Crazy to see the new hot knives that people in the community strive for. I had been out some years but just got some of my OG top knives. I never heard of that Koenig. I dropped off in like 2017. I have currently a 2008 original pivot Umnumzaan and it’s sooooo much better than any other iteration of the umnumzaan and I have had several ones. My top knife I own is a Strider SMF with a nightmare grind and a groot handle (titanium looks like tree bark)
I love both of those knives but as far as staying power, the zaan won. Since then I’ve sold the zaan so I could continue to review and test other knives.
One bonus for CRK is their "spa" treatment. I bought a Classic Sebenza that had been a user and was all kinds of scratched up. Got a good price on it though. I contacted CRK and they said to send it in. I got it back a month or so later and it looked brand new. No hardware needed replaced so it only cost me shipping. Wonderful customer service.
Superb video. Let me say this. You can own a zaan and a sebenza 31 wait for it. Wait for it for the cost of one Koenig arius. Let me say that again. You can own two of the most famous knives in the world for the price of just one Koenig arius. that’s how good the area says. It is the best American knife money can buy. The Chris Reeve are spectacular and you give that as a present to your son when he graduates high school. But the Koenig arius is for the college graduate or medical school. That’s my opinion and I own them both. There is a reason why the Koenig arius cost $900 in a plain Jane version. Wonderful video. Thanks again.
That’s such an economic way of looking at it, and so very true and I think that’s why I ultimately let go of the Arius (which I LOVED) because at that price point I was able to get so much. Even now I own a beautiful custom Pena Apache that was 20% cheaper and way more comfortable for me to justify.
I absolutely LOVE my Chris Reeve Umnumzaan drop point harpoon tip blade. I want the tanto blade. I only do Umnumzaan and Microtech OTF automatic knives.
I don't have either but my Liong Mah Warrior 2 v3 Tanto compound grind is similar to the CR Umnumzaan so I would have to go with the Umnumzaan also ftw. I prefer smooth op/cl action rather than drop shutty tbh
I literally find myself in this predicament. Just purged the collection and am looking for one premium one and done edc and work knife. just got the opportunity to get an umnumzaan and a flipper delete arius. This vid reflects a lot of my own thoughs and I think I will be going with the zaan now. Thanks!
@@highwindsedc yep. Any of Crks with the “over travel stop” is not an over travel stop at all. There’s a video and I think it’s on there website where Tim talks about it
I think it was 5 to 5 actually. I have to go with Arius. I can't get used to the Umnumzaan lockbar, eats my thumb and it's so stiff. Seeing yours I have hope, but for today it's Arius. If I had rougher usages I would go with Umnumzaan simply because no bearings to clog up.

Great comparison, really enjoyed it! Tough choice…. But in the end you can’t lose! 👍
Very true!

Koenig also offers a spa treatment and typically you get it back in a few weeks.. Both are great makers and companies 👊🏼

I recently sold my zaan for a custom fixed blade. I want a drop point zaan now
Excellent review, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent comparison of 2 awesome knives. Great video 👍
You’re a lucky SOB. Been waiting on an umnumzaan for awhile. Keep up the content. Especially on fixed blades homie!

You’re absolutely welcome! I’m glad this helped you!
The Umnumzaan is a beautiful BEAST.
I love both and would never sell either.
Epic comparison
Did you know that on the zaan that is not a overtravel stop? They put that on the model for show.
I did not know that!
