I don’t think we’ve decayed, I think we underestimated our capacity for destruction. We have this unique (melting pot) society that hasn’t ever existed and we take it for granted because we’ve never known anything different. We only exist because we agree on a common morality which requires active maintenance. For the last few decades a segment of our population has been attacking our culture, trying to divide our united people into tribal groups with the oppressor vs oppressed narrative and we have allowed them do so unopposed. If we don’t stop them we only have ourselves to blame for the barbarism that follows.

Brilliant Man! What a note to finish to finish on! To isolate the vulnerability of the Present as temporal, and impossible to repeat, doesn't alleviate... but does add a perspective outside. I don't know much about History, and especially the history of War. The American position contemporarily given a measure, today, was great. An introduction to Victor Davis Hanson appreciated too. And great performance by your cat, he/she (Pinns?) knows the score to be sure. Thanks for the work that goes into this podcast. It's very very very cool. James.

Never forget Zelenskyy’s Ukraine 🇺🇦 is a mouth piece for the USA 🇺🇸 government and the USA 🇺🇸 government is controlled by AIPAC 🇮🇱 financiers so it’s not Zelenskyy’s peace proposals it’s AIPAC 🇮🇱 financiers peace proposals. This is not surprising though as AIPAC financiers already own UKRAINE 🇺🇦. I wonder what will happen when the brave soldiers of Ukraine 🇺🇦 realise they have been sold to AIPAC 🇮🇱 financiers by Zelensky and his henchmen who don’t believe “Christ is lord” and have closed down their churches and killed and imprisoned their clergy? Could be a little problematic I would suggest for the unelected president of Ukraine 🇺🇦 and his henchmen?

