I knew you'd come round to a street twin,, they are brilliant bikes. nice video mate. my ST used to turn heads all the time if it was filthy and mid-trip or in glossy condition freshly cleaned. I think its a really premium bike
Hi Dick! Great video. I really like the way that Triumph sounds!
The tach appears in the little l.C.D. window. The I button let's you scroll through the info. The stock exhaust is the best factory pipe I've heard.
Thanks for the info.
Yeah. That’s the 2019 version or later. You do have tachometer on digital display if u scroll through info. I do believe they retuned the inertia in 21. On twin and t100 and 120. Just rode the 2022 t100 today. Bloody phenomenal.
I find on my Street Twin, at highway speeds i dont mind much if its calm outside. But it seems in Houston, at least lately, every time Im on the highway im being blown about like crazy. We do have a shite load of big trucks because of all the industry and Im sure that doesnt help. But when ive been on back roads hitting 60mph+ i havent minded the smooth wind. That said, i AM indeed buying the Dart fly screen. Great vid!!!
I’ve only ridden the Street Scrambler, but I like it a lot!😎. And I own a ‘20 T120. While the 900 engine doesn’t have the punch of the 1200, it makes up for it with the nimbleness resulting from about 40 less pounds.
The Street line is definitely worth considering. I’d still pay a bit more for the T 120; however, any Street model is well, well worth the extra dough if you considering a Royal Enfield 😘.
The 2021-2 Triumph Bonneville T120 is significantly improved.
The Street/Speed Twin 900 is my perfect modern retro BUT my brother bought one from new and had nothing but problems during its warranty period … which included a cracked piston pot. He was delighted the day he traded it in.
Happen to remember what model year? First I’ve heard of someone having more serious issues and I’m cross shopping at the moment with the 850cc Guzzi V7
@@frenchwm It was a 2021 Street Twin. He had two O2 sensor replacements (and the bike was always hard to start from cold after they were changed), a cracked/porous cylinder casting then followed and finally there was some issue or other with the gear selector. The bike was bought brand new, main dealer serviced, rode sensibly and all work was carried out under warranty.
@@bvseediermedia6 man that’s wild! Extreme lemon it seems but good to know regardless of how rare that might be. People never mention the misses
@@frenchwm Yeah he had a real lemon from the factory. It’s a shame because I loved riding it and still highly rate the bike for what it is. The 900 Twin experience has a real sense of soul about it, a beautiful stock sound and the aftermarket custom options are vast.
Died just before 8mins in "ball vibes" LMFAO
Interesting review, hopefully my next bike although I wince slightly at the price tag. Have you done the Distinguished Gentlemans Ride? I've not done it before but seems like a good cause and day out.
Thanks for your comment. I have done the DGR since 2012. The London one has gotten too big for its britches the past several years, but the smaller ones are a nice day out. I’m pretty sure I’ve retired from them, at least for a while, but you should try to attend at least one in your time on your bike.
Hey Whistles....Chris from the USA...I finally traded in my 2019 Suzuki TU250x for a 2022 Cobalt Blue Street Twin...what an upgrade !
Looked at one today. I’ve owned 3 Harley Sportsters, I think I’m gonna buy a new Street Twin.
@@michaeljohnson2922 It does everything well and sounds amazing. Traction control and rain mode work well...no wheel slip in the rain. Good luck
No way to keep the TU and pick up the Twin? Congratulations on the new bike. Ride safe.
@@DickWhistles it was time for her to have new adventures with a new owner. It would have been too painful to see her languishing in the garage. The Street Twin is the TU’s big big big big brother. Torque everywhere
Very interesting. I wonder if you’ll be able to try a Moto Guzzi V7 to compare to your Triumph too. I’ve been contemplating what would be an ideal bike if only allowed one and interestingly the Tracer and the Tiger 660 keep popping up in my hypothetical lists as does a 900 triumph with a screen. My thinking is any more power and the bike is at its best when I can’t use it😉
Check out my V7 video. I liked it, but it is closer to RE in quality than the Triumph. The Tracer is gearing up to be my next bike I think.
@@DickWhistles ooops. I think I must have missed it or had a senior moment!
On my 2019, I’m at 75mph in 5th gear at 4000 rpm. Also if that is a 2019 and up, the tach is digital, you have to cycle through the lcd display using the i button.
It’s actually a ‘18 - first registered in ‘19. Not the retuned 900 engine.
