Am I the only one who was bothered by Vusi pointing out how he had decided that he needed to be "man enough" and how he kinda invalidated Mlungisi's experience. Yes they may have had different experiences but one can tell his story without trying to shadow the other person's right? And anyway, Mlungisi was way too young when he went to prison.
It got my attention too, but I don't think he meant it like that. I think he was just trying emphasize that he needed to be able to stand up for himself given the circumstances he was presented with - not necessarily to immasculate Mlungisi or invalidate his experience (used in example).

Mlungisi God elevated him, everything he says is so touching and his voice u can hear he learned a lot Spiritually, is not him speaking but the voice of God.

I feel like Vusi is those kind of men who don't want to be associated with the stigma of convicts and rape in prison,at first he said he never saw any rape in prison then later said it di happen to others but not to him,I didn't like how he said "it's a choice" after Mlungisi clearly explained that he had to join the number to be safe from abuse,I believe that Vusi might also be downplaying his experience and I wish to hug Mlungisi not because I feel sorry for him but I'm inspired by his strength,prison did not break him💛

He is hiding alot and dojjing questions answering in his own different way, this guy is been raped as well just like he said some off the things even his family dont know some of the things that happened
This is the second time I am hearing Mlungisi speak about this on RUclips and it breaks my heart every time! They really took advantage of him.,.. there is an innocence I see in him, may God continue to keep and protect him. I wish him so many blessings!!! As a mom of two boys he is teaching me a lot.

I feel like Vusi was not ready to reveal a lot about his experiences in prison and he is somehow playing it down as if it wasn’t that bad for him. I strongly believe there’s more he witnessed and experienced than he is willing to share for whatever reason. Mlungisi on the other hand is really open and honest about his painful experience and is ready to lay it all out, and I applaud him for that. I wish Mlungisi all the best and healing in his new chapter in life and I hope the youth will learn from such stories and stay away from crime 💝 ❤️
I honestly noticed that.. after Mlungisi mentioned that he was raped and was forced to join a gang to protect himself Vusi made it look like he didn't go through that because it was a choice and that he had to be man enough....it was rather unsympathetic and condescending

As much as I can say individuals can have a different experience in the same situations I do feel vusi was very reluctant to be honest.
The way he made it seem like the young man in white brought rape upon himself really is upsetting to watch, at every moment he got he would highlight weaknesses /drugs / not being man enough.
It’s ok to tell your story without shitting on someone else’s.
Mlungisi’s story is so touching… he accepted God and I wish him protection and a healthy life forever and ever… Amen!

Also, I hope everyone else in here also feels that what Vusi shared with us was just a drop in the ocean. Man was hiding a lot of things but made it sound like yena he was having it light in there instead...which is a lie. At least that's how I feel. However, I respect both of these gentlemen very much.

I Stan, I think Mlungisi could have been given the platform on his own. There's still quite a lot that a lot of people could actually hear about his prison experience. I've seen one of his prior RUclips videos, and I can say the history that he has, is just immense.

I don't understand why a good story has to always appear sad. Vusi is also telling his story and that's his story. No pride in it. He was privileged to have a supportive mother, courage and matured. Well said just 2 different men with different backgrounds both found themselves in prison for different reasons .Moral of the story they both agree jail is not a good place.
I loved listening to the guy in the white shirts story… it so sad, I don’t know how he went 10 years without having any visitors… that must have been so long and lonely… but he overcome his obstacles. You are strong ❤️

What Mlungisi says it's so painful but TRUE I have a relative whose a warder when he shares what happens in prisons you realize that no one is safe both the prisoners and warders.When they fight inside the wardes are not sure if it's happening or it's a trap that's why they don't act immediately.

I love how people are allowed to express themselves in their mother tongue because some shows have brilliant stories but they get watered down by broken English and we lose the purpose of the interview. This interview was refreshing and very much needed 🙌🏽

That is his expressed lived experience and how he says he focused to survive. It would not be fair to invalidate it. Fact is he was in jail which is obvs no walk in the park. The rest is... just the rest. He is a new man.

I enjoyed watching Mlungisi unpack his story,he did he with a passion for a person who went through all that.Vusi yena had witnessed inmates dying, slept with corpses yet his experience was somewhat good.Worse there are similarities between their stories.I find it hard to believe he was really open.

At 18 and 27 their experiences were always going to be different. Their upbringings also sound like they were so different.
I wish the other guy was a little more empathetic to Mlungisi’s experience. I am glad Mlungisi survived his painful ordeal and I hope he lives long ,so that his experience can be a lesson to others♥️.

These guys stories are very inspiring. The fact that they were able to turn their lives around like that. What Mlungisi went through could have broken him but through sheer will and God's grace he has turned his life around and using his life story to inspire others. I hope his story reaches as many youth as possible.

Though it feels like Vusi is understating his experience in Prison. We simply cannot expect two people from two different prisons to have the same kind of experiences or stories to tell.
We don’t expect them to have the same experience, we expect them to show empathy to those sharing their experiences. Vusi kept invalidating Mlungisi’s sexual assault and reasons for joining a gang as if Mlungisi chose those circumstances himself.

Its because according to law adulthood begins at 18, so although you’re still young by societal standards the law regards you as an adult so you get adult punishment.

They need to test people that are going to prison for many infections and put them in cells according to their sicknesses because it's really unfair for someone to contract a disease in a place that is supposed to correct your character but rather destroy it, because catching HIV can definitely mess up a person's mind and no one deserves to be infected with HIV.

1stly that’s discrimination. People should never be separated based on weather they are HIV positive or not. The issue here is not one’s HIV status but rather rape. Life is not fair so I don’t want to talk about fair. But it is not right for one to be sexually assaulted.

Lebo thank you for giving us a show that allows us to understanding REAL stories of ordinary people that we would otherwise never hear. There is a tendency in South African television to continue giving us shows that only interview celebrities where we mostly learn that they started singing at Sunday School at 4. The times that you have interviewed celebrities, it is always about their lives outside being a celebrity. I am personally learning so much about the human experience 🌹🌹🌹
Mlungisi was too young when he went to prison. He seems like a good and honest man. May God bless him and give him the strength to do more and help others who are currently in the same situation he was in when he was still a teenager. I'm sorry that you had to endure all you did. I can imagine, as a child stranded in the streets, you would have done anything that the older guys tell you to do. I'm sorry you had to experience what you have experienced.

Mlungisi was definitely young and vulnerable. The men who he says were friends groomed him into crime. He had to account and it's great that he changed his life. I definitely loathe how Vusi had no sympathy for him, there was no need.
