Boy I remember Dennis Setzer and the Orange Blossom Special, Greg Marlowe and Jay Fogelman at Caraway Speedway back in those days! Setzers battles with Mike Skinner were the stuff of legends there, and Marlowe was always always a force to be reckoned with! The part I don’t understand about all this is why these NC and SC drivers would haul all the way to Nashville to run a 20 lap race? Of course NASCAR was at its peak at that time, and I guess any late model driver that wanted to make it to the big leagues would go to any televised race to try and get recognized!
I met him at the Fairgrounds in November 96. Last race of the year. Dale Jr. Joe Buford was a great Driver also. Does he still hold the track record? This was before Dale Jr was the star he is today. Very cool and humble. Chad Chaffin I’ll do anything to win. Lol Jerry Underwood was a cool dude also. Good times .
Miss the old TNN broadcasts they were ahead of curve in Motorsports coverage.
I met Chad Chaffin , Dale Jr, Kelly , back in 96 . Bobby Hamilton R.I.P.
My dad, Bennie in the #96 Thunderbird
Yes very awesome . I remember Casey Atwood was coming up. I still love the Fairgrounds . This is a classic.
R.I.P. A.W. Kirby(Andy) Went to High School With Andy. He Was A Friend !
My dad is Andy's cousin. I can still remember the smell of rubber sitting in his car as a kid. We have some of his Mapco stuff.
Andy Kirby RIP used to dominate in 96’. I remember the Mapco / Coors Light ??🤔car.
"Race of The Week" is basically what "American Sports Cavalcade" turned into.

I believe these were heats for the main race later that night. I have no clue why they're presenting this as its own thing.
@@Amy_Co Aha! Great point!
That's an excellent track, used to go as a kid. Watch some racing and ride the roller coaster....

Dale Jr ran the fairgrounds a lot for a couple years prior to going to Busch, along with Kerry and Kelly.
