Converting Between Moles, Atoms, and Molecules

- How many atoms in 5.5 moles? How many moles is 4.6 x 10^24 sulfur atoms? We'll solve problems like these, where we convert back and forth between moles and the number of atoms or molecules that we have. We'll be using both a common sense approach, and also a standard conversion factor method. We'll learn how to use a scientific calculation to do this math, and we'll see how to round our answers with scientific notation and significant figures.
Yet again, I'm paying a huge amount of tuition at school for a class.....only to turn to you and learn it for free and be able to pass the test. I hope somehow you are being "paid" and rewarded for your helpful, clear, work. You are so dedicated, setting it up so nicely and clearly and taking so much time for us, your students. Thank you.
You pay tuition to learn about moles? I don't know where you live but here in Canada we learn this in public school in grade 11 chemstry.
@@randomfandom33 Public Edu in the U.S. is theatre. It is not education... how many people in the US still believe the world is flat and that dinosaurs are a hoax? Teachers teach kids to pass the tests not how to solve problems.
@@noreenelizabeth6617 That sounds like education anywhere nowadays.
trust me youtube pays him, I'm sure, people love educational videos, just look at us, we're giving him ad revenue. I do appreciate him a lot right now though.
@HARPO ! no it doesnt, schooling is free until you turn 18. Healthcare is free for ever. USA is socially backwards
I would sell my house, my car, and give you my entire life savings just to have you as my chemistry instructor for 1 semester...
+Thomas Tran Well, you don't have to sell all your stuff, but if my videos are helpful to you, I'd LOVE it if you'd make a donation to help me continue to make more. You can go to my channel pages (ruclips.net/user/tdewitt451), scroll down a little bit, and click the blue "Support" button on the right-hand side. Thank you SO much!

@@helinaras8664 Honestly same, my teacher is not great at explaining.
But hes a scientist...
he looks so happy doing this
i hope he knows how many struggling students he’s helped

^^
Not even 2.5 minutes in and I already know more from watching this one video than what my Chemistry teacher could "teach" in 1 hour. Gotta love school, amirite?
This guy is actually good at this.
Facts bro
I think it's cause we pay more attention to him than our teachers but yeah I agree
@@corrosion1yt466 in my case, it's because teachers tend to accidentally complicate things. don't tell me why, just tell me how to do this.
@@meagain4572 our teacher goes "your book is a great reference tool" as her motto. I find it as an excuse to be lazy, our books have nothing like this in them to my knowledge
his happiness in teaching makes me happy
Juju M makes it easier to learn too
Maths Bob Ross a bit for sure.
You have officially become my Chem teacher. Your methods are brilliant!
Are you chemistry jesus because you've been working some miracles on my grades
+SereneOmen that what on my mind about him,he sounds like a saviour ...i pray God shall increase his knowledge
All hail lord of chemistry!

