You know it's a good day when Bethany is packing steel...I wish I was back in L.A. revisiting all these places ...thanks again for everything....you folks should do a patreon meet up sometime..I'd plan a vacation around it
Thanks for the memory-jogging lookback at five of your favorites, Bethany and Drew. Really enjoy your off-the-beaten-path adventures. Thumbs up, of course!
Love the intro guys! I like your choice of hikes, all very interesting and a nice trip back to past videos. Gives everyone a glimpse into your amazing adventures and all of the places you bring us. Keep up the great work!
Wow, I didn't know there were big horn sheep in Los Angeles County...reason enough to hike to the mine. (although the chances of seeing them are probably minimal) I'd be interested in an episode featuring your top 5 hikes in other categories.
@@yehman71 , My friend was 2 feet from an entire herd passing right in front of him. I observed this from 50 feet away. I led, as my friend Jeff and I traversed a small canyon, which had a small stream running through it. A loud rock fall sound was heard, as I turned around, I saw a ram standing right in front of my friend. This canyon was extremely narrow at this point, maybe 20 feet wide, with walls at about 85* (almost vertical). Now, no one moved or spoke, that ram that was within reach of Jeff. They just stared at each other. I could hear the big ram breathing hard. After a minute or so, which seemed like eternity, the ram leaped up the other side. 10 seconds later, the entire herd traced the ram’s hoof prints with my buddy and I not moving an inch. After it was all over, we ran at each other, laughing hysterically, knowing damn well that that ram could’ve ended both of our lives that day. I just recently visited Jeff and we relived that old story.
Unfortunately, Murphy Ranch has been largely torn down now. The Powerhouse is still there, but the Motorpool building and the entryway are both now gone. :(
Hi Guys, Lovin the videos! Great idea to to the top 5 hikes you have chosen. By the way....can you share what sound recording system your using for in the field recording. It seems to be excelent! 😁
Hey, our friend! For our audio we use a Zoom Audio Recorder and we each wear a lavalier mic - We have links to the equipment we use in the description of our videos if you're interested in checking them out. :)
Re. #5: I'm almost positive the waterfall was used in the 1970s horror movie "The Incredible Melting Man." Just a short scene, showing a decapitated head rolling down the waterfall in slow motion. 😬
Let’s see… I think there’s plenty of mildly unusual hikes. Potato Chip Rock, Black Star Canyon, Skull Rock, Ortega Falls… and just searching “haunted hiking trails southern California” brings up a surprisingly long list.
Very cool! I loved seeing and remembering these places. Thank you both!

Patreon meet-up would be a lot of fun! Let's see what we can make happen this year.
All of these are fun hikes in LA. Thanks for recap. Good editing.
Check out hikes here in Palm Springs area too!

I saw them on Scout hikes when I was a youth. I have an unbelievable story about them, just past the Bridge to Nowhere where we were camped.
@@rh5563 Yep. Hike to bridge to nowhere around October-November and you will likely see some big horns.
@@yehman71 , they were there in the summer as well.
@@rh5563 They are so AWESOME to see!!!!

The Palos Verdes shipwreck
How are you guys doing with all the rain that’s fallen? You may need to trade in the car for a couple of kayaks to get around.
We still have our kayak from the Venice Canals episode that we've been talking about putting on standby just in case!
Damm I’ve been to all those lol
Hi my name is rufio just wanted to say that I love the videos and Bethany we went to high school together at Hemet high we're both in theater
If you do this hike this year in 2024, be VERY careful. It is easy to be swept down the stream because the water is rushing. Use hiking poles.
I’m confused, I have all notifications enabled but I never get any.
At least I find them, thank you
Uh oh - Thanks for letting us know! It's something we'll look into. We appreciate you finding our content anyways!
