Antonio is spot on about finding places to wear a suit. I loved putting on a suit when hitting the theatres in London and NYC (sometimes it was better than watching the show). Haven't been since the plague in 2019, so it now gathers dust.

I bought a few shirts from collars and co. last summer, and every time I wear one out, a get at least one compliment. Sure, it’s usually from my wife, but other people, too, appreciate when they see somebody wearing a nice shirt.

I prefer odd jackets and trousers that I can split up and wear regularly in my day to day life, that way I am accustomed to them and there are no unpleasant surprises when I really need them both.

@5:42 note NONE of the options for pants length involve resting 2 inches above the top of the foot and at no time is it appropriate to wear a suit without socks.

My tailor claims that I come to him so much I pay his mortgage! I confess to being a shopaholic. I buy a few suits a year but my weakness is shirts and ties, and I have everything tailored ,(except ties and t shirts) even my jeans are tailored.

As well as black pin stripes suits I find fits best Especially as a chauffeur for family Ive been doing since 2012 my boss jokes I sometimes dress even sharper than him
I find way I dress occasionally people think cars I am driving are mine and get good compliments on outfits

I noticed that wearing a suit feels like a costume. Not only because i do it only like once in a year, also because i can't afford a new suit every time my body slightly chances. So i just stopped wearing them. Instead i went with a really high quality dress shirt and fitting pants. Felt odd at the first few weddings but it's much more comfortable, much cheaper and the shirts get much more use.

I bought my first suit in 2002 - light colour, thought "yeah, that looks fine". Oh boy! I bought it for a wedding - sweat patches on the knees. Too large a waist, too long on the sleeves. Just wrong in every way. Antonio, where were you in my life in 2002!!!!!!!

Performance suits are actually really nice as it starts to get warm. Linen and cotton suits can be hellish to maintain and aren't that much cooler given you're layering them on polos and dress shirts anyway.

Fitted skin tight suits in my opinion look weird and awkward. I always thought suits should fit just a little baggy and oversized and draped. The fabric and the material and suit design as a whole should be the focus of a suit, not a persons body type. In my opinion

Just of the rack it will always be large in places and slim in other places for 95% of us. Even after tailoring...
Anyway, my view is in doubt, better larger for fatter people and better slimmer for fitter people.
Large (regular or relaxed fit) on slim people is as ugly as skinny fit on anyone. Same goes for anything in my view (generally speaking).

    • @brianduru3753
      @brianduru3753 2 месяца назад +4

Absolutely not. This is terribly wrong
They shouldn't he tight fitting, but they also absolutely should never be baggy in any form. This isn't the 90s and 2000s.
They should drape. A snug fit that isn't too tight, but isn't oversized as well.
A suit is the most flattering garment a man can wear and it should enhance the desirable parts of a man's physique (shoulders, chest, trimmed waistline).
Now of course, you also have to consider your own physique as well but at the end of the day, no amount of clothing and tailoring will disguise the fact that a person is out of shape.

I can understand the allure of a suit... to women. Because as a man when I see a man in a suit I think of an employee, someone lower in the hierarchy. Not that I look down upon people lower in the hierarchy, it is just that a suit does not have that "class effect" on me as a man. Lets face it. Extremely few men are comfortable in a suit and it is for the most those pretentious ones who think whether for good or erroneous reasons that it opens them up doors. Most men find suits extremely uncomfortable, cold in winter, hot in summer, not permitting full movements, not suitable for public transportation (OK one wouldn't wear a suit and take the metro, understood!). Plus the tie is an even more unecessery item and let us not mention the despicable bow-tie. It is all a silly fashion born out of simplifying in the early--mid 19th century the even more silly fashions of the 18t century. Maintaining a suit is also too much, cleaning it is a hassle and effectively it is all just a statement of either having a wife or a cleaning lady or the time to get to the cleaners. There could be far superior options for a formal dress - giving an example from another culture, India, those Indian formal clothes that the Indian MP and politicians are wearing look far more practical, easy to maintain and look decently OK (within the confines of their culture for sure), we could thus have something along these lines as well. Shirts with zippers for example, instead of buttons, are a good example in this direction. The abolition of a tie is also a good step. People may lament the abolition of the suit from most workplaces in the past 2--3 decades, but that is one of the best things that happened freeing men from that hassle.
Said this, we all had to buy a suit for one reason or another. And this free professional advise from Antonio is spot one. Antonio knows his job.

Why do I get the impression that these videos are produced around product placement and advertising..
I realize a guy’s gotta pay the bills, but all these “men’s” channels are just one long commercial.