You are a blessing my friend! I wish professors have the passion and joy you have buddy
***** Lol I guess that's a side effect of being a bodybuilder. Thanks for the compliment...I have to say you're quite BLUE
+Dennis Black meh... his hair could be better
My Uni doesnt even have one, we learn from a book :'( But this guy is awesome.
Yes. Explain it to me like I am dumb. No, seriously please do. Your videos are saving my GPA right now. For everyone that reads this, YOU ARE NOT DUMB. A lot of us learn differently and need a little extra time. I know I do when it is anything related to numbers. You got this and push through. You are not alone!
teacher: spends a whole class explaining significant figures
me: *wtf*
this dude: explains it in 5 seconds
me: *ohhhhhhhh*
Tyler, you are awesome. I'm in the military, have a new born and had the bright idea to take chemistry over an 8 week summer session. It's brutal and you are the one that saved me. In my opinion the smartest people in their field are those that can take something complex and put it in simplest terms, and you do that. It's surprising how many professors, while highly intelligent, are very inefficient in teaching. I will be donating to support you.
Aaron Maggetti Hell yeah, I hope you made it thru that and came out the other side, smarter 🤘
Thank you, yes I did. I can't remember ever challenging myself in science courses. It's good to open up your mind as you get older and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
I am with you here! I was in tears because I wasnt grasping chemistry. I'm a 31 yo student that hasnt taken chem in 16 years. He saved my graduation.
Ha!...I'm 66 doing this...to get ready for a 3 year vet tech program!
@@TheDuramatter this is a late comment, but I’m curious to know, how did it go?
My first attempt on the quiz with this material earned me a proud 25%! My teacher offered me a retake after she graded it and saw I clearly did not understand the material. So I had till the next class with her to study, I came her watched all your videos on moles and such. I retook the quiz and got a 95%, thanks for your help!
Thanks so much for making this video. It is so frustrating when my teacher does not explain something in a way that I can understand and then gets mad at me for not knowing what to do. I appreciate the time you put into this video and your other videos.
THANK U!!!!!U SAID IT!!!!!SAME IN TRINIDAD MAN...ITS A PROBLEM ALL OVER THE WORLD
I love how he smiles when he teaches... it's the mark of an excellent teacher. Keep up the awesome work, Tyler!! You rock!!
this is the channel you come to when you accidentally sleep in class and miss a lesson because you were tying to learn the one before from your textbook. THANK YOU FOR HELPING US STILL TODAY
Exactly why I'm here
Surprisingly specific
1) To the guy in my Chemistry class who told me about your channel, may your days be fantastic, your grades high and opportunity abounds.
2) I have have watched maybe 6mins at this point and I know more than a lecture's worth of material for my exam.
3) I love you for creating content that is simple to follow, nothing over the top on how to do this and that, simplicity is key.
4) Be my chemistry professor please.
5) You deserve so so much for your work into these lessons.
Astounding! Could you please do videos in Calculus, Molecular Biology, Astrophysics, Geochemistry, and how to deal with difficult people? My life would be complete.
Thanks
Jim Keller hahahha yes please.
I was sitting here crying after my mom who's a chem wiz couldn't help me understand this. I don't feel like an idiot after this video thanks so much
i look at the my book and like... uuuuuh... watch one video here and like .... ooooooh...
thedougman2008 literally me. I've even stopped looking at my textbook. Have an exam and don't know where it is.
Same
Literally the GOAT chem teacher ever
You can teach a lesson through a computer screen in 15 minutes 100 times better than my chem teacher can in 2 weeks.
Allison Brower agree 100%
You are my hero. Seriously, would not have passed my chem class without these videos.
same
pretty certain you are the only reason I'm passing chemistry
You have a skill for teaching! I hope you get paid for these videos!
I can't emphasize enough the importance of having a tutor/teacher who truly enjoys what they're doing!! Great stuff:))
thank you very much! great help for my chemisty test. my teacher doesn't explain it like you do!
You are so much better than my chemistry prof.
how can this vid even have dislikes? and man, you are AWESOME!! i would love it if you made a video on calculating the no. of ions. subbed and will donate.
Here the video on it: ruclips.net/video/-gpQuYcrAoI/видео.html
Probably from people who think WWE is real, the world is flat, and science is for queers. :/
probably all the teachers who are mad that we came to him for help and not them
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your help. I am a 60y.o. student and am advancing my nursing education. I am required to take chemistry again. My last chemistry class was in, 1979. Your ability to breakdown complex ideas into simple concepts has helped me immensely. You have a gift and a passion. 1 Thank you x ( 6.02 x 10 to the 23rd)
The way you approach teaching in such a common sense approach, is seriously life saving. I learn in a weird ways and chemistry has been my enemy all semester, and you have helped soooooo much. THANK YOU
You're so much better than my actual professor.. Thanks man!
you saved my life again xD in class, i can hear my teacher, but nothing he says is understandable to me but you teach in a way i get it the first time i hear it thank you sooooo much i hope you get paid good money for teaching this complex subject so well. now i feel i have the motivation to learn chemistry and pass because i understand your teaching thank you soooo much
You're SOOOOOO much more helpful than my A-level chemistry teacher, thank god I found you on youtube! You're actually saving my life!
you are great.I thought this is going to be complicated as my basics were not cleared and i struggled when it came to differentiate between atoms and molecules. But you are god to me,you cleared it just so so easily.
I loved khan academy but turned out some one better is here!
lol they got into a fist fight, you can watch it on liveleak
80MileKyle what?

yes! I started with khan academy before I found this dude-
Dude Keep up the awesome work man🙌
Haven't seen many who can get this deep in chemistry and still make you wanna learn more!! You're a legend 😅
Great videos!!!
His optimism makes me excited to learn more about this subject
I would always be sitting with my parents crying over and over, day after day. Out of all the kids in my chem class I am the slowest, no doubt about it. I've went to tutoring every morning and every afternoon and then I ended up failing even harder. I am 15 years old and If it's possible to bring my 2.13 average up then it's all because of you. Thank you. I genuinely hope everything goes well with you. I love you so much i am crying. If you reply to this comment, that would mean the world to me.
How do we ever repay your favour upon us my dude? 😂
May allah have mercy on you, ameen ya rab.
You and Brian Sworthout on RUclips are saving my butt and are gonna help me pass this class!! THANK YOU!

