Chicago is not segregated like you say. The most segregated neighborhoods are black neighborhoods because of crime. The north and northwest sides are not segregated by race. People aren’t so poor in these neighborhoods but areas are mixed.

I raised both my boys for 20 years in the Tristate of NW INDIANA that borders Illinois to the south. They🎉 are 31 and 38 and never experienced or seen a crime while we lived there. So law abiding Chicagoans who want a mostly peaceful though boring life, we are just south of you. We drove to Chicago on the weekends no big deal as it’s only 45 minutes away. No child or parent should worry about carjackings and guns being pointed at them at anytime just by living their lives inside their neighborhoods. These crimes are almost nonexistent when we lived there until ten years ago. Though all my friends are still there, hubby and I went to even quieter country living in southern Indiana for our retirement. Loving life here.

Police make arrests. It's the courts that offer lenient sentencing, little or no bail. Early parole etc.. and fight for the "rights" of the criminals if the police are too "rough" with them.

I used to play in the small park before they built the 13 district police station on Wood. Went to the pool that was adjacient to the police Station. In the 70's I was jumped and had my bicycle stolen on Walton just one and a half blocks from the police station. If something was not nailed down it was stolen. I remember when they built Ukrainian, thinking why would someone want to build something new in this area when the buildings keep catching fire. Also in the 70's, around Chicago Av & Walcott a man got out of a car with a gun and tried to rob my sister. Also remember my JaJa being robbed at Chicago ave & Paulina. This is so interesting how these particular areas are complaining about a rise in crime when they have full knowledge of what Chicago’s past and current issues are. Meanwhile, the not so affluent areas are dealing with having millions of dollars reallocated to help migrants once again crippling majority black and brown neighborhoods also forcing racial tensions. Chicago is still so very segregated, filled with way to much corruption, racism and a lack of resources because of the corruption to address the massive change Chicago is desperately in need of. Now, we see white faces and those who think they’re white upset because what they’ve avoided addressing for DECADES when in regards to the most vulnerable on the west and south side is now showing up on their very affluent doorsteps they’re mad and threatening to leave the city. What a joke! And to think that Chicago was founded by a black man, you’d never know that shit!😢
Chicago is not segregated like you say. The most segregated neighborhoods are black neighborhoods because of crime. The north and northwest sides are not segregated by race. People aren’t so poor in these neighborhoods but areas are mixed.
@@raybod1775 I was born and raised in Chicago and come home frequently, my family still lives out west and the area has certainly changed with minimal investment or any type of integration since I left in 1995. I will agree that those areas are mixed but they’ve always had a tolerance for certain black and brown folk but almost 30yrs later legally renters have no other choice.
I discovered that a number of them are from out of town so they don't know the history of the area.
Nobody wants to live in fear. For years, that's why thousands of Blacks and Latinos who had the resources or connections to do so have left the South and West Side. The white people living in what used to be safe communities are now experiencing unrelenting, random violent crime have the resources to leave and they will. Like EVEY HUMAN BEING, they have a right to feel safe in their community. Call that racist if you want to but it's simply human nature. Plus, I don't if you're aware, there are many primarily white neighborhoods with migrant shelters and the city is planning more.

What did they think would happened when they welcomed thousands of Venezuelan migrants into their city without any vetting or background checks? Long time criminals who are from Chicago typically don't target these areas, so what's changed in the last year? Newly arrived migrant criminals don't know the difference and target affluent areas just like they do in their home countries, where the wealthy have private security and bodyguards. These people are ignoring the elephant in the room, while expecting the same people (politicians) who caused the problem, to provide a solution.

The high crime rate is directly related to the majority of the population voting and continue to vote for Democrats who do not believe in law and order. All the politicians need to be voted out, and replaced with law and order politicians. If the majority of the population continue to vote for the Democrats who caused the crime problems, then the solution is to vote with your feet, and move to a red state, where the politicians and police believe in law and order. For example, Florida currently has a 51 year low in crime, because Florida is a law and order state.

You are welcome in my home state of Indiana, maybe except for our capital city or the city by the northern border in NORTHWEST Indiana, where the issue of safety might not be assured to a satisfactory extent. I raised both my boys for 20 years in the Tristate of NW INDIANA that borders Illinois to the south. They🎉 are 31 and 38 and never experienced or seen a crime while we lived there. So law abiding Chicagoans who want a mostly peaceful though boring life, we are just south of you. We drove to Chicago on the weekends no big deal as it’s only 45 minutes away. No child or parent should worry about carjackings and guns being pointed at them at anytime just by living their lives inside their neighborhoods. These crimes are almost nonexistent when we lived there until ten years ago. Though all my friends are still there, hubby and I went to even quieter country living in southern Indiana for our retirement. Loving life here.

Police make arrests. It's the courts that offer lenient sentencing, little or no bail. Early parole etc.. and fight for the "rights" of the criminals if the police are too "rough" with them.

I really feel sorry for these peolpe, I used to live there decades ago and crime was bad back then too. For me moving up was moving out of that area. I used to play in the small park before they built the 13 district police station on Wood. Went to the pool that was adjacient to the police Station. In the 70's I was jumped and had my bicycle stolen on Walton just one and a half blocks from the police station. If something was not nailed down it was stolen. I remember when they built Ukrainian, thinking why would someone want to build something new in this area when the buildings keep catching fire. Also in the 70's, around Chicago Av & Walcott a man got out of a car with a gun and tried to rob my sister. Also remember my JaJa being robbed at Chicago ave & Paulina.
