I was right up in Soldier Field shouting “we want Fields” but the idea of Caleb williams has grown on me. I understand the upside and mostly i believe in what Poles is doing for the Bears.
Management can only do so much. Players must prove themselves. It's no different here in Cincinnati. We anticipated good things from JB9, but saved the effusive praise until he took us to the Superbowl. Everything else is just cheap talk.

If the Bears had the #2 or 3 pick, they wouldn’t have got rid of Fields for Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye.

Big difference between Fields and Williams is that in college Fields was protected by top offensive linemen while throwing to 1st round receivers. Williams was "protected" by the NCAA equivalent of the Bears offensive line while throwing to 7th round receivers. So we can already see how well Williams handles pressure situations where he doesn't have a clean pocket to stand in. Eyes always downfield and a much quicker release.

Our offensive line was not that bad according to advanced analytics. We were #2 in run block win rate, #4 pass block win rate, and #4 in total block win rate. We just led the league in time until pass, which made our sack and pressure numbers kind of skewed.
If Williams is a good fit for Chicago's offensive scheme things could work out. You will just have to wait and see. Best of luck to your Bears this coming season.

Btw the biggest difference between Justin and Caleb in college is that Justin basically had a nfl oline and first round WRs. Caleb had a bad oline in comparison and his top 2 WRs were just drafted in the 7th round. Justin kinda just sat in the pocket and waited for his WRs to get open, never really developed good pocket awareness because of it. Compete opposite of Caleb
1:12 only getting a 6th/ conditional 4th round pick for him shows that 31 other teams don’t really belive in him either. I wish he was good I loved fields I was heartbroken but I’m all aboard the Williams train now. Hope he earns that starting spot and hope Williams is as real as they say he is
Hello our British Brother, :) I'd like to hear the story about how you got to be a Bears fan :) I'll go look for a video on that if it's out there. To me, some stat lines are more important than others. I loved Justin, I wanted to give him another year, but it was not to be. One thing I won't miss are all the 4th quarter let downs. So much good stuff happening early on in games, but he was not a clutch player, we lost two 24 pt leads last years. At the end of the day, you'll see the videos about Caleb, but he's got the one thing Fields didn't and that's the clutch performances. He's not out there blowing lead after lead. Fields had that reputation in college and the NFL. I'm very hopeful for our chances this year and it's not just Caleb. It's the whole team man. Thing is these highlights just show the broken down plays. It's better to watch some of the other vids of him playing in structure andthat is actually impressive. What fields got traded for was his market. Maybe they could have gotten a round better, but Fields hasn’t proven he can be a consistent passer, or have a consistent processor, to be a franchise QB. After getting DJ Moore in the trade last year, and signing Keenan, it makes sense to draft a QB that can raise your ceiling. Considering Fields was probably like the 25th best QB in the league you honestly aren’t losing much in the slim chances he flops. Considering the haul from #1 last year.
He'd better get that scrambling and running mostly out of his game for the NFL, and focus on footwork in the pocket and quick decisions. Bears should build the great wall of Chicago around him over the next 2 years.

This stuff isn’t even the best stuff on his tape. His regular tape is insane, consistently going through reads and picking apart defenses with his arm.
Look at it like this, he will either be a JaMarcus Russell, or he will be a decent starter. But is he going to be CJ Stroud,Trevor Lawrence, or Justin Herbert....probably not
Honestly, one of the worse highlight videos I've seen at actually demonstrating what he plays like 90% of the time. The amount of scrambling would make it seem like that's his primary method of playmaking versus being a drop back - in system QB, which he does plenty of. But "highlights" tend to tilt towards his running plays here, even though the man threw for like 93 TDs vs 15 Ints in 3 years. Good content though. I would also suggest watching his ALL-22 every throw videos for entire games to get a real sense of how he plays. These Highlight videos are honestly pretty trash at showing the attributes that will make him a successful QB. Entertaining as all hell though, but man, they definitely inserted runs almost as the primary playmaking category.

Thing is these highlights just show the broken down plays. It's better to watch some of the other vids of him playing in structure andthat is actually impressive. People see this and just go..."pfft Oh He's Johnny Manzel! This won't translate." He's incredible in structure. I'm excited to see how he does in Chicago!

About 7 years I'd say I've been a Bears fan, I've watched the sport whenever I could growing up in England (usually at 2 am on channel 5) haha my mother was not happy 😂 but it was something different to rugby but still physical so when I was younger that's what drew me to it, thank you for asking Will, glad you enjoyed

What fields got traded for was his market. Maybe they could have gotten a round better, but Fields hasn’t proven he can be a consistent passer, or have a consistent processor, to be a franchise QB. After getting DJ Moore in the trade last year, and signing Keenan, it makes sense to draft a QB that can raise your ceiling. Considering Fields was probably like the 25th best QB in the league you honestly aren’t losing much in the slim chances he flops. Considering the haul from #1 last year.
All I hope, is that Caleb ISN'T a flop and we can please PLEASE just beat the Packers 😂
He'd better get that scrambling and running mostly out of his game for the NFL, and focus on footwork in the pocket and quick decisions. Bears should build the great wall of Chicago around him over the next 2 years.

When looking at college QBs there's 3 things to look at arm talent, pocket presence, and his ability to anticipate guys getting open.He checks all the boxes bud we got a good one this time. Honestly, one of the worse highlight videos I've seen at actually demonstrating what he plays like 90% of the time. The amount of scrambling would make it seem like that's his primary method of playmaking versus being a drop back - in system QB, which he does plenty of. But "highlights" tend to tilt towards his running plays here, even though the man threw for like 93 TDs vs 15 Ints in 3 years.
Good content though. I would also suggest watching his ALL-22 every throw videos for entire games to get a real sense of how he plays. These Highlight videos are honestly pretty trash at showing the attributes that will make him a successful QB. Entertaining as all hell though, but man, they definitely inserted runs almost as the primary playmaking category.
I think they may have shown runs because we're so used to seeing Justin scramble so I guess just proving he CAN do that too haha I appreciate you at least enjoying my reaction, there will be more for sure, I'm glad you're here and watching