You are right and I can listen to Victor Davis Hanson all day!! I went to college and I got my grad degree in history and then I went ahead and went onto law school. The one thing I knew even before studying history because I loved it from the age of eight on when my dad ordered these World War II, Tom life books and it was a series of four that came in the mail and I grabbed the first.
I took it to my room and started reading it, and it was on the second one came in the mail a month or two later, my dad was asking about the first volume. Hmmm? Oh I had it and when I told him I had been reading it and he wasn’t angry at all, but rather shocked that the girl that was almost 9, and played soccer would be interested in that, but he knew I was a student and academic. I loved history and I did not take western civilization in grade school, but I took it in college.. the one thing history even going back to the American revolution early European history and Anglo-Saxon history ,it shows there’s nothing new under the sun and history repeats itself. In today’s world Communist, China is playing chess. One other countries are playing checkers and the CCP is pure evil and I don’t want a America a United States, which is my country to get involved in a China disaster over between China and Taiwan. However, I’m just perplexed as to why China got this land in 1945 after World War II and even after the communist revolution in 1949, Mao had no desire to go into Taijuan, which was where the prior government fled. I think he believed he had enough to take care of there, and that big country, and they were on a mass murder spree and murdering all the landlords & landowners..However, MANY of those peasants and other individuals who helped him with the revolution, which they normally would not have won if not for Soviet help. Do USA and didn’t help the democratic government and China but they were so wiped out after Japan invaded them in the 1930s that they were weak and during that time does CCP just hid up in the mountains and work hours when they really should’ve been fighting for their land as well. That’s why I see the CCP as being evil, conniving, and they cheat, and they still so much we could pay off our national deficit with all the intellectual property China has stolen from us. One day at & pretty sure that the USA will cash in because every airplane or ship China has made with technology. They stole from the USA or another western country is not made the same.. even trying to build it to the best of their standards, which would be better than total crap to us here in America, or something that falls apart, there lady is not equipped to go into deep waters, even though they’ve been working on it, but their ships look like yachts and appear to be made out of fiberglass more than steel unless that’s just the way they look. China hasn’t had anything to do with Taiwan in so long and I don’t want to see the culture on that island destroyed and at the same time I think as an American in the USA that we shouldn’t get into this because it’s not worth World War III, and if World War III does happen., & the allies are victorious. We will gladly give Taiwan and the people that land back- God willing they live. Try not going into Taijuan would be much much worse than Hong Kong and Hong Kong used to be a colony of Britain’s and when Britttany moved out some years later, the Chinese just went rolling in and they were really furious that the people in Hong Kong we’re waiting American flags in those people probably got killed..
The Chinese are playing biological warfare with illnesses and chemical warfare with a compound to make fentanyl with the Mexican cartels. It was Great Britain and not the United States that sold opiate and opioid to the Chinese people that calls in the generation of shame, etc.. china just wants what we have but at the same time they’re also drooling over what’s going on in Russia because Russia is right next-door. China plays, and that’s the way Axis Powers always fight, and that is that they will stab each other in the back when they can. Turner will use anybody and everybody didn’t feed America and then they’ll go into the jugular just to have Russia because the United States and Russia have every natural resources and we really are not dependent on anybody else in the world. We trade because we do but it’s not something we have to do and China does not have the resources like the vast amounts of fertile soil & water amongst other things that Russia and the United States has. I’m thankful to live in the USA because you can go to state or two beside you and it looks like a different country. Russia is awful because during World War II, the Germans, and just the German non-Nazi third Reich soldiers said when it was warm the bugs were atrocious, were nasty, and then when it was colder, it was just absolutely freezing, and the climate, the train, and the bugs in the freezing cold were miserable there. They could not imagine German people wanting to even spread out there and LIVE like in other areas in Western Europe like the Baltics, Poland, Ukraine but probably just farm there. There’s nothing new under the sun.. here in the USA, we just have a very corrupt government and their inefficient, so worried and controlling re: social issues. Unlike World War II, when Japan attacked pearl harbor., one of the senior military brass in Japan, said there was absolutely no way you could invade America and even think about winning because behind every newspaper there was a weapon! 😂😂 true!! it’s my second amendment people will keep them and not let go of them, and even though we know there are nukes and intercontinental blisters, it doesn’t matter because at least we’ll have something to protect ourselves with.
Americans in the USA or some crazy people and I don’t know sometimes if they are crazy and dangerous, which makes them good heroes, but kind of bad guy heroes. (You have to see a video on RUclips of the fat electrician and he’s talking about Jake McNasty, but his name was Jake McNeese! 😂 it is a very entertaining story, and especially with the fat electrician telling it. It is all true, and this guy should’ve been kicked out and he was in the stockade more than out of it, but he, and a couple of other guys very similar to him, were excellent for what they were about to do in Nazi occupied Europe, and they wanted to jump out of airplanes and go blow up things behind enemy lines!! they were perfect for that kind of work. Jake lived a long life, but it was him being born around 1919 and living through the great depression and having to go hunt and fish to survive with his mom and dad with eight other siblings that made him that way but he was a hard worker.! he worked with the fire department, and he didn’t actually have to go in the World War II, and he didn’t have to get drafted, but he chose to enlist.
During the American revolution, there was a Scotsman, who moved to America when it was still a British colony, and his name was John Paul Jones in the father of the US Navy, and that man race, all kinds of hell, with his buddies destroying arsenals over in Britain and one in Scotland and then they went to France to fully but they ship was broken so they had to get another one to get back to America. And the British were sick of the Americans because they were a pain in the butt and they had to call the British way back to Great Britain because of this guy and his 50-100 sailors. Now I will get American Western Europe and we have a younger group that is extremely weak and they wine and throw temper tantrums all the time.. Bill Maher said on HBO that he thought they were trying to be noble but they were really being assholes!😂 those are the first people to go running behind and crying for Mommy when somebody starts firing a guns

I'm 70 years old and reside in Australia. I have been a student of history for 60 of those years, and from 1972, duly kept abreast of politics, both domestically and increasingly with foreign nuances.
I have travelled to 51 countries, and been to and through the US, on 14 occasions. And whilst I don't pretend, let alone purport to be an oracle on anything, I can say I'm well versed on the machinations of VDH. Alas, the warnings that he makes about a plethora of things is skin to the biblical adage of, casting pearls before swine.
Regrettably, the Western world, ostensibly with the US, Britain, and Canada are way past the point of salvation. This is due to a few coherences, but most significantly so due to mass non- discriminatory immigration programs, which have radically transmogrified their social fabrics. And this is diabolically proven with the hundreds of thousands of Muslims who have staged continuous pro-Palestinian rallies in England since late October.
Meanwhile, the US, is embroiled in serious conflicts in Ukraine, and Gaza/Israel. As for defending Taiwan from Chinese aggression is as likely as catching bubbles that a child might blow.

