Now hopefully plunging in and starting a small project - a little children's table that was left out in the back yard a little too long.
Yay! I'm so glad I could inspire you! Best of luck on your first project. Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks good info

Great video. I have an odd assortment of tools, and was thinking of tackling a refinish on an antique sewing machine I recently purchased. Found your channel and love it - subscribed!
Luckily, I have some of these tools already, but this will help me buy a few things I don't have.
Glad it was helpful! I'm so glad you were able to find me! Thank you so much for watching!
Very helpful!
Thank you!
Angie, your work is incredible. One tool I didn’t see is a very thin shiny pry bar you have that you use for removing some trims and details on furniture. I have looked everywhere and I can’t find a pry bar that small and thin. It would be so handy. Can you let me know where you got it? I would love to get one. Thanks and keep up the AMAZING work!

Thank you Carol!
Hi Angie, thank you so much for this video, it it so helpful. I will set up a private shop in the future to restore a lot of my collectables. I already have some tools, but know now what is missing and what to aim for. Thank you so much, keep up the good work and all the best for the new year!
I'm so glad I could help! Thank you so much for watching! Happy New Year to you as well. 😀
I need to make one of these videos 😉 good stuff👌
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching! 😊
You do amazing work and I can’t thank you enough for being willing to guide us newbies
Happy Sunday. Great informative video. Can’t wait for the digital prints. Please post on yt as soon as they become available ❤😊
Will do!! Thanks so much for watching!
I actually use many of the same products you use. This is due to watching your videos and your exceptional explanations of the tools and products. I believe this also a byproduct of your learning experience with skillshare and other platforms. You probably subconsciously describe techniques in a way you have seen through the skillshare videos. I can definitely see the quality of your explanations getting better overtime. There are a few other channels that I watch and I would say that Mad City Modern is my second favorite, but I would caution people to not use his techniques for flipping, because his finishing style does not hold up overtime. Definitely use the finishing techniques used here if you want returning customers. I see a need to use toners, but I am still not confident with them. A tutorial video from you would be a great help. I haven’t been able to find any good videos regarding toners for the flipping use case. I have researched many of the techniques you use and I can honestly say that there isn’t much that you don’t do the right way. The only process you use that caused problems for me is using normal wood glue for veneer. I got a lot of bleed through. Switching to a proper veneer glue fixed that for me.
Thanks so much for watching! 😊
Andy thanks for putting this together I have many of the products you mentioned many from your suggestions from watching your other videos.
I'm so those velcro ties on the electrical cords of the sander vacuum. I had purchased those on Amazon and they're great for keeping electrical cords need for all my power tools or anything with an electrical cord. 👍❤️
Thanks so much for watching. Just an FYI - my name is Angie. Welcome to the channel.
Very good information. I cannot recall any other channel that ever mentioned a First Aid Kit and I believe that should be a priority. I have observed none of them in-person or on video so that info is priceless. (I actually have a First Aid Kit in minivan along with my eppi-pen. I can be a bit klutzy.) Thank you for taking the time to create such a beneficial video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch it! Safety is so very important, it cannot be overlooked! 😊
Thanks for this Angie. Much appreciated. I had completely forgotten about the mini ratchet screwdriver and could have used it last night with something I was struggling with! Cheers. It's now purchased.
You are so welcome! Thank you so much for watching!
@@TranscendFurnitureGallery Merry Christmas Angie. Hope you're having a great one.

Hi Angie! Can you recommend a video to help me make a base and legs for some dressers I have, please?
Hi Jessica! This video should help: ruclips.net/video/n3nEtWUwgv4/видео.html
Thanks for watching!
Thanks! FYI, dead link for Eye protection (Canadian Link)
Thanks so much for watching and thanks a million for the deadlink heads up! I'll look into it and get it fixed! 😊
Hi! I’m a writing to let you know that I love your videos! I learn so much from you. Thanks! Also, I used your 50% off of Skillshare! That is a great deal!!! Again, thank you! 💓
ah! That's great! Ive really been enjoying it. RUclips is great, don't get me wrong, lol.. but the classes on Skillshare I find are so much more structured and concise in most cases, and I love that they are ad free for the viewers, downloadable to watch later if you don't have wifi, etc. It's a great platform.
Great information. Have you tried Black Dog Salvage (Roanoke, Virginia) paint products? The matt finish coat & the black matt are my current favorites. I, too, like Fusion, but the BDS are also great to use & much better price point.
No, I've honestly never heard them. Thanks so much for watching!
I enjoy your voice and accent!
Thanks so much for watching Tony!
Looking for a couple video recommendations for working with OAK. Did a search of "transcend furniture oak" but no luck. Starting my first project ever with an oak Child Craft crib approx 30+ years old. Bought it used for my own babies and passing it on to my daughter. Stored in an attic, then a basement... needs some TLC and updating. Daughter is hoping for a grey/beige type of finish or something light and muted.
I have done oak projects in the past, there are a couple Oak dressers in some of the compilation videos but nothing full length as of yet. I do however have some oak piece in storage that will be coming up in future videos. Best of luck with your project and thanks so much for watching!
