I'm down in Central Florida. My home base pond has giant bluegill, however, if I were to compare plastics vs bread for bluegill. The bread takes one for the win for me. On the other hand in the peak of summer a panfish plastic lure will catch bass left and right and almost no bluegill. The bass here love smaller baits in the summer.

The Z Bone has that nice beefy cork diameter grip, difficult to find that on any rod these days, makes all the difference on handle comfort when fishing all day. That alone makes it worth the extra cost for me.

I hear the same shit about the ultrex. People think prop spinning is equivalent to being bolted to the bottom of the lake. You also can’t compare a wireless pedal to an old fashioned cable pedal. 2 totally different systems. It all varies based on conditions, big motor trim an steer, boat weight, prop height. Mule baits in theory are great however because there so soft they are a total pain to rig. Now mule jig heads are superior to any other, I have not personally tried BG heads. NRV baits have excellent baits as well there geared towards trout but great for other species. I've caught many Small mouth on them. They are also not hard to rig due to plastic being harder. Great video though, UL love here my favorite style of fishing.

Exchange rate isn't the issue, it's price gouging, pure and simple. I landed one of these in Australia for $360Aud including shipping and taxes. Recommended retail for the normal Metanium here is $719Aud although you can get them for ~$600 if you look hard enough. (The shallow isn't imported to Australia). Shimano Japan owns Shimano Australia now so apart from the retailer there is no middle man and I happen to know mark up on Shimano reels in Australia is marginal. Shimano is dictating prices and charging whatever they can get away with. Anyway, now that my rant is over the Metanium Shallow is without a doubt the best low profile reel I have used. As much as id love to try this reel out, i just cant trust abu garcia anymore. Overpriced junk. I purchased several mgx and mgxtreme and these reels loos their smoothness in a season. And thats if you could keep the sideplates from flying in the lake. Their first generation revo premiers were pretty solid. Kept their smoothness for several seasons. Cant say anything great about the future generations. Should have went for quality over lightness. Live and learn