Liked my Street Twin a lot… have had a Street Scrambler for 3 years now amongst other things. It’s my favourite. 👌🏼
On another subject, whilst you were there, did you see the shenanigans at the Excel show regarding the duff bike gear being sold? Just saw that trading standards had been down there.
Thanks for the comment. Why change from the Twin to the Scrambler?
I did not witness the hubub over the vendors. But I will say, as a rule, I never buy protective gear from a trade show. Most tradeshow vendors peddle products of questionable provenance at best.
5th gear at 70mph = 3750rpm on my 2020 ST. Hit the info button to find the tacko as well as range, mpg etc. ( I average 79 mpg which is great) 2019 on also has cartridge forks and improved brembo front brake as well as the 10 horse power and some cosmetic improvements. 6200 miles in and i can't fault it. OE tyres are crap though.
Thanks for the owner’s perspective.
What tyres are better for rain too?
@@kramnam4716 well you will find you are limited on choice but I fitted avon spirit st and it transformed to bike, much better all-round.
@@jonwright490 I just bought my 2019 Street Twin with 2500 miles on it. Rear tire had a plug so the dealer replaced it for me with an Avon Storm 3D. Now Im looking for a front tire and dude I cant find anything to match the rear Avon. Cant find the matching Storm 3D or a Spirit and Id rather not have 2 different brand tires. Probably going to just throw two Bridgestone BT46 on. Tires are just plain stupid right now.
@Laminar Sound hi, I fitted avon spirit st. I guess the one you fitted does not come in the 18 inch front. Maybe a spirit st front would work with the storm? Your choice is limited by that weard front size. There is a spirit st front for the ST definite
Hi,recently changed the front sprocket from 17 to 18 tooth on my Street twin 2018,what a difference.Hangs on to the gears longer and cruising at 70-80 mph is better, drops the revs quite a bit, I don't feel the need for a 6th gear now .I suppose changing the rear would have the same effect and should be easier to find.Mpg should be slightly improved too.Pulling away in 1st has made a slight difference but not an issue.? Its a cheap fix,Try it you will be pleasantly surprised.Pete,UK.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll consider it when I have to swap the chain and sprockets. Ride safe.
That’s a good suggestion. We change gearing on road/mtn bikes all the time it’s pretty common. With motor bikes it’s even better cos the engine supplies the extra power. You may lose a little punch going out in first but it’s minor this bike has plenty of torque as pulls away FAST so no big deal. Top speed and 3/4th gears should be improved too. Def considering a change in rear sprocket to try this on my ST.
Pete Checking in! Beware of White Ball... P
oh god, street twin, street cup, street twin, street cup , etc etc , I'm confused Dick. that the threaded frame has failed is a worry, i presume that they are replacing the frame? if so that is a worry.
I'd assume they'll just tap a new thread seems straightforward tbh
As I tried to explain, the frame is modular. Instead of tapping new threads and then having to machine a larger hanger bolt, the removed the section of frame with the hanger bolt and attached a new section. Hope that clarifies things. Personally, I like welds.
Obviously you would have been better off to buy a R.E. Interceptor.
Blech
I know that bike....
Sounds like a fun ride. For a Brit, I have a strange aversion to Triumphs.
@will M I live in Thailand and I won't buy a Thai-made bike.
@will M Let's just say, I'd rather have a bike built in Japan than Thailand, but as you suggest, the CRF is Thai-built and you never hear of them going wrong.. I'd suggest Honda make sure of that. Triumph: I wouldn't trust them to bother.
@will M Problems?
So you don't think it needs a 6th gear?
It would benefit the bike with a 6th gear, but need? No. The old gearing needed attention. A sixth gear would have been better than a new cam.
Love the name and the entro. Classic. I think I will change my name to dick pickles.
My friend's dog's name is Sloppy Joe Pickles. Really....LOL
Good vid as per, but the bike is listed at the moment at £8,400.which is a long way off 'nearly £9,000.'
I defy you to find one for £8,400.
@@DickWhistles hi dick, thanks for replying, tried blade triumph (Swindon). £8,200. Admittedly, prob not the on the road price, but still, not bad. P.s you've been off post for a bit, glad you're back, your humour makes me laugh... Ride safe.
@@DickWhistles Actually, if its not actually new, I,ll fall on my sword. 😞
@@rbattson7171 didn’t fall on a sword, just join me eating some crow! Thanks for the comments.
