I’ve been there brother! The American daiwa presso is a killer ultralight rod under $75 if you are ever in the market again. Feel free to hit me up if you are in the market for a jdm one too. They are killer
@@TheUltralightLife oh yea I had a ghost pre-work out a few years ago but we never got the RTD. Our flavour options are slim compared to the US unless you go looking for them
@@yep.fishing dangggg, man the orange creamsicle ghost is hands down the best energy drink I’ve ever had and I’ve had a ton of them. What’s the most popular brand over there?
LOVE 2lb line so much. Makes the fishing much more challenging and fun. What kind of rod and reel is that combo in the intro and around 12:52? Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you sir! It is the daiwa iprimi extra extra ultralight with the KastKing kestrel 1000 reel… the rod has a crazy parabolic bend, but honestly it is not sensitive at all.
New subscriber here from Southern Vermont I have a 6-foot Saint Croix panfish series rod and a daiwa Regal LT1000 with two pound test line with a one 1/64 ounce shad dart jig head and I have a dang good time
I think 6’ is the best overall. Anything 7’ or more loses true ultralight feel, bend, sensitivity and balance. The combo of these structures are best around 6’
Hey! I use 2lb trilene smooth casting on setups that get more line twist. And Varivas trout advanced or twitch master on my more technical setups. Thanks for watching!
I’m a new subscriber, what’s your biggest fish on these ultra lights? Really enjoying the channel so far, I kayak fish about three times a week here in Southern Ontario, I’m just getting into ultra light fishing.
Hey buddy. My biggest largemouth bass is 7 pounds on 4lb line. I don’t have an official weight, but I used to catch carp on ultralights every summer, some over 10 pounds on 4lb line. This is why I have the drag very light. I’ve lost giant fish on even 6lb line when the last few runs near the surface are super charged. More often than not, I am using 2lb line these days. It casts very well, very sensitive and I feel let’s the lure present the best. Thanks for subscribing it means a whole lot to me!
I have one goal for this decade and it’s to get a 2lb sunfish (bluegill or Shellcracker). I caught a 13” last summer that was full of eggs and I had no scale. Public water too, my goal is 2lb on 2lb line haha. I’ve had the opportunity to catch many fish, and some bigguns. But this brings me the most joy
Out of the ones I have? The Daiwa presso air ags. Sensitivity is on point, it has plenty of parabolic flex (I love watching ultralights bend over) and has backbone to get a good fish up in the water column. That model is the 510XUL (extra ultralight) … the iprimi highlighted here as the rod with the super bend, is not sensitive at all, very noodly, but fun with small fish. My ajing rods have more backbone. My vote is air presso ags. I will upload my ajing soare review some day, along with my Yamaha blue current, but the air ags still is the winner 🥇
@@joshwestfall8750 if you want to stay a little lower in price, I’ve used the major craft Finetail as well and they are really nice! If you want a super ultralight, look for “SUL” or “XUL” in the product description. But these rods are best for around 2lb line. Plenty of UL options as well that blow American rods out the water
@@TheUltralightLife ok thank u currently I use a fenwick elite tech river runner ul rod with 2 lb sos trout magnet line. just trying to find a rod a step or 2 above lol
Hey man! I’m super old school I still use the Palomar knot nine times out of 10. Very very few times I’ll do a loop knot, but honestly with alot of these light lines I take no chances and go Palomar.
Thoroughly enjoyed this vid. Stay off the jalapeños!
I miss my ultra light rod. Snapped it trying to get my jig back 😂. 😢. Great video man! 21:18 nice catch!

Great ultra light action. Nice to see a full video
Thanks for the kind words! I hope you have a great weekend!
That little rod is crazy bro! I would have sworn you were reeling in a five pounder on that second fish!
Haha I know right. It’s got a crazy bend to it, one of a kind! Thanks for watching brother
It sure is fun catching fish on UL man you had a variety today 100 fish day pretty cool, see you next time👊🎣👏
Yessir brother look forward to your next uploads I will check em out 👍

I will watch this tonight :) hooking up the boat now
Thanks bro good luck on the boat!!
Catching a big cat like that must be fun with those ultralights.
Absolutely! The feeling is epic!
Awesome video my dude! Damn that rod bend on the ultralight rod is epic!
Thanks so much! That rod is stuuuupid haha
Thank you for open my eye's to new rods

The pretty yellow sunfish is a pumpkinseed! I caught some in Beaversbend reservoir, Oklahoma.
Dang is that your home waters I never heard of that place. I caught a lot of pumpkinseeds but they were so much darker. Dope to see this variant
Brooooo BBQ cHicken Pizza. My favourite. You might crucify me for this but it's common practice on Australia, pineapple on the BBQ Chicken
Hahaha there’s a place here that has a bbq chicken pizza with pineapples and jalapeños … it’s my favorite!

Awesome!!! Do they have hickory or American shad? We get both here in the spring and it’s a blast.
The lower Connecticut River has American shad but where I am I've never seen them there is several dams on the Connecticut River
Is the reel drag modified..sounds great
Hey man!! All of my reels are stock straight out of the box!! Thanks for watching

Could you link the first rod you were using? That thing is slick !
Great vid.
Hey man thanks, that’s the Daiwa Iprimi I got it from JDM tackle heaven
It does have its limitations however and isn’t the best all around rod, I will break it down in further detail soon

8lb line on that tiny reel. I had no clue what i was doing back then 1989!