Submarines, Victor, submarines! We've already heard from CINCPAC that in the event of an attempted amphibious invasion of Taiwan that because of China's potent ship and shore based anti-ship missile forces, US carrier battle groups will have to be kept approximately 1,000 nautical miles east of the battle area. This dictates that all US and Allied tactical air assets will have to sortie from air bases ashore in Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Saipan, and Guam.
The good news, if there is any, is that US and Allied fast attack submarines will be the decisive key to thwarting a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. First, subs will have laid potent anti-ship minefields in strategic grids guarding all avenues of approach to the severely limited suitable landing sites on Taiwan's coasts. Many of those mines may already be in place. Modern anti-ship mines can lie dormant for years waiting to be remotely armed when needed. It would take an enormous mine sweeping effort by a highly specialized fleet of vessels that the Chinese don't have, to clear a wide enough path for an amphibious flotilla to pass through en route to Taiwan.
Secondly, the subs can easily torpedo and destroy most of a Chinese invasion force before it even reaches the open waters of the Strait, and then pick off any survivors at will. Detractors will point out that the Taiwan Strait is generally rather shallow for attack submarine operations, but attack boat sailors have told me that is not true. It would be more hazardous to operate offensively there, but not impossible.
Thirdly, amphibious assaults are notoriously difficult to execute. The premier and currently only national practitioner of amphibious warfare is the US Marine Corps-US Navy team which has had a hundred years since the British debacle at Gallipoli to perfect the highly specialized shipping, weapons, and tactics to successfully perform an amphibious landing on a heavily defended island like Taiwan. The Chinese don't have the required specialized shipping they would need and aren't currently trying to build it. It's extremely unlikely that they could develop this capability in a matter of a couple decades, let alone the three to five years that is being talked about by US military planners. Right now the PRC's sham plan for transporting troops and combat vehicles to Taiwan is to use intercoastal commercial ferries which is risable to anyone who knows anything about amphibious warfare.
In my opinion, the PRC is using its open threat of invading Taiwan as a political tool to intimidate the Taiwanese government into agreeing to peaceful unification with the mainland. I'm afraid that you and a lot of other foreign policy experts have been taken in by this Chinese ploy.

Your analysis is better than his. My livelihood is deeply dependent on the situation in the pacific. Analysis predicts that American subs will be able to sink two to three large amphibious warships every 2.5 days and each sub will have a 20% chance of being sunk itself in these 2.5 days.

    • @bearowen5480

@@bathhatingcat8626 You don't say whose "analysis" predicts the loss of )friendly subs at one every 2.5 days. I totally scoff at that. First, amphibious ships would have to travel with other ships in a convoy protected by destroyers and other ASW assets such as patrol planes and Chinese submarines. Our submarines will destroy multiple ships with each single attack. This is not WWII where torpedoes were unguided and a "spread" of them were fired to sink a single ship. With modern torpedoes, one "fish" fired equals one target destroyed. They're that good and that lethal. Our subs would easily fire six to eight torpedoes nearly simultaneously, each fish individually targeted on a different ship with a nearly 100% probability of kill. It would be a free for all, something that generations of submariners dream of: "a target rich environment"!
Secondly, the best anti-submarine forces in the world very seldom are ever successful in finding, much less attacking a stealthy nuclear powered attack submarine. The Chinese are far from being the best ASW forces in the world! In a hypothetical war against an amphibious Chinese invasion of Taiwan, I seriously doubt that the US submarine force would lose a single sub to enemy ASW action.

Remember the USA 🇺🇸 government is run and controlled by AIPAC 🇮🇱 so I would ask, “how this affects AIPAC 🇮🇱 financiers” not the USA 🇺🇸, if you want to know why this is happening?
You will never get the full picture unless you realise who the USA 🇺🇸 government, intelligence agencies, press and American 🇺🇸 social media, are run by and that is AIPAC 🇮🇱 financiers.
In fact I would stop saying the American 🇺🇸 government and start to refer to it as the AIPAC 🇮🇱 government as they are in control of it not the American 🇺🇸 population.
It’s not the American 🇺🇸 government interfering it’s always AIPAC 🇮🇱 interfering.

They have yet to show aptitude in coordination of large-scale combined operations. Their so-called ace in the hole access denial weapon, ballistic missiles are unproven and reliant on a tenous kill chain highly vulnerable to countermeasures. Now, being able to bombard fixed targets in Taiwan, Guam, Philippines, and Japan might be problematic. PRC nukes are at 500, not a thousand, and their current doctrine does not emphasize it for offensive war to take Taiwan but rather for strategic nuclear deterrence that said could be a problem if their n7clear policy changes.

Our culture is much more like ancient Rome and the Roman empire than previous constitutional bouts or european foes. For instance, the early Roman empire was decadant, had sex shows, gladiatory bouts, eurasian trade routes, inflated currency, extreme income inequality, oligarchs, puppet theatres, dirt aesthetics, and mercenary armies. This is very different than the abstinence of American past times. Is this inevitable trajectory of a bankrupt empire?