you are the best chem teacher ever. Thank you for being here Tyler!!! This video was uploaded 6 years ago, but your great work has been helping anyone study chem. it makes sense A LOT!
such a helpful video! i cannot stress enough how much this guy has helped me during my honors chem class ❤️
Tyler is an excellent instructor! He is amazing!
a clear explanation instead of a lecture/rant about what we "should already know". thank you sir
I just want to say you are a life savior. When my professor explains it, it goes through one ear and out of the other. Please do a video on precipitation reactions!
U are absolutely amazing . U are a wonderful teacher . Just so magical . I want to become a teacher like u
if yall love him as much as me and wanna give back, just watch the ads all the way !
I listen to my professor and I hear and see blah blah blah blah, and I watch you and I see and watch your arms and demonstrations speaking my language. Thank you soo much!
If I pass the Chemistry class, it will be because of your teaching. Thanks, Tyler!!!
what kind of cruel, heartless teacher wouldn't allow students to use calculators for this..... :o
Mine? Sadly true ...
+teatreetreaty "The Devil" My chemistry teacher
teatreetreaty mine
It is true ,in India ,we aren't allowed to use calculators ,even for calculations like 45/22976548000000000000000000000. :P
Yeah in India no calculators are allowed till you are in uni....which is very sad
Watching in 2019 and this video is helping me so much I want to thank you " 1 mole" times
U unknowingly has become my chemistry teacher and now with ur help i'm going to face G.C.E.O/L examinations in Sri Lanka I stopped attending classes bcz it's a waste of time I can just learn from ur videos. Thank you so much Tyler sir.
U are the greatest RUclips teacher in the history of RUclips teachers. I really understand it now.

I pay for many tution sir, but none is like you. We are just so lucky to have you teach us chemistry. Respect and a huuuugeeee amount of love for you sir.
Thank you so much for taking the time to teach a bunch of people, like me, that you do not know, about Chemistry an everything that goes into it with a lot of enthusiasm and actually give a hoot about wanting to teach it. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!
thanks, this rly helped
You are the greatest chemistry tutor in the history of tutors. you even included doing sig figs. I didn't good on my first AP chem test (61% lol) but Im motivated to work a lot harder.
I'm watching this video and my test tomorrow focuses on this topic. Honestly, my teacher was a hassle to understand. I was only able to get a little bit of understanding from her. But, when I watched you I was able to connect the pieces. Thank the lord you exist!
Some students think that they are failures because they score less but try best , sometimes it's fault of teacher as well because they don't teach with joy and make studies boring , if there are teachers like you students will happily come to school or college and enjoy the education . That's my thinking , man love you 😁😁😁😁
I could kiss you, Tyler! Thank you so much!
I think this guy has a fetish for jelly beans
Lol
We recently started a new unit on mole conversions in class, and I struggled to understand what was being taught. However, this video provided so much clarity for me. Thank you so much!
Bruh I understood it in 3 minutes while my teacher couldn't get our class to understand is two days. You're a blessing.
I watched this video 989.65434 x E26 times and got a 62 on the test. 😐
My actual chem teacher is useless the only reason I'm passing that class if because of you 😭🐐🐐🐐🐐
Well, I want to correct your grammar...
You can't use reason and because together.....
Keep learning.. It's not done to show you down but to make you learn by your own mistakes

Hey, do you have Dutch roots? DeWitt looks Dutch....
btw, your video's are great and very clear!
Yes! My ancestors left Rotterdam about 400 years ago to come to New Amsterdam.
wow that's a long time ago...
+Tyler DeWitt lol 400 years ago
+Tyler DeWitt Thanks a lot. My result of 9th grade is 87% because of you. You are better than my teachers. I asked my teachers to watch your chennal.
Visual aids are really helpful :D It makes the learning more clear and more interesting. The only prob. here is the radiation O......o Millenials have poor eyesight xD
You sir ... just saved my life .. I have eight pages of conversion factors to do in two days and you just showed me how when my teacher couldn't
Please post more.. I'm begging you! You're the best teacher I've ever encountered!
Dude, love your happiness :)

I love how you get into every single detail thank you so much I subbed man keep up the good work !
I just wanna thank you so much for making this video! This really made me understand what we've been learning about in physical science honors and my teacher doesn't always explain it to us like that she just gives us a worksheet and tells us to work with others. I actually for once believe I'll ace the test tomorrow :) thanks !

You teach really wonderfully, and much more clearly than my professors of the past. Thanks a bunch.
ive been trying to figure this out for weeks now by using conversion factors, but now i completely understand! thank you so much, i dont understand why teachers have to make it seem so much more confusing than it really needs to be
