Volume wise, deskmini is 1.92L and this one is a little over 1L, so it's almost twice the size, but I ultimately went with how much desk space the PC would use and came to the conclusion that deskmini is smaller when laid horizontally (25 square inches vs. 50)

    • @NUDELMOB
      @NUDELMOB 3 года назад

@@keysersoju9823 You're right, the DeskMini is smaller in length and width. I was just thinking how this small height makes it super easy to transport in a backpack or even a carry bag. So you could carry it around between two sites that have the necessary peripherals. (just fantasizing)

That is really nice! Sure, you can build a Asrock A300 or some similar Mini PC for less (if you get the parts), but this tiny desktop PC seems to be quite powerful and for something out-of-the-box enough powerful for an average user.
But now I'll have to watch a comparison between this and something with a Ryzen 2400G or 3400G since I have no idea, how fast these benchmarks numbers are. If you have the time, maybe you could blend in some numbers from you previous Mini PC builds for comparison in your next review of this kind. It would help to differentiate it from something like you J4115 build or one of these Asrock A300 just to get an idea, how much faster this tiny thing is.

Wow you got an awesome deal for sure. Waiting for one to go on sale again, really thought 4th of July would have some good deals but no such luck. Have you ever thought about doing some videos on monitors? I don't have any experience with Benq monitors but I figured yours is probably a good bang for the buck given your pragmatism. What's the model# of that monitor if you don't mind me asking?

I remember in a previous video that he said most of the products he gets for review he will use for a while for videos and then if he doesn't need it he will donate it to schools and other places and I would imagine he occasionally sells stuff to fund new products as well, so he probably has a collection of stuff stored somewhere, but I doubt he has mountains of devices.

@ETA PRIME have you thought about reaching out to these manufacturers to build the perfect Mini PC maybe through a Kickstarter or something of that nature?

I just bought this computer with the R7 4750GE. I wonder if the extra compute power is limited by the power restriction. I sure hope not. I'm also curious about the possible ramifications of using a higher wattage power supply (as Neil suggests below). I probably won't get much feedback, though, since this video is a year and a half old.

You should try installing gameros. it is a steam os. Noting but steam. This could be a great little dedicated steam box.

If it had Thunderbolt that I could use for eGPU support it would be a perfect all-around PC.

Just use a sata drive and use the m.2 slot with a pci-e adapter to make your own e-gpu. Kinda messy, but well worth the effort.

The really downside is the price tag tho xD

Yeah, I also feel like these should have gotten cheaper by now. OEMs dragged their feet on AMD APUs and have really only made it to market now, in the middle of this PC market chaos.

@@radry100 and drastically less performance. You miss the point. Low powered versions of these processors have been around for years. These new 6 and 8 core processors are really exciting because of the extra power.

Was able to get snag one off ebay for $400. Should work great as a desktop for the next few years prior to transitioning it over to a low-power server.
Edit: Noticed a typo.. On Doom Eternal you showed the footage of 1600x900 (900p) but the text in the bottom left says 720p.

I love the idea of something like this, the only problem is longevity. The graphics performance is fixed and can never improve, so once it's too slow it's dead basically, despite the CPU being capable of more.

Not if you’re willing to sacrifice the NVME drive for a sata ssd so you can run an m.2 to pci-e adapter to make an ad-hoc E-GPU setup. Even a 1650 or a 2060 would make for a good shot in the leg for this tiny guy.

Yeah, this sounds interesting. He would have to give up the M.2 drive for a sata drive as main storage, but even a cheap GPU like a 1650ti would likely make this thing run rings around most triple A games at reasonable settings. I love the “small form factor w/e-gpu” setups. A setup like that would be ideal for the casual gamer in a tiny-home or RV/boondocking environment.

So I'm guessing this would be a great mini PC to put into a virtual pinball machine to try to get at least 4K 60fps pinball gameplay? Or is that asking for too much? Maybe use this to upgrade my arcade one up virtual pinball 🤔
